I can see the same personality between Green and your rival in Pokémon Red,Blue and Yellow, he sees his Pokémon as tools and only wants power and has forgotten to treat his Pokémon with love and care a lot like Paul.
I'd say he reminds me a lot of Silver from the Johto games. The difference is that Green is adopting and leaning into the "strength above all" as a coping mechanism, justifying it as "If i don't care, and become very strong, I will never be hurt again." Silver on the other hand, had giovanni for a dad, so the "Strength above all" mindset was drilled into him for most of his life.
@@conwaysquest6961 Yeah I see what you mean 👍 Silver was very uncaring for his Pokémon until your final confrontation where he says after the battle he’ll try to treat his Pokémon better.
I really like how this series handles Raticate's death by having it be related to Team Rocket. I was never big on the fan theory from the video games that the protagonist/Red accidentally causes it battling the rival on the SS Anne. It just felt... kinda wrong. But this is a great retelling of that fan theory and adding this bond with Eevee makes it better.
@@infinityheart_tm9270 in gen 3 games he was at silph co to battle against team rocket. Why he , a trainer would waste his time fighting a group of dangerous villians unless personal reasons. I think they promised to make his Pokemon stronger in order to made him join. Raticate was far underleveled I think that's the reason it died and gary holds a grudge
@@biomechsamurai1921 He tells himself it’s purely for training. But deep down. He’s hurting. He needs to prove to himself that he isn’t the same person who was too weak to save Raticate.
@@biomechsamurai1921 Raticate died to Koffing’s poison when it was at its most volatile state. It did this in an attempt to save Pokemon from Team Rocket.
I think that Sejun (the mangaka) wanted to make Green's Arcanine special, hence in this story it is the 'first' recorded Arcanine to learn Extremespeed. Remember Knowledge about Pokemon was still limited during that time (for example: Ghost and Dark Types were still feared)
I mean this is what I expect from an anime not to be an exact replica from in game mechanics, it's cool to see a product that can detach itself from that understanding that the nature and purpose of the two products (game and anime) are different.
Wow blue is a jerk, he doesn’t care about Pokémon, he doesn’t care about what team rocket is doing and he just care about power so professor oak was right with blue being not treating his Pokémon right
Blue (or Green in Japan) is acting exactly like Silver, but being 100% worse to his Pokémon to a point where he think bonds with trainers and Pokémon are useless which is false bonds actually strengthen your Pokémon to a point they know what moves you command without you saying the command
That is not completely true, while yes he has a very big ego, he still cared deeply for his Pokemon. Raticates Death was the trigger for his change. He hides his true feelings trying to overwrite his anguish and guilt with bravado. His yearning for power is not just him trying to be the strongest but also a way to protect what's dear to him. Obviously the way he tackles his inner turmoils are wrong but there is definetely more to his character than meets the eye!
@XaySamaVA yeh I agree. Out of all the charcters I think he is the most complex and well written. Cuz truthfully he is lying to not only everyone about his lust for power but also to himself. He dosent wnat it for the sake of simply having it, he wants it so that he is able to never lose a pokemon again. Even with Eevee he lied because he dosnet want her to get hurt rather than simply abandon her

Not to mention his death being so close to Lavender Town of all places.

I heard Ahri's ultimate in there!! Lol
Since Petrel and Archer appeared, will Proton and Ariana appear as well? I would like to see Silver as well, since Ethan appeared.
