Love this video. My immediate thought was how great a fall card would look with metal leaves and the veins of the leaf scored. Thanks for the inspiration.
Omg...this is so beautiful! I will have to see if I can find the metal some place. I also have to look for the Xyron magnetic roll too as I have never seen that before. Thanks for another great video.
I saw this butterfly when i first got the explore and told my husband that it would be cute embossed. I was going to do this the metallic paper. but i didn't. I'm so glad that you did a video on it. Thanks Melody for this video.
I'm very excited to try this! My cricut comes in the mail this week!! I do scrap metal art and would love to try making some metal cricut art as well. Would pop cans be a decent thickness to do this project with? Thanks!!
Melody have you ever done a tutorial on how to make the initials/name on the lid of your Explore? Or would you do one? I just love and I am new to the Explore.
Hi there Melody, I just bought Cricut Explore Air off Amazon and it should be here tomorrow. I'm so excited to get started! If I choose to cut metal how often will I need to replace the blade? Does it really dull the blade or is it designed to withstand multiple uses? I just love your videos. Thank you for all you do for us! Much appreciation, Mandy
Do you think if you made plant labels using the same method, that they would be sturdy enough for outdoors? And are the edges sharp? I love it though and definitely need to make some butterflies.
Hello Melody I am new to cricut and love your channel! Thank you so much! Btw, I assume you are in touch with the cricut team, I have a humble request :) PLEASE if you could suggest them to have an update on selecting multiple layers at once and applying the command of scoring/writing or cutting to all layers, instead of selecting each path/ layer individually... which is very time consuming if the image is more complex. Something like in photoshop where you can select various layers at once and give the command of a specific action to all! I am pretty sure you have good influence:) Thank you again :)
Hi Melody!! Great video and very informative. I am doing my own wedding invitations and I would love to do embossing on the cardstock. My mom bought me a cricut so I could do my own invitations but I am having a hard time researching on how to emboss on cardstock with my cricut. Do you have any insight, ideas, or knowledge on this topic? Any details you could provide would be a huge help and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!
Hi there, I'm in the UK! How did you get the machine to cut out the outline? Things have never run smoothly when I've used the embossing feature. It has never cut the edge for me which is what I really need. Plus if I don't stick the tin down, it moves and gets caught up so I have to cancel and start again. Thank you for your video!
Melody your butterflies are so beautiful. Would you please do a tutorial on how you got your split monogram letters to line up so straight? I'm doing a project and can't get my letters to match up like yours. Thanks
LOVE all of your videos!! Whenever I think I want to learn something new with the Explore you already have showed us how to do it :) THANK YOU!!!! Between you, and Craftsby2- I am a pro with my explore lol. :) Can this be done on paper or cardstock?? I don't have many metal sheets and I would love to emboss some images for cards on cardstock or paper. Thanks :D
Just watched again and used the cut feature! Since it was new, it has never scored in the right place if you use the cut and score on cardstock. IIt off sets the score marks and they don't line up with the cuts. I made boxes but it was really annoying as I had to move the score lines over by eye in design space. Is there a calibration I should use?
Off topic lol but what don't did you use to personalize your cricut? I've seen someone else use that one where the main letter is split and you can put the name in the middle. I absolutely love it but have no idea what the font is called
love love your fantastic butterflies.. I hate doing something and then in the last minute it gets ruined. This happens to me from time to time. Your always so cheerful Melody what is your secret...LOL pat
I got a scoring pen but it doesn't fit in my Explore one. Do I need an adaptor? I want to cut and emboss a butterfly on foiled cardstock will that work too? I have one cutting head...how do I do that?
I tried this doing the same pattern but with a soda can. It cut the butterfly out but The styling stylus barely left anything. I pushed it in until it clicked. Do I need to put a layer of something under it? I wanted mine to be as pretty as yours!!
Ok I followed your video to a tee and mine did not score my butterfly as deep as yours and it did not cut all the way through. I used a regular blade, chose American Metal- 0.14mm. Turned off the multi cut and went as high as I could go on the cut pressure. What did I do wrong?
I forgot to mention I have a Cricut Explorer One and it only has one area to put the scoring tool. It does not click in like yours did. I pushed it in the little adapter as far as it would go and loaded it in the machine. Still did not cut through. I want to make this butterfly so bad, it's gorgeous. Someone please help me with this one. Thank you.
When I clicked attach, it made everything invisible and now I can't see anything. How do I fix that? Also, how do I get the scoring option for my own custom designs?
Hi, i have just bought 1 of these machines and the scoring stylus only makes tiny little lines, it certainly does not emboss as good as yours. any idea how to make it?
lay craft foam down first - then card stock, taping corners - - change image from cut to score - set to custom - chipboard works - softer cardstock use the custom craft foam
+Kelly Hersom With the Explore One you have to cut and then change to the stylus tool. It will have a different housing (not sure if the One comes with it or if it is a separate purchase). This is the reason the One costs less than the Explore Air.
I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS I AM NEW TO THIS AND I AM WANTING TO WRITE ON BURLAP OR FABRIC I WANT TO WRITE I LOVE YOU A BUSHEL AND A PECK AND A HUG AROUND THE NECK WHERE CAN I FIND THIS ,THEN NEXT I WANT TO MAKE A STENCIL I CAN USE TO PAINT A CROW I ALSO WANT A STAR TO PAINT ON MY CABINETS,I WANT TO MAKE STENCILS FOR MY PAINTING PROJECTS THANK YOU LIKE I SAID I AM NEW ALOT TO LEARN
I am a Cricut Explore newbie...it's on order...so I have a lot to learn.
Thanks for this inspiring tutorial.

