I am from the Czech republic from Prague and when I see something like this video, It makes me very proud. Nothing is better then strangers love a place where you live. It is nice to hear that tourists from many countries like this city. And thank you for that :) CZ is small country so we have to be proud of every little things :) Great video and sorry for my english.
+Vincent 79 Basic path: Prague Castle - then walk the way down to the Charles Bridge - follow to the Old Town Square and Venceslav square from there. There are many places to suit different tastes, many museums, opera, party places, some great restaurants. Beer not to be forgotten as well as local food ("svitchkova" or duck) with dumplings. Enjoy your time in Prague ;)
***** Thank You Vincent, I Love London, have been three or four times and will be back with my fiancee hopefully next year. BTW if you like ZOOs, the Prague one is not bad at all (but it gets chilly these days). Enjoy your trip to Prague ;)
***** That is very kind of You thank you. There is a mirror maze that is kind of cool and in downtown www.maze.cz/ (another one is in Petrin area in Petrin Tower (aka small Eifell tower ) but is not so good. One hour Boat trip can be great fun too and with excellent views of Prague Castle. Also check this page - skip the "Sea world" as it is small and not worth the visit. www.myczechrepublic.com/prague/children_entertainment.html
In my opinion Prague is the best city in Europe. It used to be Stockholm in Sweden but Prague has overtaken Stockholm. It's a place where Eastern Europe truly meets Western Europe, Germanic meets Slavic. Beautiful.
Peace Dweller Stockholm is a shithole and you can build a wall around it and the world wont miss a thing! Its the most cost for Sweden as a nation per/capita
Stockholm might be one of town i repell and have no feelings for what so ever. If say Tahiti or Playa Hermosa you are on. Muslims or not the town itself are a bubble.
how "Easter Europe"meetsv"western europe"?what is "eastern european" about PRG?there has been no historic connection to "eastern europe" apart from 40 years of soviet domination(read:40 years out of 1000+years history). It is fair to say PRG is "post-communist" and "slavic"....but eastern european....where,how?:)
We have been to Prague and the Czech Republic twice during Christmas time. It is truly magical! Mark talks about seeing the sunrise on the Charles Bridge - don't miss it at nightfall. We were there as the lamplighter passed down both sides in his top had, tails and white scarf, lighting the gaslamps with his long pole with a hook on the end. This, with the swans swimming in the river below and the fairy-tale castle/cathedral gleaming from above, made it truly magical.
The only thing I want to say is, if you're staying for a couple of days in Czech rep., go to the countryside! Visit the Sumava mountains, Krakonose mountains, do a bike ride, visit that Krumlov city, etc. If you're on a vacation here, don't waste it on just Prague (which is beautiful indeed), explore, you won't regret it!
My first day in Prague was full of paranoia as our tour guide told us to watch our pockets. Apparently pick pocketing was bound to happen. By my second day in Prague I felt like a pro at keeping my stuff safe and it was the perfect practice for visiting other places in Europe where there would also be pick pocketing. With that said, after visiting Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest, I have to say Prague was my favourite. The Czechs are doing something right that just makes me want to live there
I'm from the UK. I recently took my first trip abroad for 12 years, my first as an adult and my first solo trip abroad. I chose Prague as my destination of choice. All I can think about is going back. It's such an amazing city, I'm even considering learning Czech as the country itself seems like it would be a great place to move to. In the meantime though, the city has ignited a passion for travelling and I've already got several trips around Europe booked.
If you are white, you will be welcome. There live thousands of expats in Prague (expat = a forreigner who moved to the country and lives there as an inhabitant, working here etc.). One expat is a part of our family. If you are not white then gtfo cuz strange nations are only destroying western europe culture and pull the old residents away from their countries. Nobody wants these folks here. No matter if they are good humans or not, the next generation after them is usually a bunch of junks and troublemakers. Its a logic, no worthy soul want to spawn in black body when the life comes to existence. Only junk souls do that. Thats why even good immigrants have terrible children. However there are a few black strangers living in the city, they are connected to drugs and prostitution and shady activities and people look at them with hateful sights. This country will be safe as long as these folks will be strictly hated there and will not feel well enough there to move there. I was personally in Britain few years ago, lived in suburb and i felt there really unsafe, seeing niggas with long knifes walking around at night. I will never come back there as the cities are polluted with human waste. The same about Vienna, in 90s it was a nice city. Now there are too many strangers at public places and dont feel comfortable there anymore. And about racism - yes czechs are racists and xenophobes. No matter what kind of bullshit you can hear from official places (bribed trashy politicians and pseudo political correctness), people in central/eastern Europe have their own opinion and experience. Better safe than sorry. As western europeans already have noticed.
