Bravo! I love your humor.......blending one video into another.....like walking the old railroad track talking about a bridge..then driving over the bridge :). I love your featuring the truckers who are always so helpful! I was hauling 2 yearling colts when I heard this horrible sound. I pulled over and a trucker pulled over too. I had picked up a piece of a semi truck leaf spring. It embedded in the wood floor of the trailer and was digging into the road. We had to get inside the trailer and pound it out. I stood by the back leg of the horse incase it got scared of the noise and kicked out. This way the trucker was shielded. I could not have done this without his help. Soon we were both back on the road.
Yes slim i was waiting for some more outtakes videos. I love seeing behind the scene stuff. Youre so genuine and inspiring. You never let me down thanks so much for allowing us to be apart of your journey. Especially in times as these. I need your videos to live vicariously through you.
Thanks for showing these from the cutting room floor! They are worthy of first-takes, not out-takes! Loved your words of not fearing humans while camping.
Slim, my wife is not really a camper she’s more of a glamper person, but she really enjoys watching your nature videos and always looking forward to your next video. Thanks again for inspiring videos
Loved your Slim Bits. Agree wholeheartedly with your fear of black ice. Nearly fell off a 2000 foot cliff in Colorado Rockies to the point where my front wheels were dangling and the car was rocking. Literally had my life flash before my eyes. Kissed the floor when back home and held my daughter close.
Hi Slim. Long time fan and watcher. As a woman over 75 who has traveled, camped and lived alone for many years....here are my thoughts about anxiety concerning humans as a source of anxiety. First, I believe you must understand that men are generally stronger and bigger than women.....overall. Yes, of course, there are exceptions! But, generally, women are a a little bit less likely to be able to defend themselves against some forms of assault. Second, whether we want to admit it or not, women alone can, and sometimes, do, present a target for criminals. So, knowing this reality I have taken steps to protect myself with common sense. I have installed security and safety devices to alert me if someone is near my camper. I have learned to defend myself physically to the best of my ability. And, frankly, I have learned to know how to assess risk and to pick campsites that don’t put me in obviously rough situations. A Bit of common sense goes a long way. Yes, the overwhelming majority of people are kind, helpful and genuinely decent. However, as a woman camping and living alone, I have to say that I take care of myself as best I can......and go forward in peace.
@meh1943, being prepared for any possible threat is an excellent strategy, and I completely agree with your advice. My point is not to live in fear, and never let fear take over your life. Wilderness camping is one of the last few bastions for peace and comfort for many people, as they no longer trust cities. Once that is gone there is not hope. Understand fear and conquer it by being informed, aware and prepared. But at the same time be kind and compassionate to those around you. It sounds like you have already achieved that. More power to you! SP

Very well said. I love making my own decisions when traveling, so I frequently travel alone. I occasionally travel with friends but it can be frustrating when you want to be out in nature and they want to go to the mall.

Good Day Slim! I bought a water filter bottle w/its own filter and I purchased a 2nd one to have on hand!😁. Love ya coat! It looks warm! I finally found a real nice warm coat! Cool video. As a retired long haul trucker thanks for recognizing the work and value of the people bring all the things we all need and use daily. I think I will give that grilled cheese sandwich a try, sounds delicious.

Ever since lockdown started in Scotland your videos have been our only source of outdoor adventure. Can't thank you enough for helping us through these difficult times. Stay safe. 👍🏻
Slim, thank you so much for showing more of Alaska. It brought back 30-year old memories when my son was 12, my daughter an infant (and me newly abandoned). We would listen to "Yukon King" radio dramas every night as we went to sleep. My son and I found great escape and peace in those adventures. Hearing you describe and seeing some of the actual places brought me great joy today.
Hi Slim, Thank you for that fun video. The part I enjoyed very much was you explaining the joys of being outdoors seeing nature, touching nature, and being where you are. I try to share my love of the outdoors with as many friends as I can here in Oregon and we have some beautiful places. I tent camp year-round and spend some time on the coast in the winter. I think winter is one of my most favorite times to spend outdoors. Thanks again for the great videos!
My eyes were glued to the making of a grilled cheese sandwich but I noticed, for the first time in years of episodes, that Slim is a lefty! Learn something new everyday. :-)