Awesome! Didn't know I could do this with my cricut. I will definitely be trying this. Thank you! 😊
Your video was excellent!! Thank you so much for the content and how easy but concisely explain everything.
Melody have you ever done a tutorial on how to make the initials/name on the lid of your Explore? Or would you do one? I just love and I am new to the Explore.
I agree, I was just about to ask if she has one on the letters... I want to do something like that on the lid to my cricut.

Wow that's super easy and really pretty! I can't wait until I have my explore too. :D

WOW! Great idea and so pretty! Thanks for sharing, Melody! Ordering my metal now :)

Beautiful! Would you need to use hard cutting blade? Or just the standard one? Thanks!
Great tutorial! Thank you for including what didn't work for you!
You have such a nice personality! Have a great day!

This is what I've been looking for!!
Love these, do you think the foil would work for outside use?

Thanks for the great tutorial, Melody!
Hi! Where can I find the metallic paper? I loved it! Thanks!

NICE What aluminum are you using and where to get it...still trying to find wood George had in one of his video cause I forgot to ask...
Great video. Where did you get the metal from?
SO subscribed to this.. Great! Thanks for sharing!
Lave your video, great idea. Can you do a video on embosssing letters with the explorar
WOW!! I love this!!!! Thanks for the tut!! :)

Your always so cheerful Melody what is your secret...LOL

Can this stencil be used as an underlay to emboss fabric using an iron on transfer sheet?
Have you tried to score on stamping blanks? Does it work?
Where do you get the metal that will work in this machine ? Or is it just any kind
+Lady Swagga Cricut has the metal foil that comes on a roll now.
can you use old coke cans cut into usable strips? i am huge on recycling.lol
I got a scoring pen but it doesn't fit in my Explore one. Do I need an adaptor? I want to cut and emboss a butterfly on foiled cardstock will that work too? I have one cutting head...how do I do that?
since I have the Explore one that has only one head, can I emboss first with my embosser tool it then change it to cut?
I tried this doing the same pattern but with a soda can. It cut the butterfly out but The styling stylus barely left anything. I pushed it in until it clicked. Do I need to put a layer of something under it? I wanted mine to be as pretty as yours!!
+Beth L The soda can is a thicker metal. You can't put anything under it because the rollers will leave a mark on the metal.
Ok I followed your video to a tee and mine did not score my butterfly as deep as yours and it did not cut all the way through. I used a regular blade, chose American Metal- 0.14mm. Turned off the multi cut and went as high as I could go on the cut pressure. What did I do wrong?
I am having the same issue! Did you ever figure it out?
That may be it. I bought the K&S precision metal that is .005 thick & 36 gauge.
It looks like the blade cut into the mat a little as you removed the butterfly. Is that OK?
Do you need to use a deep cut blade on this?
I forgot to mention I have a Cricut Explorer One and it only has one area to put the scoring tool. It does not click in like yours did. I pushed it in the little adapter as far as it would go and loaded it in the machine. Still did not cut through. I want to make this butterfly so bad, it's gorgeous. This is really cool How did Imisthis video?
How do you transfer pictures of love one on tshirts and bags with cricut?
Hi, i have just bought 1 of these machines and the scoring stylus only makes tiny little lines, it certainly does not emboss as good as yours. any idea how to make it?
I have tried on 3 different thinkness of metal and it still makes a barely visible line, super confused
Hey, Is this the same as "Cricut Explore Air Wireless Electronic Cutting Machine "?
Yes
+Melody Lane THANK YOU. I am thinking about getting the AIR this month for my small wedding business..... BTW I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
+Unevano03 Thank you for your response
Love it!!!!!
Can you do this with a heavy card stock as well?
I am wondering the same thing.
lay craft foam down first - then card stock, taping corners - - change image from cut to score - set to custom - chipboard works - softer cardstock use the custom craft foam
Where do you get the metal paper?
where did you get the metal?
can you use the scoring wheel instead?
@@melodylane thank you, love the stuff you do
Where do you get the color metal
BeeeeeeYOUtiful!
Why doesn't my Explore One not have two ports for items to score, mark or cut? I have only one!
+Kelly Hersom With the Explore One you have to cut and then change to the stylus tool. It will have a different housing (not sure if the One comes with it or if it is a separate purchase). This is the reason the One costs less than the Explore Air.
Thanks