I only watched this video because I wondered what you could possibly hate about Prague. I went there for two days alone while I was staying in Berlin and I absolutely loved it. I don't think you can avoid the tourist sprawl anywhere you go. However I did ask a young person who worked in the tourist area, where I should go to meet some young locals. I hit up the bar that night and spoke to some young Czechs for hours. (They all spoke english.) I agree with this man, the Czech people were very friendly, especially the young people.
I liked the city , I felt that the ppl were nice enough, it was somewhat easy to get around, it wasn't cheap perse but affordable , no complaints. Walking tours are a must, the history of the place will blow your mind.
We just returned from Prague. All that was said was right on. Loved it all, especially the energy and history of the city. Awesome experience. This is a good summary.
I loved Prague. Stayed out of town on the tram route. The trams are punctual to the second, even in the snow! Visited the TV tower with the babies crawling up it - the most creepy thing ever. They don't have faces! Excellent city.
prague is beautiful, went last year just before christmas and we had a hotel room just looking onto the market square where the astronomical clock is. it was stunning
I would like to THANK YOU very much as you are one of a very few people who realise that The Czech Republic is in fact in Central Europe. Glad you enjoy yourself there. All the best.
I'm from Greece and I can say for sure that Prague was one of my favorites cities ever! Loved everything about it! I also liked the people! I have to say that you are a very good looking country :p
was in prague a few years ago and cannot wait to return for a visit. The ambiance, people, Charles Bridge, the castle make for a unique experience. Just wish i could speak Czech a lot better besides a few words here and there.
We were in Prague the last week of May, 2014. It has the history of Rome, the architecture of a Florence and the romance of Venice with a little Disneyland thrown in! The duck, cabbage and dumplings were my favorite as well plus the beer. If you have not been to AgHarta Jazz club, check it out! Great music! We look forward to going back. We found it more economical for us to pay in Czech Crowns instead of Euros as we got a better exchange rate for US$.
Praha is an amazing beautiful city. Have been twice and visiting again later this year. Probably my favourite city, the food and beer is superb. So many awesome sights. Love the city,
Prague is certainly worth a visit! The nightlife being referred to is caused by the cheap flights from EasyJet,Ryanair to Prague and there are many! It's mainly British men aged 18-35 going for a good time!Prague comes in 2nd after Amsterdam for weekend breaks for young British men!A few years ago the Mayor of Prague said things have to be toned down regards to the young and drunk Brits coming! It's for birthdays and bachelor parties that alot of travel companies cater for in Prague.
Take your time in Prague and visit also the quarters outside the old town, like Vinohrady, Žižkov, Karlín, Vyšehrad, Dejvice or even South city of panel suburbs (Háje station). The variety of different styles and environments is amazing.
I visited Prague with my wife in 2014. It was great. We must have been very lucky. Our hotel was four star. £20 per person per night inc breakfast. A four star restaurant attached. Incredibly cheap with excellent food. Public transport very good. Food. Beer. Architecture. Charles bridge. The castle. All wonderful. We aim to return. We could live there. Avoid the main areas for food but there are lots of reasonably priced mixed in. Pork knuckle. Will try the duck next time. We stayed at Villa Schwaiger near a large park in the embassy area. We love Prague. Lots of art. Jeff Veronica.
Mark I CRIED watching this video! I went to Prague in january and this video just made me remember my whole trip and amazing days i spent there!!! I wish i had this video before but now im glad i enjoyed this lovely city!
You mentioned music only peripherally. The concert scene in Prague is unbelievably fabulous! Everything from jazz to classical, and even the street musicians are well above average.
it really is a fantastic place for that. I think I talked about the theater and shows in my top 10 prague video. but yes there are so many great concerts at good pricdes there. great place to gain culture
For foodies, here're a few suggestions to make you love Prague even more: Lokál restaurants are some of the best, serves fresh Pilsner. For a bit upmarket, I like Pod Věží, literally under the tower (Little Quarter side). U Kunštátů for a huge selection of beers (building has a Romanesque cellar, once the dwelling of a Hussite king). Naše maso, fab deli.
Yes, that true explain . The first time visited Prague - Czech Republic , i get falling in love with this country. Thats why i have planning to move and staying in this country . Greetings from Bali - Indonesia
Yes it is unique and dont miss the zoo, which is awesome, and the museums. They also have a few thrift shops if you look. Do remember to wear sturdy shoes as the cobblestone streets can wear you out. The entire country is beautiful.
I was living in Prauge for 5 years, out of all the EU cities, I'd rank it top 1, not only I was there for quite some time, but only it's too great, people, culture, buildings and beer(which I miss the most). If you've never been there, but a ticket, take your ass right off, you won't regret.
Eva Seidl and what if you were eastern europ are you ashamed because of them ? I m moroccan traveling and I study in romania .. is just a cool country with nice people
You're excitement is infectious! I really enjoy your videos, and you've inspired me to see the world! Thank you for educating us. You really have caused me to look at the world differently!
