    I'd definitely pack some more sleepsuits and vests, little boys have a tenancy to soak absolutely everything, I went through three outfits in one change for wee and 💩(nerves and inexperience, I look back and smile to myself now) in the end I found a large cotton pad worked well when changing him, I'd always pop it over him just incase, saved alot of accidents.... Even if it's warm they still need to be quiet well wrapped up, I always used to worry about this and packed cool outfits but they never got used, I had a June baby and I had to wrap him in a swaddle and two blankets because he really felt the cold. Highly recommend taking a swaddle blanket and swaddling him, I swear by these my little boy slept so well, he loved being snug and cosy!!! Be prepared for the newborn to still bury him, I was shocked having a 6lb 15 oz baby how big they still seemed on him, I'd pack some little cardigans aswell personally, a little knitted one over his sleepsuit works well, like I say they feel the cold. Lots more muslins aswell, you'll know what I mean when he's here. Definitely pack more big pads aswell!! Enjoy every second it goes so quickly ❤️❤️

      My baby girl loved being swaddled aswell. The sleeping bags were a pretty new thing & I never considered putting her in one, even though my friend bought me one trying to convince me to use it! We used a blanket that was handmade by her great gran&I've still got it. xx

    • @charlottecarter5887
      @charlottecarter5887 2 года назад +1

      Swaddles are amazing arnt they, but a nice blanket does the trick aswell haha think it's just about making them feel cosy and safe isn't it. Oh I miss those days seeing him so tiny in his crib 😍
      And definitely, I ways think with boys, when you think you have enough spare outfits always pack more... My little one still catches me out even now, you'd think I'd got the hang of it by now lol x

    Morning Gemma😁💗 I have to say, after having 3 sons I tried every maternity pad on the market and found that using the 'Always' maxi flow pads were amazing! I found wearing the maternity pads was like wearing a nappy. You can see them under your trousers they are so bulky, and I always leaked!😟😱

    • @helen5242
      @helen5242 2 года назад

      Totally agree 👍

    • @daniellethompson6619
      @daniellethompson6619 2 года назад

      Omg yessss people tend to think it's like a period but by god its 10x worse I leaked all the time. I found that full bottom knickers worked best to keep the huge pad in place at least lol.

    • @rachelb7068
      @rachelb7068 2 года назад +1

      @@daniellethompson6619 yes...the leaking was a nightmare. The thing is with the maternity pads they are so thick, I found that they just pleated between my legs so I leaked out the sides. Or when I was sleeping I leaked out the back or the front. Not only that, the padding inside breaks into small pieces.
      I was scared to use the Always brand, because they are wafer thin. But, by golly! they were a dream to wear in comparison, and super absorbent. When gemma held up her shoe next to that pad I nearly died laughing😂😂... they really are like wearing a nappy. Especially in jogging bottoms!! I felt like a sumo wrestler leaving that hospital.😳😱😂😂 Gemma if you're reading this do a trial run with the big pad and wear one for a couple of hours around the house.😉💗

    • @daniellethompson6619
      @daniellethompson6619 2 года назад

      @RachelB omg I no there a joke lol i was the same thinking the thicker nappy ones were going to be more absorbent, but yep the Always brand are shockingly more absorbent and much nicer to wear. As long as you buy the extra heavy ones you'll be great. Xx

Enjoy every moment and soak it all up because its so true, it does fly by so quickly especially the more babies you have. I loved labour, I had my second two at home and it was amazing, but I have a very very high pain threshold so I do quite enjoy the pain of labour weirdly! But it's such a magical experience for you and Jamie and I'm sending you so much love ❤️xxx

    You’re doing the right thing not having a detailed plan because you don’t know how you’re body is going to cope with birth. I ended up having an emergency section and because it didn’t go to plan, I had post natal depression. With my second, I went with the flow and things were so much better. Birth wasn’t ideal, but I had no expectations going into it. You go with the flow girl!!! X

    I would definitely pack a cardigan for baby, as newborns can get cold. You will probably want this for leaving the hospital. I would also take a water spray which you can spray on your face, then use the fan. It’s so hot in the hospital and that is really cooling/ refreshing. I’m A long phone charger is a must too as the plugs can be quite far from the beds. Enjoy such a special time, it’s really amazing and you will do amazingly!

    This is so exciting!! You and Jamie are going to be great parents. I would pack some more socks and bodysuits, boys get wee everywhere! And poo 🤪 Just take blankets for sleeping, the hospital provide you with them typically though. No need for sleeping bags or swaddles xx

    hi gemma, just a couple of things to keep in mind. I never took swaddles or sleeping bags as the hospital will provide the blankets baby needs for sleep. also something to keep in mind when choosing baby's first outfit is the hospital will possibly provide baby's first hat which you need to use until you leave as they are colour coded. also you might want to take a little soft toy for if they do the bounty photo shoots. something for you too is to take a really lightweight dressing gown/cover up just to keep you warm and covered if you have to be wheeled onto the ward xxx sorry for huge comment. very excited for you xx

