For everyone interested: I got one and ive had it for about a year now. I‘m about 6ft1“ at 195ish lbs. The bike is absolutely amazing *in general*. Definitely not as simple to ride as your typical beginner bike. It doesnt feel anything like an R3, or even an RC390, it feels even more aggressive than that. The stance is quite flat so if you have weak forearms this bike might be hard to ride for you. In terms of performance its a blast. Power is available on tap and quite plenty for this little mad lad. However the front brake is just f*cking dangerous, not as in weak so that it doesnt stop well enough, but the OPPOSITE. Overestimate your input and the bike sends you flying over the front wheel, it’s devastating ffs, so just be careful with that lever, take it from me. The bike does have ABS but the front brake doesnt seem to care about that at all. Fuel economy is alright, Gearbox and everything feels crisp, quite tight and responsive, getting a lot of lean it is a little difficult tho because of how high up youre seating position is. In terms of reliability: Typical KTM. I have 2000km on the odo and i already had to send it in twice. The first time was even before the run-in period, fuel pump was cucked and there was a vacuum in the tank. Second time was the battery, fuel pump malfunctioning again sucking the battery dry without actually doing anything. Now it runs fine, only thing that happens very veeeery rarely is when you drop down into first while rolling the bike would just cut off. Jumps right on again tho. So my recommendation is: If youre under 6ft tall, get the Svartpilen, much easier to ride. Whichever you get: upgrade the fuel pump ASAP. (cheap ass china sh*t from the factory as always) Change the Mickey Mouse-ear Mirrors, theyre useless and vibrate to hell. Chabge the exhaust, no mather which one, just get an aftermarket pipe. Thought someone might be a little curious about a little history around the company: Husqvarna is a Swedish company founded back in 1689. The ones they are best known for are their sewing machines, chainsaws, but also other mostly different types of garden machinery and arms . In the beginning of 1900, they began to manufacture motorcycles. Their probably most famous model is the Silverpilen (silver arrow) which they produced in the 50s and 60s. Later, they began to concentrate only on motocross and endurance motorcycles, a large customer of these was the Swedish Defense Forces. In 2013, the motorcycle part of Husqvarna was bought by KTM.
Husqvarna is an name (but it is spelled a little differently) of a town/village in Sweden where the company was founded and still has parts of its production, there is also a museum there about the company . There are many models of Husqvarna Motorcycles with the word Pil in, it means arrow in English. Vit means white and Svart means black. So the names are translated: White Arrow and Black Arrow

@@jamiebizness1 I’m really sorry to hear that my comment seems to offend you. My intention was not to mock anyone over his pronounciation of a word which is not in his native language ( which also applies to me in this case, as I am not Swedish). If my guess is correct, you just watched this video and found my comment correcting Chase. However, you have to know that my correction was made regarding the original thumbnail and title of the video, which since had been changed. You can still see the original spelling of “Vitpilan” at 0:57 and in the description of the video, while everything else (thumbnail/title) since had been changed to “Vitpilen” by Chase. I understand you wish to defend the case that pronounciation of foreign words might not always be correct by non-natives, but the way you had written your comment pre supposes the idea that my and qKn’s only intention was shaming Chase, which is not what happened. You can also see this in Chase’s kind reply, acknowledging his spelling error and going out of his way to correct his mistake. I hope this clears some things up and that in the future, you first try to understand people’s intentions behind their correcting comments, rather than supposing the worst.
I finally got the courage to buy this bike (Svartpilen 401, not Vitpilen) and they were sold out everywhere where I live, that sucked a lot. I used to think a Ducati Scrambler was the perfect bike for me, but this tops it, seems like my perfect bike.
Buy me a RC390 if I’m wrong, but I think the KTM “Transport Lock” is an anti-theft measure set from the factory. If the bike goes more than 100 miles while the lock is active, it won’t start. It has nothing to do with performance. The dealer should deactivate the lock before it’s sold.
Is this bike abs? If it does, can the ads be completely disabled? Abs don't really work for me when it comes to riding at hilly areas and a little bit of off-road. (I'm no track rider but, We already got an engine brake)
Smaller bikes are a lot more fun to ride. North America seems to have fallen for the bigger is better mentality. Get off your Harley's and try something nimble for a while. You will go from riding a truck like bike to a small sporty car like bike. Lots of fun!