Hi all, I have been living in Prague for my whole life (25 yeras now) and I really like the summary this video makes. I simply agree with all of it. Just to add a few things: Prague is safe. There are no particular places to avoid, maybe only the areas around the Main Railway station. It is full of junkies (this is historical, because in the early 90s many people from eastern countries ended up here on their way to the west). Not that anyone would kill you, but you can be robbed. But do not worry, just don't be dumb and think and it will be ok. Same for other places - you don't find a ghetto that is really dangerous in here, but again, think and don't be dumb. Take care of your personal things, many picpockets can happen. Especially when you travel back from the party drunk as hell. Second, I love beer and if I can recommend, do not take Gambrinus, Budvar, Staropramen or Pilsner. Yes, they are Czech brands, but now we call it Eurobeer, it all tastes like Heineken or so. It is not bad, but it is nothing special. In Prague, especially in the suburbs there are a few local breweries having their own beer, which I only recommend - Jihomestsky pivovar, Hostivar, Pivovar Luziny. And last but not least - avoid U Fleku restaurant - it is just a tourist place, the beer is not bad, but for their price not worthy - and the service is so arogant. They don't care about you, because their pub is in every tourist guide, and next day another tourists will come regardless to your references. If you have any questions, just ask here or by private message, I would love to help anyone. Enjoy Prague.
I am sorry for late response. I actually do not know many hostels, I know that Az Hostel should be fine. And supermarkets have similar or same prices all over the city. I prefer Globus, but there are only like three of them in the suburbs. Billa is quite fine, Tesco is OK. Albert is bad, but some thing are ok in there.
I'm not a beer drinker, but father likes Budvar; I think out of the four Dan named, it's the preferable one. But yes, totally, the smaller brands are much likelier to be *the* Czech beer... Lidl is here, too, but I think you can only find it at the outskirts. Albert is the cheaper supermarket out of the other three; Billa is a little bit pricier (not by much), but also tends to have wider offer and better quality. But the offer also depends on how large the local supermarket you've happened to find is... I don't remember about Prague, but you can also find Interspar and Kaufland in this country. It's been a while since I was in either, but my overall impression is quite good. And Penny Market, which prides itself on carrying a lot of Czech products, although to tell the truth, I think that's mostly in comparison to Lidl (which carries nearly none Czech brands) because they are more or less in the same market slot (also usually to be found at the outskirts). Albert has its own line of bio products - where I'm inclined to doubt the truthfulness of the "bio" label, but it means it carries some things that I think are otherwise often difficult to find in Czech supermarkets. And if I remember correctly, Interspar has probably the best choice of cheeses. Overall, I think even large Czech supermarkets have, sadly, less of a wide choice than comparably smaller supermarkets in e.g. the Baltic countries. In terms of food, Czechs are quite conservative, and it shows. What we have a fairly nice choice of is, for some inexplicable reason, yoghurts, with both local and international brands. Practically as a rule, the local ones are much better, although they lean heavily towards the high fat content end of the spectrum; if you don't like that, take Hollandia - which, despite the name, is a Czech brand. It's more expensive than most, but a) the cup is a bit larger, b) it's just great. Oh, and people with diabetes, you're looking for the "DIA" label, and people with gluten intolerance, you're looking for "bet lepku" or "bezlepkový".
Beer is a popular subjekt of arguing in Czech, so my advise will be the opposite:) Don't be a beer snob drinking only IPAs from microbreweries (which are basicaly the same all over the world) and try some good old Staropramen, Pilsner or Svijany in local pubs! Just avoid the tourist traps and try the local places (usually easy to recognize - no Russian menu, big sign claiming "Typical Czech cuisine" and pictures of food in the front;) ).
Love your enthusiasm! Love Prague too, of course. For those not backpacking, would just like to add do not take a cab from the train station. Take the metro (red line, right in the modern part of the station) or the tram, or find a way to order a cab by phone. AAA and Profi are okay -- but only if you call them or order one at their kiosk (there are kiosks at the airport, don`t know about train station right now.) But just at the cab stand, no. The pickpockets are extremely skillful but they do it without violence (or, most of the time, your awareness). Do take precautions. And just avoid the heavily touristed areas. Take a right or left and get away. The buildings will be no less stunning, and you never run the risk of entering a "bad" area, and you won`t get really lost. As for districts, there is great variety - from the near wilderness of Šárka park, to the open spaces of Letna and Stromovka parks, and "grungy" Žižkov, post-industrial Holešovice, Karlín, Vyšehrad, tony Vinohrady. All these have markedly different different characters - if you have the time.
Great video and a fair assessment of Prague. Prague is my favorite city in Europe. I spent two years in the Czech Republic studying abroad in college and went to Prague several times. I loved everything about the city and if I had to live in Europe, Prague would be my choice place to reside.