    I needed two of those pads at one time and went through properly more than a packet a day for 4 weeks then for the next two weeks it died down a bit. I think I had 30 packets of pads in the house. Just stock up on them. Have a few baby clothes and towels out ready if Jamie needs to bring them up to u in hospital because men pull everything out and make a mess. U have baby vests the ones that fasten at the boat, u wond need like proper vests for baby.
    Think u need more nappies for hospital.
    Good luck with everything your looking great

    You seem to have grown so much as a person speaking about why you have bought the things you have. I've had 2 babies and over packed for both, advice I give my friends is make sure you and Jamie pack snacks and drinks for while in labour as you get hospital food often except meal times. I also packed energy drinks for the last push if its a long labour. Good luck xxx

    Can’t believe how fast your pregnancy has gone… I love these video updates gorgeous- it’s such a positive start to the week ahead and so exciting Eep! 💕
    Regarding pants- Bigger is definitely better! Also take more maternity pads than you think you’ll need as you might need to double up- especially if you are in overnight. Without being too graphic, this end will be doing all the hard work 🙈
    You don’t need sleep bags or swaddles- his blanket and clothes are enough.
    Your midwife is right- most first labours are long - it can take several hours before you’re at pushing stage.
    I would designate a place in your bag to put all his mementoes e.g. your name bands, newspaper on the day he was born- in the flurry of delivery, and haze of gas and air, these can easily get lost.
    Sorry to hear you had a blip last week but you and bump are doing amazing! Thanks for sharing lovely 💕

    I never washed new clothes for any of my three and they were fine.
    I also put them in baby grows at night, outfits in the day.
    Put them upstairs to bed in an evening from day one and naps downstairs during the day.
    Helps them learn day from night.
    Mine slept from 7pm - 8am from 7 weeks old.
    You get plenty of sleep then and time on an evening with your partner.
    My mum gave me the advice and it worked brilliantly xxx

    I suffer with anxiety and especially during this pregnancy. The best decision I ever made was to get a therapist who specialises in anxiety disorders. If you can get an appointment in (even if it’s just over the phone) before giving birth I think it would really help with techniques to cope. I wish I hadn’t put it off and done it sooner! It feels great to talk through things with them. But you’re going to be a great mum Gemma, you are far more organised than me! ☺️

    Kotex pads are a God send! they are sooooo soft and i even used them when i had 247 stitches to a very serious gyne op and they are the best pads for comfort and for preventing leaking and they prevent infections as the adult pull up nappies and the maternity pads are bad for the lady garden! perhaps a darker coloured shirt might be a good idea??

    • @tijay8507

      Decanting into smaller sized containers is best for a light hospital bag, also avoid spray deodorant and one that contains chemicals as breast tissue goes right into the armpit and you don't want baby to be exposed to the chemicals... get a natural roll on or stick one xxx

    Exciting times for you and Jamie..ah you need at least three packs of pads ..no one tells you about the amount you bleed..sorry TMI but seriously it’s a lot so you’re changing them often! you need them for when you’re home too as can be four weeks and still bleeding so buy much more..they will get used. Don’t think you’ll need a baby towel as baby’s first bath is usually done at home. Baby will probably be much smaller than you imagine so the smallest baby suits ever. No sleeping bag required…newborn babies are always scrunched up for days so swaddle blanket is better. Even if it’s super hot weather your newborn baby will feel the cold so nothing short sleeved like that stripe one you have…lots of vests/popper bodysuits for underneath the baby grows/sleep suits and small cardigan and a hat and a blanket for leaving hospital. Wishing you all the best. 💙

My little boy is 3 and it feels like I had him yesterday but each step is something else exciting and you wont feel sad xx

    hi Gemma, I had a water birth which was amazing for my youngest son, but for my eldest, I didn't and one thing I found useful (and he was born in June) was a pair of fluffy/warm socks! You don't really need vests if its hot you can just put him in the bodysuits or short sleeved bobysuits baby cant maintain their temperature intially so even if its hot you might need a couple of bits on , unless we have a proper heatwave ! x

Bleeding is heavy in the first 24 hrs and you will be changing your pad every 1 to 2 hours. Also more blankets, my second baby’s temperature dropped and had to be wrapped in a couple of blankets and my third wet hers when her nappy was off when midwife did her checks on baby. And a cardigan to come home in xx

You think of somewhere really relaxing and put yourself there, it really helps to keep you grounded and calm. Just remember you have more control over your body than you think. The more tense you are the longer it will take for baby to arrive. Everything you is forgotten once you're holding your beautiful baby boy in your arms. Being a mother is an emotional rollercoaster 😘 I didn't have a birthing plan either. A water birth would have been nice but it didn't happen with either of my boys. I did however have a short labour with them. I wish you all the best Gemma🥰👶

