If they're worth their salt then yes! Remember money n company's don't make good videogames people do. I hope after the success of our smexy heroine LolliPop Chainsaw we get the fun zero censored contender Onechanbara Bikini Katana vixens. Another game I wanna see come back with nothing taken out is 50cent Blood On Sand!
Yeah cus of this over triggered pc mind virus one of the best works in British movie history SCUM was recently banned in the UK no thanks to the ABBC the Anti-British Broacast. And yet they protect savile, harris and Hu Edwards!
I'm glad Shinji and Suda51 noticed. Censorship doesn't sell. Even Marty the Halo composer said about DEI is not diversity it's a code word for marxist worldview of power structure.
Censorship only halts creative freedom of expression and actual progress. It's good to see well known devs like Shinji Mikami and Suda51 speak out on this issue, which has sadly made something of a major comeback in past few years :-)
Spot on. I hate that little by little it chips away at what artist intend to create. What they seek is to force creators into thinking who itll offend is there enough representation of this or that people etc and its nonsense.
No shock to hear, people who don't like games are the ones demanding all that unnecessary censorship. Also no shock, because such people were given so much power that even speaking up is a huge risk. I am glad there are developers who are speaking up against all this, while gamers should always speak with their wallets.
I bought Lollipop chainsaw asap because of Suda's consistent updates on the game every month for the players. He kept assuring us about how censorship would be handled and he delivered. Yes, the game isn't perfect due to a few bugs but personally Ive been loving it on PC. This remaster using UE5 has much better lighting/reflections but Suda and his team is doing the work to improve it. No adjustable graphics settings in game is a big issue for some people with lower end hardware. Secondly, Harada (Tekken producer) also spoke out recently saying what alot of us have been saying this whole time. How metacritic hurts devs creative process because everyone just does the "safe" formula plan for a high score. Meaning, thats a big part of why almost every damn AAA game feels the same. Just look at Ubishit or Modern Sony games. Great listen as always Mugen 💪
Tragic what sony has become. They went from spiritual successor to *Sega* to ultra woke censor crazy pusher of agendas with subpar hardware. This generation has proven the leading executives over there MUST go if they intend to remain.
The director of RePop mentions his intention was not to make an extra censored mode with it, but to have it as a stylistic alternative. We need more devs that stand up, though words are taken by the wind and the publishers and holders tend to have the final say, unfortunately.
At the end of the day down to that "The grass is always greener on the other side" mentality. They have a lot of things they can't do because of the CERO regulations, but here we have a bunch of stuff we are _supposed_ to be able to do, but big publishers keep pushing to be the morality police and a lot of times just for investment money.
In this overly sensitive world where censorship is increasing, it really does my heart good to hear some developer speak out against it. I wish it was the whole industry though. It will be best to go with the Bayonetta 3 and Repop route of having two different versions embedded in the same copy as a selectable option instead of going through the hassle of making two different copies of the same game. But for whatever reason most developers don't do it. Either they haven't thought about it or they don't want to enforce people to play a certain version.
Something we need to understand is that these people don't want censorship because they dislike certain parts: they dislike YOU seeing those parts. Otherwise, explain why would they ban mods, like a harmless change of flag?
It's honestly disgusting how attractive women have become targeted and slandered in games because game developers would rather intentionally uglify, misrepresent, slander and exploit to be disingenuous and malicious towards men just because they hate straight men enjoying an attractive woman who just looks good and that's it but are totally fine with having actual nudity in baldurs gate 3 and last of us 2 because double standards It's also disgusting that they censor games like stellar blade that are rated M for mature meaning there should have been no censorship in the first place and it's cruel how they claim they're fighting for women while disrespecting them in the process by insulting them and the men who enjoy them by claiming their bodies are unrealistic and have harmful body standards out of pure dishonesty and jealousy, It is wrong for these people to invade our personal space and try to change it and dictate everything we do in it when they never cared about gaming in the first place, they are not one of us, the pokemon go censorship disaster alone perfectly and clearly showed me why many people are against diversity because they force in diversity at the expense of everything that is important by insulting their customers
@@Made_In_Heaven88 didnt you hear that capcom is allowing western non-japanese LGBT ppl to take "director and management" positions at Capcom? theyre finished dude

The director of Lollipop Chainsaw Repop spent time and money on a censored mode he could've used in polishing the game. Who was this censored mode for? Was the game reviewed by the big websites?