Hii, I'm from Brazil and I love your channel! Congratulations! And your tips are really helpful... I went to Prague this July and I just love that city! Highly recommend for everyone.
I hate tourist traps, but couldn't help but loving Prague. The people were helpful, the city is beautiful. I found very underrated Franz Ferdinands residence in Konopište castle, 30 min from Prague. Do check it out.
Thank you for saying these cool things about Prague, it makes me so happy to see that people like our capital city. Even though they think we are still Czechoslovakia, everyone knows Prague, haha.
Wolters World Sir, if i landed on Old Town Square, where should i start walking? left? right and are there signs i can follow so i can visit the entire city? Did you also feature Tromso Norway and Poland?
Knotty Chan The touristy parts of the city have direction signs to the important, there are also maps in places. I would suggest you plan your path beforehand or at least identify places you would like to see so you can decide which way to go when you get there.
+Jana Linkova I plan on visiting Prague this summer, but I was always curious about the differences with Czechs and Slovaks (hence Czechoslovakia). Are the two similar or very different (culturally, etc.)? Over the years, I've gotten the impression that Czechs and Slovaks don't get along so well.
Mike S I am Slovak. Czechs think we are ungrateful which is dumb. Because they ruined so much in Bratislava while we were Czechoslovakia. They think we are their brothers.. Us Slovaks we think pretty much nothing much about them.
Your enthusiasm for and enjoyment of Prague is infectious! It far outweighed the negative points (which is mostly common sense, or things others have mentioned).I'm interested in visiting, and these videos you make are useful for finding out about a place.
Bravo! Your presentation of my favorite Central European city was informative, entertaining, enthusiastic, etc. your articulate outline of what Prague is all about was right on the mark, and reminds me of my late friend joe, who was also well traveled, and also able to capture the essence of a place with brevity, and good humor. He once recommended, to a persistent and obnoxious (drunk) guy going to Prague, to visit the budvar factory, get a bunch of beers, lock himself in his hotel room , and he would have a wonderful time. Keep up the good work!
Prague is awesome. Seriously awesome. We just uploaded our top 10 Prague as well so that should help and we have a new video I am uploading tonight or tomorrow on some of the differences between the Czech republic and the US for travelers to know. Money, language, tipping and such :)
I was in Prague this summer and I totally agree, it's one of my favorite cities, probably THE favorite after Nice, France. Have you been to Nice? Otherwise you have to go, I'll check for videos. Anyway, Prague. I'm so glad you mentioned the Jewish cemetery, because that is just so unique and moving and awful but one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had on a vacation. I'd like to hear more about the Bone Church though, even though it's not in Prague itself, it's close and deserves some attention. Otherwise, thanks for a great video.
I loved Prague, but there is one thing that i'd add to the not liking part - it's the smoking inside. In most places in Europe it has already been banned, but in when you go for a beer or a coffee in Prague, you end up coming home smelling like an ashtray... A thing that would be on my top 5 love list is David Cerny's art and how it integrates in the city. I loved going hunting for it, and discovering other awesome gems while doing that :)
Im an 20yo guy from austria and im about to visit prague in two weeks. Very great and helpful recommendations and very sympathic guy, gonna subscibe your channel!
Another great video Mark and I concur with everything except I did not experience any street drunks or harassment. I was there last year for 8 days and explored the city in to the very early morning hours every single evening and was never concerned. Anyway, like you, Prague is in my top three cities in Europe. Look forward to returning soon!
off to Prague on 28th December for 5 nights to see the New Year in-This will be my 10th visit and its an abs stunning place-like every place it has an undesirable element but also like every place if you use your common sense you will never have a problem-We tend to 'get out' of Praha1(central) during the day and find that the prices drop dramatically so when you head back to Old Town/Wenceslas Square etc you dont mind paying a bit extra-I must say over the years prices have of course gone up but for draught beer even in the 'Theme' bars ie George & Dragon/Rocky O Riellys etc its only what i would call 'english' (home) prices so not to bad -So if ure going -Enjoy !!!!
The restaurants on the fringe of downtown, on the other side of the Vltava, were terrific and priced much lower than central Prague. Don't forget to check out the FREE Celestial Clock Show every night, incredible.
+omphus1 Even more on a bright autumn day - me and my sister went there at the begining of October once (end of September / begining of October is usually nice "Indian Summer" days here in the Czech Republic, though not always) - the forests on the hills are turning colourful and it's just awesome. Karlštejn is another tourist trap, though - and a lot of what you see in the shops along the way has next to nothing to do with Czech history and culture and many of the owners seem to be Russian (just like in the Old Town in Prague). It's got important history, of course, but it's nearness to Prague means it's very much on the beaten track. For a more thorough Czech castle / chateau experience, I would recommend places like Pernštejn (awesome architecture!), Konopiště, Český Šternberk, Ploskovice (practically unknown by foreign tourists, a bit in disrepair from the outside, no good places to eat, but still so worth it), a number of chateaus in Moravia like Buchlovice, Bučovice, Boskovice (we're always amused by the similarity of those three names; the places are all different). You could get into places with much less English speaking people, but also see things you can't see in every guidebook (but occasionally can see in movies!).