Signpost Forest cracks me up! I'm a 74 year old boondocker and I feel far safer in the wilderness than in the city! Most people out there love the wilderness too:)
Hello again! Here's a good story about how great truckers are! My car was on fire while I was on the freeway. As I pulled off the next exit, a trucker had followed me off the road. He got out of his truck holding his fire extinguisher! My car was ruined, but that trucker went over and above! It could have been much worse without his watchful eye (and helpfulness!!) I hope he feels my gratitude even to this day.
Thanks again Slim for letting us know you're okay and for bouncing around the country frame by frame I hope you make it home safely. Have a great day and stay safe
I moved from a high crime area and still have plenty of faith in humanity. I pity those living in constant suspicion of everyone. Thanks for sharing your showing kindness still exists.
This was fun Slim..enjoyed these diff little clips n your enthusiasm and positive outlook..im having a very emotional day and your videos always make me smile..that good feeling inside..beautiful scenery too..i detest any cold below 50f. But I do enjoy playing in the snow..ive made my grilled cheese using mayo instead of butter..pretty good but i love my butter..i also like tomatoes or tomatoes n bacon on them..stay safe..✌💙😄
I’ve been to Skagway, it was a tourist city but enjoyable. Maybe one day I’ll get back you Alaska. So beautiful. I love the beautiful locations you take us, can’t wait to find out where location X is. I’ll have to try the grilled cheese recipe, looked good. Thanks to the kind trucker who helped you, he was a blessing. Happy trails Slim.
It looked like your Driver side headlight was not working , at the beginning of this video. I really enjoyed this video and all your North country video trip as well ! Thank you slim........
I can remember as a child i couldnt wait till after school to be outside and enjoy the snow or the forest. It was always a great adventure finding tracks.. places animals hunkered down for the night or a plant i had not really noticed before. Sometimes id just sit in a tree and watch the wildlife or other humans do their thing.. then by the time i got home, my snow suit stood by its self upright in the garage...lol. id check to see and take it to the basement to drip dry as our basement was heated. Then bring it upstairs before bed so i could put it on before school. Nobody did this for me. I forgot once and it was a chilly walk to school.. it was amazing how much kids grow each year but that coat and pants fit for several years.. and i was glad to have it. By middle school, and now on the bus i only wore it a couple times so i wouldnt miss the bus and there were no woods close to our house so the cozy coat sufficed my needs.
I'm guilty of not reading the descriptions, actually I didn't know they were there. I guess I'll start putting them on my channel. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you for your comment about not being scared of other people. Recently I am in a situation where I feel like I can trust no one and I am all alone. It's reassuring to hear from someone who chooses to travel alone, that people are good and willing to help. Somehow it's the message I think I need to remember. And I agree with you. In light of big things such as this war in Ukraine and now Israel, it can be hard to believe in humanity especially combined with how alone I actually am right now. But you give hope. Thank you. BTW when I watch your videos I put them on autoplay that is probably why people do not read descriptions. Also I usually have no interest in fixing things but I even watch your fixup videos thats how interestingyou are! Anyway a long Thank you. You are an excellent teacher your storytelling and communication skills are amazing and you sound like a cool friend
That sign forest is so cool! I will have to try the mustard grill cheese sandwich, but my favorite thing to put on a grilled cheese sandwich is a juicy slice of tomato! I like the idea for bits and pieces. Great video.
Thanks Slim -- and please don't apologize for making a video that doesn't have a brilliant motif. That's usually how life is! I don't want to criticize your menu choices (after all, they are nearly universal in this part of the world). But I want to pass along some things I was reminded of a couple of years ago. For many millennia my species has relied on foods readily available -- the hunter/gatherers. Our metabolisms adapted to eat when and what was found (irregularly available meats and fish, and in-season fruits). A few thousand years ago agriculture made certain plant seeds -- grains -- an important part of our year-round diet. They also fed our domesticated animals as that food source became prevalent. Over the last hundred years or so, there have been even more revolutionary changes in our food sources. Fruits can be eaten year-round, oils are extracted from seeds with modern machine and chemical methods, livestock is raised on artificial fodders, etc. The net result of all these changes isn't too surprising -- our DNA hasn't changed as fast as our diet has. What does that look like, and why should I care? Well, it's possible nowadays to draw a straightforward cause and effect line between our menu and many of the most prevalent diseases and conditions -- but that's only fun if you're a fanatic! More simply, it looks like the current state of our food supply, pharmaceutical, and healthcare Industries. If I am, or believe I am, healthy, why should I care? That's much simpler. Because eating supports life itself, I can't really justify a casual attitude to my behavior there without risking the easy spread of the same attitude to the rest of my life. I'm left with a very good question -- what am I responsible for?
I do love nature,, and you are right about people,, they are sometimes God sent when you are in trouble.. thank you again for sharing this amazing video.
Hi Slim, Another very enjoyable video. The grilled cheese sandwich looked very yummy. My favorite way of making them is “inside out grilled cheese”. The way I do them is butter the bread and make the sandwich as usual. Before placing the sandwich into the frying pan, I like to put a little pat of butter into the pan and allow it to melt and then sprinkle some shredded cheese into the pan. I then place the sandwich on top of the shredded cheese. Repeat the process for second side. You’ll end up with a sandwich with the melted cheese inside and a somewhat crispy, caramelized cheese on the outside. It’s my new go to sandwich.... Enjoy!!!
I love it! Your location X would be just north of the tiny Yukon town of Carcross. Again another well done episode. Thank you for your contribution also.
Hey Slim, dont worry about what your viewers might like or not. Your doing wonderful job as always. Just relax and do your thing and we'll keep wishing we were there while we enjoy your video.
I think that final closing image is of the Oregon Dunes. I noticed you cooked the sandwich on a flat gridle. I need to get one for my aliner. Loved the signed post forest. Really enjoy your videos. Been watching for a long time. Oh! I always take my ukulele with me in my travels. I know you play too. That could be a cool video too!
That grilled sandwich recipe is wicked, on the build list it goes. Thanks for a top show, it's very real and totally inspiring. Kind regards, Duncan, SA
Always enjoy your videos. Word of caution with the damp rid hanging bags. I had a couple hanging in our motorhome and didn't take them down when driving. Both leaked and a sticky goo was all over the place. It was a nightmare to get cleaned up. It leaves a sticky residue. They work great but don't leave them hanging while driving.
I passed by the signpost forest, on my way to work in Fairbanks, February, 2018, pretty cool, heh, heh... You’re right about folks helping out in the wilderness. I rolled my truck off a mountain road, just after taking a selfie of myself and wife at the Alaska/Canada border. We were definitely in the wilderness, no cell phone service, our truck totaled and I was bleeding. Help came from some young men who saw us go off the road, in their rear view mirror. They were on their way to their homes in Tok, 50 miles away. They saved us. Texas
Yup ... I saw a group of vehicles stopped at the side of the Alaskan highway, in the Yukon. They were tending to a Biker that had crashed. They decided to wait with him until an ambulance showed up (they had everything under control and needed no one else to assist).
Hello Slim, I am a deep fan of you and your stories. I'd appreciate it. In one of your episodes, I did hear you playing "In My Time Of Dying" by Led Zeppelin. I was blown away. Keep rocking and camping!
I'll add my 'me too' to enjoying the Slim Bits and clean language. That's getting hard to find these days. Thank You.
Slim, you could post videos of you counting corn kernels and it would be narrated articulately and pleasant. I appreciate that you do not curse too. I love ALL your videos ❤️🤗🇺🇲. Oh, I love that you thanked all the truckers too.

