    I have simple continuity in my cobra 1 lengths, same exact shaft in the irons and the hybrid.

    I did exactly that, and I love it. The weights of my clubs are 100 gr in the wedges, 90 grams in the 6-9 iron, 80 grams in the 4-5 iron, and 70 grams in my hybrid 3.

    AJ I thought that this video was going to be about the process for putting an iron shaft -either parallel or taper-into a hybrid head and the calculations to figure out how much to trim from these shafts etc. in other words, the club builder how to video. Cheers.

    I was actually talking about this same issue on the MGS forum the other day. I have a set of 4-LW Recoil Proto 125 Stiff shafts but I don't play a 4 iron and may even retire my 5 iron and replace them with hybrids. So I was trying to determine if I could do exactly what this video is about. As long as I have hybrids the taper tip shafts fit, I should be good. Thanks for the great video and content.

    You didn't mention anything about swing weight differences. I would guess that heavier iron shaft would decrease the swingweight, unless you are able to adjust the weights in the head or add weighted tape. Was the iron shaft same length or shorter than the hybrid shaft this should also influence swingweight.

    Interesting video AJ. Just a little less spin with the iron shaft and a little flatter flight as a result. I think you could game the iron shaft in the hybrid with a little bit of work, and maybe with a tweak of the cog, assuming Mizuno has an adjustable hosel.

    A while back I cut down my 3 hybrid 17 degrees to 6 iron length. This is now a very versatile club. I use it for hitting low 150m shots under trees and is great for chipping on links courses with the shorter shaft. More feel and control around the greens. Cutting it down has made the head a lot lighter. Should I add lead tape? Also, what if I put an actual 6 iron shaft into the head instead? Would this lessen the feel and would it hit the ball further? I love tinkering with golf clubs so love your informative channel.

      The raw length is longer and the torque is usually higher in the hybrid shafts.

    I know I’ve seen tons for articles about putting a driver head on a 3W shaft. But I’ve never seen it the other way. I don’t even have a DR in my bag. My 3W is my “driver” and I hit it very well. I’ve had the thought of getting a second identical shaft but just at DR length. Thinking the extra few inches will increase club head speed and get a few more yards out of it. But is that doable? Not sure if the flex needs to change or shaft weight or I might lose accuracy. And ideas on it??

    are woods shafts same as hybrids (except for length off course)?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Месяц назад

      Length difference is important but they also have different tip diameters so you can't put a hybrid shaft in a fairway hosel and while a fairway shaft could be shimmed into a hybrid, the amount of cutting required would make the shaft feel and perform completely different from how it would in a fw.

  • @limbaraangga8541
    @limbaraangga8541 Месяц назад

    Hey i have a reverse thought. What if you put hybrid shaft into a 5 iron instead? My thought is that the combination will produce higher ball flight with the iron. And easier to launch long iron. Whats your take upon this?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  Месяц назад

      I would probably just get a lighter softer iron shaft. The hybrid shaft is made longer so you would need to cut more off it and possibly reduce the shaft diameter on the grip side.

    Isn't a 4hy more like a 3i for distance?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  24 дня назад

      Tricky question. Yes, because most golfers don't have the speed to get the distance out of a traditional 3i vs 3h. If you have the ability to hit the iron equivalent, they should be about the same distance.

  • @fretless05
    @fretless05 11 месяцев назад

    I question your presumption. Even if you have 120g shafts in your irons and 75g in your hybrid, if the swing weights come out the same, then you shouldn't feel the difference. As you know, the weight of the head is as important as the weight of the shaft. I'd be curious what the change in swing weight was when you swapped out the shaft.

    • @EFGMC

    Your irons were Project X 6.0 shafts. Why didn't you try those in the hybrid? I wonder what the result would be.
    Since a hybrid is supposed to be in between an iron and a wood I would expect to see more iron/steel shafts in the hybrids treating them more like irons and saving the graphite shafts for the woods.

    Hi! I have exact same thought of putting Axiom Long iron 75 S flex into my Sim 2 Rescue 3 hybrid, and I did put it the Axiom into it. I also cut it into the exact same length 40.25 (shaft length without grip) as per TaylorMade website of the sim 2 rescue 3hy, but now I have a problem that the swing weight jumped into D5 which kinda too heavy for me. any helpful advices to solved this issue?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  10 месяцев назад

      I would recommend playing it a little shorter. Try choking down 1/2 inch and see how it feels / performs. I am willing to bet you won't lose any distance from this, and should pick up consistency. That will bring the effective SW down to around D2.
      If you like it, you can cut it down permanently.