Yep I've been to most of those places you have mentioned as my wife is Czech so we are often in the country. So many cool unknown places in the middle of nowhere and often a pub nearby with great food and beer :D
Yeah! I was definitely a party tourist and loved it. Prague is one of my favourite cities in Europe too! I hate Paris (So does my girlfriend, and she's French), but I also love Rome. Top 3 are: London Rome Prague HANDS DOWN!!!! This place is so cheap to drink. Seriously it makes Eurotrip look kind of accurate.
Great minds think alike, although I didn't really like Berlin. My full list is 1London 2Rome 3Prague 4Barcelona 5Toulouse 6Cannes (only went for a few hours) 7Milan 8Budapest 9Munich 10Venice
we just came back from the trip and what we said exactly the same “ Berlin would have look like this without ww2” I am totally agree with your all impressions about Prague!
I would love to say something about this video. I am from Prague and I love this city and Czech people. Absolutely agree what he saying. BUT let me say when he talking about DRUNK people in central Prague. They are not actually Czech people but Drunk tourist and most of them is English tourist. To be honest we don´t like them either.
Milan Razga they are totally English tourists. and American. so I apologize for my countrymen and you are right that is just prague and really central tourist area prague at night. thanks for writing!
Regarding the Wilson train station (yes, the main station is named after US President): the first class lounge is on the top floor in the old building (with the dome and art deco café) and it fulfills your "openess" requirement. The park is actually a designated place for drug use by the city council. If you try to shoot cocain elsewhere in the centre the cops will take the drug away from you and fine you. If you do it in the park by the main station, they will either ignore it, or merely check your ID if you are new in order to see if you are wanted. Sometimes they might check what amount of drugs you have, and if you don't exceed the misdemeanor limit (for example up to 1,5-3gs of cocain), they will leave you alone. It works well, you don't see junkies using drugs on Wenceslas square which is only 300ms down the road, or elsewhere. And it is actually quite safe. Problems occur now and then with new foreign thugs who come to town and get mislead by the looks of the park and don't realize that it is actually one of the most policed areas in the town (there are scores of cameras and always at least three cops around). Needless to say that those usually get arrested pretty fast. Also, Czech Republic is one of few places in Europe with shall issue conceal carry permit. That contributes to the thugs preferring foreigners - they know that foreigners aren't armed unlike many Czechs.
Just been, it's fantastic! It is cheap for food and it's amazing! I didn't see any beggers or tramps! The Czechs are the friendliest people, it was like being at home in Liverpool!
+Grant Stephen McCulloch I wonder if it has anything to do with the cold weather? I am going there tomorrow and imagine it will be less crowded (a bit maybe) since it is not high tourist season. Thoughts?
I was most amazed by historic architecture with so many beautiful statues everywhere. One thing I didn't like much was the uneven streets paved with hard stone bricks though they were very well worn out but the gaps between the rocks were rather annoying to walk with heeled boots.
+Jane Lee It is hard to cover the history with asphalt :( actually all those old town paths are often hated by my fiancee - with high heels ;) but at the end it is really better the way it is ;)
+Jane Lee The Czech wisdom is you don't wear heels for walking. :D Part of the reason why some people comment on the Czech's terrible fashion sense: we tend to prefer comfortable shoes.
There are still very cost effective places to stay and eat in Prague, but you have to be willing to get out of the tourist zone. You can have a very decent lunch in a Czech pub for about $3 and that includes a pivo, but please don't act like American tourists. I love Prague and her people. Someone asked if the women were hot. Prague women dress like girls, meaning nice skirts and dresses, hose, heels, and they look great. Everyone walks there so you don't see a lot of obesity. It's an easy city to get around in and very, very sophisticated. The music scene is simply phenomenal, no matter what you're in to. I haven't been since 2010 so it's about time for another trip.
r93 They are Slavic women and not to be messed with. They are nice to anyone that doesn't try to play them, then they'll make mincemeat out of your balls.
I went to Prague once when I landed in Prague: YAY YAY YAY YAY. Landing back in England: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I LOVE PRAGUE SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Emma Stevenson Wow I'm so jealous, I absolutely love Prague, just got back from my short trip there. Enjoy your stay, I hope you'll love it as much as I do! :)
I'm visiting Prague this year along with Vienna and Budapest. The things you are mentioning that are bad are common to many cities in Europe that I've visited.
cool guide dude me and my girlfriend are going next april for 11 nights to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and we are both beer lovers I have had budva before and its so good!
