Thank-you. The details you present are clear, logical and helpful in determining tools for my future projects.

Great comparison video. How are the tools holding up?

Thank you for watching. Hammer stapler and hand stapler held up great. I do hit my knuckles a lot with the hammer stapler so I don't use it much. The pneumatic stapler sometimes has a misfire and definitely needs a pressure regulator to help keep it under control from over driving the staples. I have used it for carpeting a boat too and it worked great for that. Thanks for the comment.

Have any issues with moisture exposure not using the capped staplers?

I think the benefit of the capped stapler would be the cushion it would provide to prevent the staple from making a small hole in the house wrap if it were driven too deep. The majority of the staples didn't seem to sink and in some cases I had to still hammer them down. The staples are far less expensive and in the end I had to accept that we would be putting a lot of holes in the house wrap since we would be using screws for the siding. I'm going to rely more on spray foam for air barrier and the moisture and rot resistance of the Advantech sheathing as my insurance policy for the house wrap. One could use the tyvek tape to tape the fasteners to help with those penetrations but in the end, the wrap is breathable to allow it to dry back out should moisture get behind it. Long answer but I hope that helps.

Honestly, if you are going to cover the house wrap with siding the same day you install the house wrap, does it really matter what you use as long as it under the siding?

Hi @Grant Parnes thanks for your question. Given the pace of our build and for those with circumstances similar to ours, the house wrap may be exposed for a long time. Here in Florida we get some intense thunderstorms that produce significant wind gusts and rain on a daily basis. Most new construction projects will leave the wrap exposed during window and doors installation and inspections, exterior electrical boxes, soffit, and a few other trades. Siding tends to be the very last exterior step of the build. Thanks for watching!

Siding does not make a house waterproof. Water does get in behind siding especially around windows, j channels and seams
