    The Explorer is such an icon! Absolutely beautiful. I'm just glad people with bigger wrists can also enjoy the Explorer. Also glad that this upscale follows the perfection proportions of the 36mm unlike the 39mm.

    It's nice to have both the 36 and 40mm options. The new 40 nailed the proportions in a way the 39 didn't (At least for me). I enjoy my 36 but I might say that if both were available I would have a hard time choosing between the two. Thanks for the great content!

    The 40mm is very high on my list. Can't wait to see the comparison between it and the 39. One interesting feature of this and newly redesigned models - the lug to lugs seem slightly shorter while bracelet widths have increased. This is also while the endlink on the bracelet has grown. A bold choice.

    You've just tempted me to go back and re-try this one on. I did a few weeks ago and it didn't really do it for me, but neither did the 36mm (which is the one I have been on the wait list for and just recently declined - just too small with the 19mm bracelet, and I have nothing against and do wear other small watches). My one complaint with the new 40mm version was I felt in person anyway, that the smooth bezel was too wide (much like how I feel about the DJ41) and just looked a bit garish. I guess I need to go back and have an open mind, because otherwise, there is a lot to really like about this one. My wrist size is about the same at 6.5" but my "wingspan" is about 5mm shorter if I've measured correctly, which maybe I didn't.

    Excellent review, Hafiz. I recently took delivery of the 36mm variant and found to be slightly small on my 7.5" wrist. Moreover, I am on the taller side at 6-4. My only experience with Rolex was a 116600 sea dweller that was 40mm that I sold because I doubled my money. I am thinking to exchange out my 36mm 124270 for a the 40mm 224270. Do you know the measurement for the lower lug width at the clasp on the 40mm? For example, the 36mm tapers from 19mm at the top of the bracelet to 14mm at the clasp. I was wondering the taper of the 40mm from 21mm to ?. Thanks for your feedback and excellent YT content. J

    Just got mine 2 weeks ago from my AD in NYC. I feel like its the perfect proportionate size on my wrist. Great review. On a side note I also picked up the Breitling Navitimer 43 and also feel like it fits perfectly. Proportions are very important on how the watch fits not the mm size of dial. The lugs turn downward plus the pivoted end links that pull straight down. The 22mm lug width makes the dial look smaller than it is. Love both watches.

      about 17.5 cm. yeah sold the 36 shortly after getting the 40 and have been wearing the 40 more or less daily since getting it. It wears very different to the 36 and it took some time to get used to due to making the switch directly from the 36, but after a two weeks or so it felt way more natural with the 40. it's difficult to explain, but when wearing the 40 you feel like you are wearing a watch, while the 36 just kinda disappeared on the arm. Would say that both are great viable choice, but for me the 40 feels better and as it is a completely new watch under my name from the AD it felt more right to keep it in the long run as well. @@nonammmmme

      A good decision. The 36mm is dainty and aimed at women. The EX1 series is positioned by Rolex as a "his n hers" model, where the diminutive 36mm (actually 35.5mm) is for her, the more masculine proportions of the 40mm (actually 39mm) is for him.

    I like it but the bracelet looks big for the case. Wish it was 20mm lug width. The watch looks big more like a 41mm. Much bigger than the 39mm

      The proportions are definitely off. 39 is such a better looking watch.

      I have a 6.5" flat wrist and the 40mm looks small, especially doing the mirror test.
      Any close up photo or video is going to distort the size and watches always look bigger than in reality. The 40mm is actually smaller proportionally than the older 39mm.

    the dimensions are excellent on this watch. i hope rolex decides to make a 40mm oyster perpetual, because not all of us want to see giant numbers on the dial like the explorer has. i know rolex makes a 41mm oyster, but it would be great in 40mm.

      The 41mm op is actually only 39.5mm across, not 41mm

      @@Valera_Scotland True, and the explorer 40 is 38.6. I don't know why Rolex doesn't disclose the correct dimensions. If they did, some of the size queens in the comments saying the explorer 40 should be 38 mm wouldn't have anything to complain about hah.

      @JacobLawrenceCanning very good point!!! I'm loving smaller watches these days. Take a look at my short of my omega. It's 36.5mm. Stunning

    Waiting for the snide comment about the 36mm being too small, lol. Guys, watch sizes don't make a man out of you, for wristwatches were made for ladies, but we still wear them to this day.

      True, but there are sizes that look better on a man versus a boy. The great Muhammad Ali would look absurd today wearing that tiny Cartier Tank. I’m sure if he were given the choice of a larger watch he would have taken it.

    The size at 38+ is great….buts its the large 32mm crystal that makes it look big. 42mm Explorer has a 32mm crystal. Submariner is 30mm

      @Explorer40mm 5 месяцев назад +3

      Doesn’t feel nearly as large as the OP41 dial. Also, black dials feel smaller so I wouldn’t worry about it. If anything, it makes the watch that much more legible

    You need to try this on your own wrist, it’s all subjective, as the 40 looks way too big on me and protrudes higher on the wrist than the 39.

    The 40 still feels dainty to me… I think the 40 is too small, especially the dial. It should really be 41mm, or even 42.

    I think the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is more "authentic" when it comes to the preservation of original design and look. The 1953 Explorer actually looks more like the Tudor, not the current version of its own.

    In my opinion 40mm is to big for this kind of watch, 38 would be perfect

    • @liquid_metal
      @liquid_metal 7 дней назад

      It measures 38-39mm using calipers.
      Thus, the watch is perfect in your own words.