If you are beer lovers you will love Prague :-D Pilsner is really amazing beer, but we have lot of beers from small breweries too and these beers are great :)
Going to Prague next July for the second time & cannot wait to see it's beauty & the beer. 26 years on I wonder what I will remember & summer this time
Thank you very much for your video. I m a secondary school English teacher and I love the way you present our capital. All of my students will love your video as well. 🙋♀️💙 When I see your video it also makes me proud it s my country you re talking about 😍😎💃
you just got me excited for my week holiday there and I can't think of a better time for my GCSE art homework to hit as the cultural differences here will score more marks, I'm really gonna enjoy going there my dad said when he went it was so historic it was like walking back through time 2 days to go! yay!
Prague is nice but I could not agree more about the tourist traps. At one restaurant I saw they swap the menu as soon as they discovered that I was a tourist with some kind of "special just for you" something. I soon realized that the only thing that was special was the prices. Annoying.
I came 5 days ago from Barcelona. I've never been so worried in the city as in Barcelona did not. The same in Nice, France. In Thailand natives are also other tourist prices. Also, I was a little disappointed. Everywhere in the world there is something better .... but it is a little angry than to be robbed. When you know the whole history of why this is so, you will understand. But this behavior is not sorry.
Knightonagreyhorse Do you think this guy applyed to work as a host at Lujo Total? Great to know according to this guy were are to much party & tourists expensive. Good for me my love for Tera Joy is price less.
You just made me smile a lot! My husband and I are spending New Years eve in Prague this year. We were surprised by the prices. I mean of course everything is more expensive during the holidays but holy crap our hotel is killing us! I cant wait though it looks like such a wonderful city. Thanks for the tips!
Actually, the priest on the bridge legend goes, that he was keeping secrets of the queen, and the king became jealous and tried to force the priest to say it all, but he didnt talk even when tortured, so they killed him by drowning him below that bridge. The truth is actually really different - John of Pomuk was a secretary of John Hus, another priest, who criticised the church (Like Martin luther, only earlier) and one time, John Hus got too far, king got pissed, and ordered him to be arrested. Hus got lucky and escaped, but John of Pomuk was captured. He was interrogated, and they went a little bit too far, and killed him accidentaly. After that, his body was dumped in the river.
Thanks mark for all the info you highlighted in your video,I just came back from a week in Prague. I loved it so much and sure I will be visiting again. Thanks again and keep up the good spirit .
Amazing city. One thing we really didn't like was the fact that the Czech republic is one of the few places in Europe where you can still smoke inside restaurants/bars/clubs. Yes, they have non-smoking sections.. but those are just tables where are feet from the smoking tables. Not exactly effective! But everything else was amazing.
+Akira Evil If you were visiting Prague for a couple of days what places should you see? Your English is better than my Czech!
+thegougy Thank you for this, if I had the time in Prague would come and meet you and buy you a beer. If you ever come to London, let me know.
Beautiful.
Peace Dweller
Stockholm is a shithole and you can build a wall around it and the world wont miss a thing!
I love Prague but London for me wins.
@@peterlarssonhedlof6515 You are either a troll, or a complete idiot
Yep. As a wise man once said: "This is not a country, this is a garden"
Fake Grohl helpful! I appreciate the tips
The Czechs are doing something right that just makes me want to live there
I couldn't agree more. I've been to many places in Europe but man Prague is just the best!
ArcanicFire I went on the same tour +Slovakia:D
Better than Warsaw?
I love YOUR energy Wolter.
His name is Mark. You're welcome! 😜

How does this not have over a million views yet? I'm gonna share it on facebook right now.
How old are you?
Prague is one of the best cities in Europe. Rich history and great architecture.
prague is beautiful, went last year just before christmas and we had a hotel room just looking onto the market square where the astronomical clock is. it was stunning
I would like to THANK YOU very much as you are one of a very few people who realise that The Czech Republic is in fact in Central Europe. Glad you enjoy yourself there. All the best.
Nikky Martin glad I can help out :)
I went the last week(i am from Mexico),i really love Prague, beautiful ladies and amazing history.
Absolutely loved Prague, it was a winter wonderland!
Nice tips.
Love Prague. So much history everywhere....
:) all the best!
Prague was great. Went their on a three country tour in 2008. Prague is affordable compared to Vienna and the people were wonderful.
For foodies, here're a few suggestions to make you love Prague even more:
Lokál restaurants are some of the best, serves fresh Pilsner.
For a bit upmarket, I like Pod Věží, literally under the tower (Little Quarter side).
U Kunštátů for a huge selection of beers (building has a Romanesque cellar, once the dwelling of a Hussite king).
Naše maso, fab deli.
Prague does have great vibe and energy. That’s the best description. It’s a feelimg hard to describe and it’s awesome!👍❤️
An energy all of its own. We agree.
