First you must define what is gambling
Meaning:a risky action undertaken with the hope of success.
So what is not risky in life?

  • @arcwindz1

We gamble every time we drive our car out there, There's a probability that some bat sh*t crazy accident could happen to us, but we practiced safe driving, we learned the rules, and with that, we hope that we'll safely arrived at our destination. What's not a gamble in life?

    • @arcwindz1
      @arcwindz1 3 года назад

      @@jamestan4659 @James Tan Why not?
      1. There's a risk
      2. There's a reward
      3. There's a know how
      4. There's luck factor involved (yes, a drunk person can sway into your way unexpectedly, a tree can fall right in front of you, etc)
an endeavor in which you buy something in hope that someone (not necessarily a fool) will buy it at higher price?
Ever heard retail business? Yeah there are all those added values, service, and so on. But the concept is the same.
People buy things at lower price, then sell it to those who need it at a higher price.

    • @arcwindz1

@Reggie Cyde I didn't think that people will actually answer my question lol. But okay, since we're at it might as well go at it.
Death, is actually not a process, it's the result. We gamble when we fight it, when we go to a doctor or going into operation room, we lose it then we die.
Taxes, it's a calculation, there's no way around numbers. But the act of paying it though is in fact a gamble in a sense.
We pay the government (risk) to do our responsibilities and maybe public facilities (reward), it's inherently a very low risk and low reward, the amount paid is not too much (at least for me) and the reward, well, sometimes taxes do get misused and when something happened, it's for public use.
Some people opt for higher risk high reward, they avoid taxes while at the same time enjoying what others enjoyed.

Two Friends meeting after not seeing each other for a long time:
    John: “what you up to?”
Mark: “oh, I am a goal trader in the football market”
    John: “is that not gambling?”
Mark: “No, cos I trade out if a goal is scored”
John: “But you are risking money on the outcome, that’s gambling, isn’t it”
Mark: “No, cos, I am very knowledgeable of the teams and trends, together with likely inplay”
John: “I see, but you are hoping for a desired result right?, isn’t that gambling?”
Mark: “No, cos I’ve done my research, and the implied probability is with me”
John: “Oh OK, but what happens if no goal is scored?”
Mark: “ah, well, that’s the good bit, I would then TRADE out”
John: “ Great, if no goal, then you would TRADE out with a win, is that right?”
Mark: “No, I would make a loss, but I never chase those loses, I move on to the next TRADE”
John: “So you would lose money if no goal is scored? Isn’t that gambling?”
    Mark: “Well, yes, I suppose”
Hiding behind a computer screen gambling, is no different to going into a smoke filled Bookies on a Saturday afternoon. All the internet has done is to “gentrify betting” so one’s friends and family are sold the “Trading” story 😊

Those who trade in cash equity as a swing trading and selling the stock after taking the delivery in their demat account are not gambling. They are the only real traders who are doing business in stock market because they are actually selling something to others which exist apart from that all forex, intra day, f&o and short sellers are all gamblers as they sell virtually thing which they do not have any possession.
Hence if you have a possession of stocks which you are holding and selling it then you are not a gambler.
You are doing a business like traders of the physical market of this world.

The biggest thing that differentiates trading from gambling is the ability to stay in the sidelines. It’s like only playing poker when you have a royal flush. It’s also the similar in lots of ways but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what you call it as long as it pays the bills.

To Rayner Teo: At 1:23 minutes: BINGO! Thank you, Rayner. This is what I wanted to hear from a scholar like yourself. I had my notions that this was gambling; since it is a game of chance. I commend you. This is music to the ears of the moralists and admonishes them to be circumspect, cautious. Classic reasons why we view and glean the Biblical words of the disclaimer -- and a virtual grilling by certain brokerages before signing up? If one can lose -- or win, it is still gambling.
It is true, though, that one can create and obey his rules and system; however, this is *never any guarantee* that one will come out unscathed. He may often correctly cut losses, but can eventually get cut by the *Chinese torture of a thousand paper cuts.* Akin to the Bible, certain spiritual applications applied may not be appreciated by the contumacious children of the devil.
