      @@brrr792 Do you see the little white, bright "tubes" that are being squished with the tweezers? That's pin feathers. Pin feathers usually happen during a birds molting season in spring. ruclips.net/video/UM030DzUWrc/видео.html
      If your bird is shy, I recommend trying to spend some more time with them, even if it's just sitting near them while you're doing something else. Get them used to your presence. Slowly move your hand towards them, but stop moving the moment they look stressed out, or scared. Keep doing that every day and eventually your patience will be rewarded.

Es una gruesa capa de queratina que se usa para proteger la pluma cuando se está desarrollando. Una vez que se forma la pluma, la cubierta se rompe y sale la nueva pluma. The birds gets new feathers all the time, mostly on changing of seasons, its like nails and hair for us humans, when such a feather grows anew its covered in some protective ... something. And it starts to itch them, on most their body, they will take care of that themselves, but on their head they cant.. so either they do scratch the heads of each other, or if they trust enough let a human do it. I however just scratched their heads with fingers, they loved it, in my case two cockatiels, albeit they were a love-pair, they both had their heads scratched by humans instead.

      Great question! It's the dead, protective sheath off the developed feather. You can learn more about it in detail here: ruclips.net/video/UM030DzUWrc/видео.html

    What are pin feathers? Should I pick my budgies pin’s too? I thought they were the new growing feathers

    • @pinfeathersgalore
      @pinfeathersgalore  Год назад

      Hi!! Thanks for asking :)
      Pinfeathers are how feathers grow out of birds! There are many development stages of pinfeathers, so I totally recommend you watch this video before you proceed, as they are sensitive!

    I have a quick question: are you supposed to remove budgies pin feathers when they're molting or is this a different thing ?_? (I hope that maked sense)

    • @pinfeathersgalore
      @pinfeathersgalore  Год назад +1

      This is a slightly different thing! I'm just removing the outer layer of the pinfeather. I made a video explaining this process:)

    How often does this need to be done done?

    • @pinfeathersgalore
      @pinfeathersgalore  Год назад +2

      Usually budgies have 2 very large molts twice a year: once when their summer feathers come, and once when their winter plumage comes. It's a glorious mixture of dust, little down feathers floating around everywhere, with pinfeathers galore!
      But on occasion pinfeathers will pop up randomly to replace old feathers that dropped, so I probably do this once a month or so :) and only when the birds are kind enough to let me. Hope that answers your question!

    Can you explain me why do you do this?. I'm affraid don't know anything about birds. She's very pretty!!🐦😍❤️🌟

    • @shinybirb2114
      @shinybirb2114 Год назад +3

      The pinfeathers are new feathers, they grow in that casing until they're ready. A bird can get to pinfeathers pretty much anywhere on their body apart from the head, so usually another bird will help. Pet birds have humans to help them though.

    I saw this and was like: why do I never see pins on my birds feathers? But now I know what they are actually doing all the time when I think they are having snuggles and giving each other massage nibbels! They are grooming each other!🥰🪶

    • @pinfeathersgalore
      @pinfeathersgalore  Год назад +1

      You are correct!! This is how birds help preen each other and pick off the keratin sheaths of their pinfeathers at hard to reach places!