4:00 ..... YES!!!!!! THANK YOU!!... We r not east europe country, we are central europe. Closer to austria and germany then east europe.
Eva Seidl and what if you were eastern europ are you ashamed because of them ? I m moroccan traveling and I study in romania .. is just a cool country with nice people
popeye hahaha .. calm down huni. That's not the point. I'm just saying that's like calling Dominican Republic south america
You're excitement is infectious! I really enjoy your videos, and you've inspired me to see the world! Thank you for educating us. You really have caused me to look at the world differently!
thank you. that is wonderful to hear. all the best to you leslie!
Hi all, I have been living in Prague for my whole life (25 yeras now) and I really like the summary this video makes. I simply agree with all of it. Just to add a few things:
Prague is safe.
@@rendlikk hello, what restraunts whould you reccomend in prague that are good and relativley cheap and do decent local chech food and beer.
TheJacquesStrap it is a fantastic city. glad to get a "local's" approval :) It means a lot. all the best ot you on your travels!
Hii, I'm from Brazil and I love your channel! Congratulations! And your tips are really helpful... I went to Prague this July and I just love that city! Highly recommend for everyone.
pity we have not met.I´m from Prague:-)
I hate tourist traps, but couldn't help but loving Prague. The people were helpful, the city is beautiful. I found very underrated Franz Ferdinands residence in Konopište castle, 30 min from Prague. Do check it out.
Thank you for saying these cool things about Prague, it makes me so happy to see that people like our capital city. Even though they think we are still Czechoslovakia, everyone knows Prague, haha.
Jana Linková its an amazing city
Praha is stunning, I married a lady from there and we visit it often, hard working people, respect their culture and their city !
Will be back filming again next year
Thanks for all you do@@woltersworld
Really great! As a Czech I can tell you are well informed and I appreciate that. I like all your videos!!!!
Yes, there is a lot of tourists in Prague, even on a cold winter day, such as 9th of March 10 year ago.
Beautiful city, especially at Christmas.
We agree - wonderful around Christmas.
That clock tower is stunning. I can't wait to see it in person. Thanks, always for your insight & infectious enthusiasm.
Greetings from Czech republik 😃
Awesome video! This video is getting me excited for my trip here next April!
Look forward to returning soon!
the drunks are more of a weekend issue as prague is popular for stag nights. all the best!
I think I'll put Prague on my bucket list. Just got back from Portugal. And Mark, I took your advice and visited Guimaraes in Portugal.
Well worth a visit
I like that you cut right to the chase. I'm going to Prague in two months. Thanks for the video!
I'm going to Prague for the first time next month for my birthday =]
Esmée Le-Fay cool. you will have a fun birthday I am sure of that!
woltersworld I'm excited!! =3
Esmée Le-Fay So?
Being my self and wife as well for the same reason . Hope we enjoy the stay .
How was it?
off to Prague on 28th December for 5 nights to see the New Year in-This will be my 10th visit and its an abs stunning place-like every place it has an undesirable element but also like every place if you use your common sense you will never have a problem-We tend to 'get out' of Praha1(central) during the day and find that the prices drop dramatically so when you head back to Old Town/Wenceslas Square etc you dont mind paying a bit extra-I must say over the years prices have of course gone up but for draught beer even in the 'Theme' bars ie George & Dragon/Rocky O Riellys etc its only what i would call 'english' (home) prices so not to bad -So if ure going -Enjoy !!!!
The restaurants on the fringe of downtown, on the other side of the Vltava, were terrific and priced much lower than central Prague. Don't forget to check out the FREE Celestial Clock Show every night, incredible.
Incredible city. As mentioned, Karlštejn is amazing, especially on a bright summer day. Great video.
And thank you :)
So many cool unknown places in the middle of nowhere and often a pub nearby with great food and beer :D
omphus1
Good! :D
Really convinced by your video. A friend took a semester over there and told me it was amazing also. Going there in February and pretty psyched!!
cant wait to go looks like the most beautiful place in the world !!!
Yeah! I was definitely a party tourist and loved it. Prague is one of my favourite cities in Europe too! I hate Paris (So does my girlfriend, and she's French), but I also love Rome.
Top 3 are:
London
Rome
Prague
HANDS DOWN!!!!
This place is so cheap to drink. Seriously it makes Eurotrip look kind of accurate.
Daniel Almeida And the people are the nicest in central Europe!
Great minds think alike, although I didn't really like Berlin. My full list is
1London
2Rome
3Prague
4Barcelona
5Toulouse
6Cannes (only went for a few hours)
7Milan
8Budapest
9Munich
10Venice
I'm from England so London would be way down the list.
1) Prague
2) Belgrade
3) Krakow
4) Amsterdam
5) Cesky Krumlov
we just came back from the trip and what we said exactly the same “ Berlin would have look like this without ww2” I am totally agree with your all impressions about Prague!