Thank you for the inspiring videos. Signed, an UK trucker 👍
Looks great from the comfort of my home!
Slim, I'm always amazed @ your careful, camera work!! ENJOYING your content, as well. Safe & extraordinary travels to you, my friend.

Hey Slim, dont worry about what your viewers might like or not. Your doing wonderful job as always. Just relax and do your thing and we'll keep wishing we were there while we enjoy your video.
Good vid.... thanks for picking up the cutting room floor.....
Slim bits...perfect!
I like your bits and pieces. Most of us are easily entertained...... especially when we're not doing much traveling these days.
That grilled sandwich recipe is wicked, on the build list it goes.
Thanks for a top show, it's very real and totally inspiring.
Kind regards,

Utah Jeff .... here ... liked the sign forest .... pretty cool ....,
You made me hungry. I made that exact grilled cheese and it was delicious. Thanks Slim
As always.................great. Thank you and you take care. Looking forward to next time.
Hello Slim, I am a deep fan of you and your stories. I'd appreciate it. In one of your episodes, I did hear you playing "In My Time Of Dying" by Led Zeppelin. I was blown away. Keep rocking and camping!
Loved this!! (Yes....reading all the descriptions too)
Quite fitting for a PotatoHead.... these “mashups” are great! 🤣
Good to see your awesome videos Slim!