Got the svartpilen, such a fun bike and plenty of power but my god is it scary in high cross winds on the highway 😅 ended up having to drive 20mph in the hardshoulder (UK motorways) because it was so scary
i am watching all videos that i can find about Vitpilen. I am just wondering. Since the new model has diff frame and engine (I guess), do you guys think that parts availability will soon be scarce or limited?
It's cheap because it's the only version that does not have fully adjustable suspension. Check it out. The 401 Smartpilan has fully adjustable. Both versions of the 701 do as well. I will say I love that no matter if it's a 401 or 701, the bikes are sub 350lbs! The 401 has more hp and torque than my 1986 Yamaha SRX600. THAT'S technology. Although my SRX is air cooled, kick start only, and only weighs 289lbs. My problem is it's looks - namely the seat. It looks like someone chopped off the rear end. Granted the frame is why but manufacturers need to stop jacking the passenger up a rung on the ladder behind the rider. A nice, straight, LONGER seat would be so much more esthetically pleasing. But no one wants dual rear shocks anymore except cruisers. Oh well. Love my 1986 Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo... Aka the comfy couch rocket. Personally, I'd fork out more money for the 701... 75hp from a single??? That's more than the twin 650 class is putting out! Can't believe you didn't mention what a wheelie monster this bike is!!!
KTM also owns GasGas. Additionally, Triumph now manufacturers motorcycles in the same factory as KTM (Bajaj) so you may notice many similarities between them in the near future
I want to get the Svartpilen. They are just so hard to find around me. I love the idea of the Duke 390, but with mild off road ability. I live in a small city, that has a lot of country dirt roads I could just rip up and down on. Love the video Chase & glad to see some new stuff coming out!
Whenever I'm away from my bike. I see this video😍❤️ What a production quality. Hey chase, I am just like you who prefers looks over performance. But Husky is well balanced between looks& performance. Love to see Vitpilen 701 on Screen ❤️
Hey Chase what do you think of the honda cbr250rr and do you think honda should sell it in America? Personally I think it looks a lot better than the cbr300r.
Hey guys, I'm very new to motorbikes. Is this a good bike to buy considering I'll be on highways a lot? I looked at the Honda CB300R as well but people were saying it's not great for highways but not sure. Thanks
I got one recently from having a big cruiser and I’ll agree with you on turns, it’s so weird I think it’s just the weight that makes it feel sketch, it’s capable of some good turns but for some reason at high speeds it feels like it’s gonna fly out from underneath you lol

That styling 🤌🏻
I finally got the courage to buy this bike (Svartpilen 401, not Vitpilen) and they were sold out everywhere where I live, that sucked a lot. I used to think a Ducati Scrambler was the perfect bike for me, but this tops it, seems like my perfect bike.
I sold mine after 5 months cool bike for sure
Why
Buy me a RC390 if I’m wrong, but I think the KTM “Transport Lock” is an anti-theft measure set from the factory. If the bike goes more than 100 miles while the lock is active, it won’t start. It has nothing to do with performance. The dealer should deactivate the lock before it’s sold.
Rpm is limited electronically for first 1000km though.
Just a matching cafe fairing would be so sweet completing the look. Just a bit of a tuck in wind break!
Vitpilen bro!
I would love to a 701 video. I love the look of that bike going down the road.
Wow man I commented on you ktm video asking you to do a first ride on the vitpilen 401 and you did thank you chase ❤
Great video, only now do I realise the effort of making these videos after starting to do my own channel. Well done. Enjoy, stay safe!
Dude. Bybre is short for BY BREMBO ! Its used in more economical markets like India, Malaysia, Singapore. Also for cost cutting 🤘
Is this bike abs? If it does, can the ads be completely disabled? Abs don't really work for me when it comes to riding at hilly areas and a little bit of off-road.
(I'm no track rider but, We already got an engine brake)
picking up my 2020 vitpilen 401 in 2 months as my first bike, so excited!
Did you get it?! 👍🏼
16:40 it's not because of wind, it's because mr chase got few extra pounds on belly XD
great video, proud owner of vitpilen here :D
So would tank grips be a good choice in the situation
Is it reliable? Also I’m 6’3 would I look like a clown on one?