2 versions make no sense the "people" who complain about the games not being PC are not buying the censored garbage. And even in the rare event they do its not enough of them to justify the expenses of making two versions. Either fight against censorship or dont make it at all. Thats my opinion.
People keep missing or ignoring the point that rePOP should have been a Remake, not a Remaster. Ditching the Remake to make a censored Version of the game is garbage
Of course Suda 51 resisted censorship. After 50 failures, he's the perfect result of the experiment to create the ultimate game creator. Some of the other ones were awful. Ever seen Suda 15's works? He's the opposite of Suda 51. They're all boring simulation games based on reality. Years ago, Japan didn't bother trying to export many of their games. Since they would inevitably be censored or altered, they just didn't bother. This is why we didn't get most of their dating sim games in the 90s and early 2000s. I can't blame them either. I'd rather my art only sell in my home country over suffering outrageous regulations. Believe it or not, Nerf is going through something similar right now. Nerf launched the N-Series of blasters that conform to new EU laws on kinetic energy and sound decibels. The performance is lackluster, the new darts are proprietary, and it's all very expensive. As a result, Dart Zone is taking over as the most respected brand in dart blasters these days. Between this and the woke failures of D&D, Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury, and Magic: The Gathering, Hasbro is in terrible shape. Great video, ML. I just got my QRD controller in the mail yesterday, by the way. Excellent device! Thanks for the recommendation!!!🎮
As someone who's first step into Grasshopper games in general was No More Heroes, it's been very interesting to see where tehy'd come from and how they navigate the current industry, changing hands and acquisitions and whatnot in their struggle to be more independent. There's always been this sense that they're an underdog even as they've grown pretty popular. Both NMH as well as Killer7 and Silver Case are some of my favorite games, so I'm very glad to see they've mostly managed to get by and have many, many more western fans than they used to. Not every game of theirs focuses particularly on violence or even raunchy themes, but it's clear they simply don't hold themselves back if they feel it's necessary, which I think doesn't jive well with the nearly militaristic or cultist kind of activists against anything and everything they deem "problematic". As far as creating a censored version for everything, well...really depends to me. I fail to see how having one would make including both ok if their are regulations, but maybe I just don't understand enough about law in Japan. Otherwise, I think it's kind of a waste of time, even if it can have value in being funny and pointing out how absurd it is. I feel like the Repop devs must have been inspired by how Bayonetta 3 did it, and there's not necessarily a problem with that if it doesn't take the place of the game they wanted to make, but to me it really just wastes time and resources and, at least in the past, has created a bit of a divide back when they had to release the original NMH heavily censored in both Japan and Europe I believe. I'd rather not go back towards different regions getting wildly different experiences over dumb reasons but then I guess there's not much to be done about different laws than relying on being able to import games in whatever ways we have available.
I forgot to add to that, may not be so important a factor...but I feel many of these pearl clutchers must have been sheltered if they are true believers in their cause. NMH was a sort of introduction to me for many things in it at 15, and that's already having grown up on things like GTA or Beavis and Butthead, which seems pretty tame in comparison. Seeing these folks get upset over nothing most of the time, feels like they've been living under rocks if they're not just being disingenuous.
Good. More video game developers need to have the same stand with video games. I don't understand why M-rated games need to censored when there's a precise reason why you must be at 17 or older to play these games. If this is truly how things will be, then I've been saying this a million times; there needs to be a censorship option in games. Again, if Bayonetta 3 and the Call of Duty series have these options, then there's no excuse for any other developer to no include this option in the games they're making. No excuses. That said, we need to support Lollipop Chainsaw Repop. If we can get this game to sell well, it'll can send the massage to all video game developers that adding a censorship option will be greatly beneficial in this era of gaming. So, go support that game. Even if you never cared for the original.
I would assume that this is a JP for the JP audience interview or towards a JP perspective... when he said that the Steam version of Shadows of the Damned is the unrated version and it's the international version of the game, meaning that you're forced to buy or play the Steam version... I would assume this was directed to the Japanese market... meaning that the Japanese version is going to be less graphic on the gore (which we do have precedent for, think of many RE titles across many years and generations). Meaning the Japanese players, if they want to experience the true gorefest, they have to buy the Steam version which is the International version.
Same thing happened in the 80s and 90s when the satanic panic was poppin off. we all knew none of those lame asses were gaming at all that wanted to ban games, anime and comics.
Will more developers speakout against censorship?
