    They’re charging almost a 30-40% premium on DO/AWS prices. I’d much rather pay $20/ mo for Laravel Forge which does the same thing and then pay regular prices for the cloud provider hosting. That way one of the costs are fixed.

      Comparing the features and technical support of both platforms, I suggest Devrims. Let me explain.
      Laravel Forge does not provide one-click installation and optimization of TECH Stack and additional software services like Redis, Memcached, ElasticSearch etc, with the freedom to host multiple Php based applications and CMS in one server. Create multiple databases, multiple Php versions, application staging URL, server and application level SSH & SFTP credentials, and one-click domain addition with unlimited free SSL certificate. You don't have to manage the AWS and DigitalOcean account. From one hosting platform, you can create multiple AWS and DigitalOcean servers.
      There are many more features and benefits that Devrims provides. The most important thing is 24*7 technical chat and ticket support, 99.9% uptime guarantee with a chargeback policy. So I think paying some additional cost based on the features and support is not a big deal.

      @@waqasshaikh5874 Laravel forge does provide one click installation of Tech stacks. You can also provision cache servers, database servers, worker server, search servers and more. And you can run multiple php applications on one server with forge, you can even run multiple php versions for those applications under one server. They also have live chat. Laravel forge has basically the exact same features of Devrims at a better price. It’s also created by the Laravel team which is a plus if you’re hosting Laravel apps.

      $20 seems like a much better price than the $100+ per month for aws from devrims. Running some basic aws calculations against devrims having the same strength servers on a personally run aws account would cost around $40 a month before adding the database charges. You could possibly reduce costs with aws if you are willing to create a docker container for your project. Good to see other options being shared.

    I have been using AWS for the past few months and I can say that it is a lot easier to have your servers managed by a third party than creating your own ec2 instances or containers, if you need fine tuned controls or need the cheapest hourly setup then it would be preferable to work with the cloud platforms. If a company doesn't have an on staff developer throughout the year this option would save them a lot of money of needing to find a cloud developer to update the servers.

      Yes, provisioning and managing the AWS server is not an easy task for developers. Conversely, the DevOps resources are costly for SMBs and Startups. I always used managed cloud hosting platforms to save time and cost.
      I find the Devrims platform very easy and full of features as a Developer because based on my application requirement, I can install and configure the software serveries in one click, also multiple Php running simultaneously on a single server with the freedom to host multiple applications on a server and only pay the server cost.

    Still not sure what the difference is between managed cloud hosting and regular cloud hosting? When some says cloud hosting do they mean a cloud vps? As in a vps that is using a distributed model rather than a single physical server? Therefore managed cloud hosting is pretty much the same as a managed vps?

    • @Mooooov0815

      Terminology is a bit confusing, but managed cloud hosting can be compared to PaaS offers. Basically, you do not need to care for the hardware or the underlying software (OS versions, security patches, runtime versions). Additionally, managed offers often include some specialized configurations you might not find as a default with non managed offers (or more general purpose offers)

    Hi Stef, let me tell a story about sdk and libraries, back in the day 90s,i was into dos application programming, there was a big us company making languages compilers applications, one such program came with a sdk/library for a text editor, i could write a text editor app with just 50 lines of code, i was simply calling up code for text editor features,simple stuff ,anyway the text editors you could do were really good, it also had the capability to edit multiple text-char-constracted-windows unreal in dos in those days, to cut story, when a marketed it, nothing,no money, hahaha, whats the lesson? libraries are good but are quick work with no guarrenty of money,...

    🖖🖖Uncle Stef I need your wisdom. I am going to a python developer bootcamp soon but I've been learning python at home as well. Is it a good idea to pause with learning python on my own and learn html css3 at home. Because I'm gonna go to the bootcamp anyways and learn python?

    • @Kodlak15
      @Kodlak15 2 года назад +2

      It depends. Will you only be learning Python at the bootcamp? Do you ultimately want to work in web development? If you want to work on the web, it would be beneficial for you to pick up the big web tools (html/css/js). If web is your goal and the bootcamp only teaches Python, I would also like to ask why you aren’t doing a more web centric bootcamp? Not that there is anything wrong with Python, it is a great language, but its use cases are more prevalent in general purpose programming/scripting and data driven programming. My advise would be to focus on the technologies that you need to do what you want to do, rather than focusing on learning any particular language or technology for the sake of learning it. I am not uncle Stef obviously, but I hope that helps :)

    • @niklaus1835

      @@Kodlak15 Python is the language I started with so I think ill keep at it until I have a pretty good knowledge of the language and I will learn django so it's still web focused. I am following Stef's advice. I wanna get as many tools(programming languages) under my belt. And since I don't wanna give up python because that's the language i started with before even knowing about uncle Stef, I think it's good to learn it. I mean any language you learn is not a mistake I think. Also yes at the bootcamp it will be python only.

    • @Kodlak15
      @Kodlak15 2 года назад +2

      @Niklaus got it. Im not claiming you are making any mistakes, to be clear. There is no one size fits all approach to this stuff. Python was also my first language, and it is probably my favorite overall. It is a pleasure to use. You may also want to check out pyscript, which allows you to run python scripts in the browser like you can with javascript. It is quite new, but is a cool concept!
