I've discovered many amazing musicians presenting their work on RUclips... but Antoine Boyer takes my breath away like few others. Most great guitarists are specialists in a particular style, genre, or on a certain type of guitar, but this young man is mesmerising whether flat-picking Gypsy Jazz, playing a flawless Classical or Baroque style, or doing some fingerstyle Jazz wizardry on a hollow-body! It's rare that a single guitarist can evoke Django, Segovia, Bream, Hall, Scofield, Metheny, Holdsworth, Zappa so effortlessly. To boot, his arrangements are harmonically stunning with rich counterpoint, as evidenced by this rendition of a popular song.
This takes solo jazz guitar to a new level. People will listen to this piece in a hundred years and still be blown away!
