The “aroma of Tacoma” was originated from a pulp mill in the port close to I-5 freeway. The pulp mill had an odor from processing. Pulp mill no longer exists no more odor making its way to passers by.

Tacoma to Sea Tac morning commute 1 hour +. Afternoon 2 hours+. Thats if no one wrecked when it might be 3-4 hours. At midnight its 30 min Tac to SeaTac. I worked out of an office in Burien that was directly west of the SeaTac tower. Some days it was better to just pay the money and take the ferry to Vashon Island and then the ferry to Tacoma. Still 2 hours but no traffic.

Life long resident of Tacoma, My family has lived here since 1896 when Grandfather immigrated here. Last summer I sold my house and got the heck out. Too many little thugs and thieves running around, street racers the police wont do anything about because they are too busy writing radar tickets, Gangs and drug ridden apartment houses. Tacoma govt is just as bad as Seattles in welcoming the homeless with all kinds of free handouts. Having to be armed while mowing the lawn in the front yard. And my former home was in the "good" part of town. You dont want to move here.

woah! that’s a lot of good info. Are any areas safer than yours was? I have a few friends in Tacoma who are happy there.

@@leslie_simpson_realtor I was happy there too but got fed up with the crap. I lived in University Place and literally if you painted your mailbox post the city would reassess your taxes. The whole area has gone to hell. Each apartment complex is home to a different gang. It isnt a good sigh when there are big signs put up by the county saying "High drug area. You will be stopped and searched after dark for drugs."

@@kolsen6330 Your Tacoma horror story's sell-by date was a couple of decades ago. I've lived here since 1979, and it's light years better than it used to be. Which is true of almost any place, big or small, that was hit hard by the de-industrialization of the 1970's. I've never seen a "You will be searched for drugs" sign, and I have worked in the Hilltop neighborhood for nearly fifteen years. The way I see it, as long as billionaires get free hand-outs with my tax dollars, people who are hungry, cold and vulnerable should, too. I'll take any one of my homeless patients over the kind of malcontents who don't have the spine to live in this tough, but great city. Here's hoping this video will attract a higher caliber of resident.