    Hi Gemma, so sorry you had tummy pains, hope your feeling ok now.
    Things you may want to think about for your bag are black leggings or joggers, they help keep the pads in place and just incase of leaks, also a hand towel. I don’t think they allow it anymore, but I always took a bag of sea salt for the after bath, it really helps with healing. But I also think they worry about it damaging the bath. I always hid it in my wash bag and rinsed the bath down after.
    For baby, maybe a cardigan for hometime. I never used a swaddle and didn’t get on with the sleeping bags, can’t recommend blankets enough though, especially with the holes, also to use in the car seat for taking baby home. You can swaddle baby if need be in a blanket.
    Nothing prepares you for having a baby, but you’ve got this and I’ve had six boys, so can’t be that bad, right 🤣 remember afterwards that after the first months your hormones kick in again and you have bad hair and skin days, take them in your stride and see them for what they are. It takes so much to produce a baby and to have a baby, so you are amazing, You will soon feel great again. Lots of love ❤️

    If youre leaking then save everything you are leaking. You can buy cup things to collect it all. Can help the baby so much even if you dont breastfeed.. can be used for sores etc. Use in the bath

    So exciting, takes me right back to when I had my two boys who are 27 and 24 now. The pad and slider comparison so funny. Maybe worth getting Jamie trained up in putting your hair up for you for when you are in labour.

    Not long now Gemma you are so excited which is so lovely 💙
    For babies bag you won't need a sleeping bag ,they'll use your blanket to swaddle him ,also you'll need a full packet of nappies and baby wash
    Lots of love ❤️

    I didn't take swaddle or sleep bag with either of mine hospital have bedding in the cots I did pinch their hospital blankets though 🥰 over pack for baby, I was in 5 days with 1st and 3 days with 2nd and went through at least 3 outfits every day. Also midwives on the ward didn't like wipes when I took them and said they recommended cotton balls and water for first few weeks. Also, I'm taking it you're wanting to feed yourself, I bought a little pack of ready made milk in cartons incase mine struggled to feed(and they did) then at least I could feed them my choice of milk rather than just what hospital had available xxx

    Hi Gemma, I’m not going to lie, I’ve just balled my eyes out. I’m now in my 40s with 3 children (2 are grown up) and my first child was from a previous relationship. That pregnancy was planned but as soon as he found out I was pregnant he became violent and chuckled me out at only 6 weeks into my pregnancy. I would have given anything to have the first pregnancy you’re having. It’s beautiful to watch! You have an amazing partner, cherish every moment you deserve it! With all 3 of my pregnancies I took in energy sweets, great for added energy! Xxx❤️xxX

    Your pregnancy has gone by so quick! Just to note I’d take now sleepsuits and vest/bodysuits as there tends to be a lot (per, poo and sick), lots of nappies too! A baby’s sleepsuit/vest is equal to your shorts and t-shirt, all the best x

I absolutely relate to feeling like they will grow up too soon…..and they do! If I can give you any advice, it’s soak up and enjoy every last moment with them. It goes by so quickly, blink and it’s gone! My daughter is now 19! It feels like yesterday I was holding her in my arms 🥰 Much love to you and Jamie xx

    hi gemma, my mum is a huge fan of you and we are both always sat on the sofa with a cuppa ready to watch your videos! my mum really wanted me to let you know that you should pack a bib just in case. it may be excessive however it’s better to pack the whole house including the kitchen sink than not have everything you need!😂there is nothing worse than that feeling of forgetting something/ not having something that you didn’t end up bringing for whatever reason. you probably won’t need them but as i said its best to have everything you could possibly need/want. i can’t wait to see baby boy🥺 congratulations gemma, i wish you, jamie and baby boy all the best🤍.

    I haven't had babies of my own but someone once told me you should let your partner pack your bag (not choose the bits lol just pack) as their going to be the one going in it so if they know where everything is they can get to it quicker which will help you out x

    Bless your heart Gemma xx You are being so sensible being open minded re the birth as you never know what may happen! My daughter, who was my first born, was 3 weeks early....my son, who was 2nd, was 10 days late. I had planned a home birth with him but unfortunately, due to him arriving late, I had to have him in hospital. Just go with the flow...as long as both you and baby are healthy then that is all that matters. Enjoy your last few weeks....rest and pamper yourself when you can. Take time for you and Jaimie as a couple too as you will soon be 3!! Sending you both lots of love from sunny Spain xxx

    We had the little thermal blankets from Aldi and swaddled her in those to sleep. Had about three and the nurses used two rolled up to put by her sides to sort of snuggle her up, if that makes sense x

    Im starting to pack my hospital bag for baby no.2 so loved watching this! I would say from my experience newborn babies have to stay warm and they struggle to keep warm- so put short sleeved vests under sleepsuits even for summer babies. I wouldn't worry about the romper for hospital or the hooded towel but pack more sleepsuits and vests to go under them. ❤️

    I would recommend packing some more sleep suits. They can go through so many in a day. Boys in particular, wee EVERYWHERE! I'm so excited for you to meet your son. My baby boy was one month old yesterday and I get the dread about him growing up too. He has already changed so much in such a short period of time. We also have a 2 year old daughter and it truly is amazing watching them grow and learn. You're going to be such an amazing mummy xx