Milan Razga they are totally English tourists. and American. so I apologize for my countrymen and you are right that is just prague and really central tourist area prague at night. thanks for writing!
dont like what milan?
Or maybe drunk Croatian Dinamo Zagreb Hooligans :))
Milan Razga I'll be the English tourist =]
Nobody likes the English :-D ... Ahoj z Irska
Thanks for another great vlog. Prague is one of my fave cities too.
I love visiting Prague because the foods are reasonably cheap compared to other cities in Europe.
That was great. Your appreciation of Prague really comes through and it does look awesome. Good to mention central not eastern Europe.
Jane Lee my ankles still hurt :) but it is so beautiful
+Jane Lee It is hard to cover the history with asphalt :( actually all those old town paths are often hated by my fiancee - with high heels ;) but at the end it is really better the way it is ;)
+Jane Lee The Czech wisdom is you don't wear heels for walking. :D Part of the reason why some people comment on the Czech's terrible fashion sense: we tend to prefer comfortable shoes.
beth12svist according to the Czech wisdom - what do you use heels for, making dumplings? :)))

Special occasions. Going to work. Stuff like that. Not sightseeing and travel.
I'm moving to Prague in August and this video has been very helpful. I'm so excited. Thanks for sharing!
John Buffaloe all true
Are the women nice and are they nice towards Americans?
r93 They are Slavic women and not to be messed with. They are nice to anyone that doesn't try to play them, then they'll make mincemeat out of your balls.
John Buffaloe
I wouldn't mess with anyone because I don't want anyone messing with me. It's nice to meet new people, as long as they are nice.
I went to Prague once when I landed in Prague: YAY YAY YAY YAY. Landing back in England: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I LOVE PRAGUE SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky enough to go to Prague for absolutely free this summer for 6 weeks to work with some NGOs and cannot contain my excitement
+Emma Stevenson Wow I'm so jealous, I absolutely love Prague, just got back from my short trip there. Enjoy your stay, I hope you'll love it as much as I do! :)
Thank you! It looks amazing!
Thanks for the video! Your enthusiasm is contagious!
I'm visiting Prague in November.
parks goodman you will love it! have a great trip!
I'm visiting Prague this year along with Vienna and Budapest. The things you are mentioning that are bad are common to many cities in Europe that I've visited.
Amazing video. My wife is from Prague. Been going for 13-14 years. Spot on in the commentary.
I visited Prague in mid 1991. I'd love to return.
We are headed to Prague in August, so excited !!!
cool guide dude me and my girlfriend are going next april for 11 nights to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and we are both beer lovers I have had budva before and its so good!

Going to Prague next July for the second time & cannot wait to see it's beauty & the beer. 26 years on I wonder what I will remember & summer this time
Thank you very much for your video. I m a secondary school English teacher and I love the way you present our capital. All of my students will love your video as well. 🙋♀️💙 When I see your video it also makes me proud it s my country you re talking about 😍😎💃
Loved Prague! I recommend a river cruise in the evening to see the city from a different angle.
you just got me excited for my week holiday there and I can't think of a better time for my GCSE art homework to hit as the cultural differences here will score more marks, I'm really gonna enjoy going there my dad said when he went it was so historic it was like walking back through time 2 days to go! yay!
Prague is nice but I could not agree more about the tourist traps. At one restaurant I saw they swap the menu as soon as they discovered that I was a tourist with some kind of "special just for you" something. I soon realized that the only thing that was special was the prices. Annoying.
it was probably a English menu. I live here in Pilsen cz with my Czech wife and when they hear me speaking English they give me a English menu.
+David Ray They were fraudulent. I checked some reviews of that place with similar stories. Maybe not representative at all.

Do you think this guy applyed to work as a host at Lujo Total?
Great to know according to this guy were are to much party & tourists expensive.
Good for me my love for Tera Joy is price less.
Your enthusiasm is awesome! I am so looking forward to my first visit next month!! Thanks!
Thanks again and keep up the good spirit .
loved the video, thank you! it made me even more excited about my trip to Prague!
Love Prague!
Thanks for such a great info... visiting Prague from 7th Aug till 12 Aug.... afterwards Vienna & Budapest... Really excited :)
awesome! have a great trip!
man why did I discover Wolters World so late. Your channel is just topstuff.
Thank you for this! i will be visiting Prague this summer😊
That didn't aged well :D
That was one of the most helpful travel videos I have watched. Keep up the great work! :)
Angelica Hodge Thank you Angelica!
What it sounds like to me is that Prague kicks ass and the tourists get in the way - take the side streets and find the true city
Bit of trivia. Prague's castle is the largest castle in the world.
I'm not a yank, but I enjoy this dudes channel...
He makes me feel so jealous lol