Would you recommend this bike for somebody that 6 foot 3?
I'm 6 2 and fit snuggly.
The tuning is a little different on these compared to the KTM 390s, the throttle is way more responsive and sensitive.
The brand you were looking for was Ferrari, my man...GM made the C8 look like a Ferrari.
i literally just bought this same bike last weekend!!
Literally?
i cant wait for adventure vlogs to return, IF YUMMY AND CHASE ARE DOWN, we cant force them
Ty for the killer roller shots
i am watching all videos that i can find about Vitpilen. I am just wondering. Since the new model has diff frame and engine (I guess), do you guys think that parts availability will soon be scarce or limited?
would you recommend this over the Ducati Sixty2?
I was sooo waiting to see this video that i shouted "YES" right after seeing the thumbnail 😅😂😂
Bhai India me price kitni hone wali h ?
@@minhazansari5786 bhai phle india me launch toh ho jaye
Koi bhi official news nahi hai
Aagye toh replyvdena zaroor yaha
@21:33 that could have been bad...
I literally didn't know Husqvarna made this and now I see they have a 693cc version too. Damn.
Ftom the camera car, the tyres looked a little low pressure which may have contributed to the sluggish turn in feeling
Tires were set to factory specs. I did them myself.:)
KTM also owns GasGas. Additionally, Triumph now manufacturers motorcycles in the same factory as KTM (Bajaj) so you may notice many similarities between them in the near future
Would this be too much for an absolute beginner who is 6 foot 175 pounds, or would my size and weight make it a good fit?
How tall are you @chaseontwowheels ?
Always love to watch your videos. Nice edits and because of information you provide i feel like im riding with you. Keep it up bro good luck
I want to get the Svartpilen. They are just so hard to find around me. I love the idea of the Duke 390, but with mild off road ability. I live in a small city, that has a lot of country dirt roads I could just rip up and down on. Love the video Chase & glad to see some new stuff coming out!
Ktm 390 adv
Only one dealership in my city and they only ordered 5 svarts. :/
If ergonomics is a problem, you can swap the handlebars between the two bikes.
Whenever I'm away from my bike. I see this video😍❤️ What a production quality. Hey chase, I am just like you who prefers looks over performance. But Husky is well balanced between looks& performance. Love to see Vitpilen 701 on Screen ❤️
How are vibrations on the highway at a steady 70-75 MPH?
Hey Chase what do you think of the honda cbr250rr and do you think honda should sell it in America? Personally I think it looks a lot better than the cbr300r.
09:49 love the part where you have shots from 3rd perspective
Rolling shots is what they're called, super cool looking
@@TragicAyk thanks for the info
Are these bikes appropriate for people who mainly travel by highways?
Hey guys, I'm very new to motorbikes. Is this a good bike to buy considering I'll be on highways a lot? I looked at the Honda CB300R as well but people were saying it's not great for highways but not sure. Thanks
beautifully filmed
I like your helmet. 😍
It has a quickshifter?
bro at 21:33 the way he just breezes past near death with a "holy shiit dude"
Hey man does this 2020 model come with the quick shift feature?
Great review man, loved your normal stoked way of chatting throughout the video. Probably picking up a Vit and a Svart this weekend for the wife & I.
Can someone please tell me what helmet that is? LOVE IT!!
The same 400CC engine is used in Ktm and Bajaj Dominar
This or a ninja 650 for the first bike??
Do you use Wide or the super wide settings? For GoPro
My daily dose of chase
How are you getting the 3rd person shots on the highway and stuff?
I'm have been considering getting this bike for the last year.
Hard Seat - put if you butt is tough - these are real weapons in the tight and narrow.
OC
I"ve riden some Husqy enduro/cross country bikes (Like FE350, FX450), but not any of their road bikes. That thign looks cool as hell though.
Nice review. Fyi the rear seat handle is actually a stock piece - the bike looks much better without it than with fyi.
I got one recently from having a big cruiser and I’ll agree with you on turns, it’s so weird I think it’s just the weight that makes it feel sketch, it’s capable of some good turns but for some reason at high speeds it feels like it’s gonna fly out from underneath you lol

Svartpilen = Swedish for "Black Arrow."
Neat, pokey single Austrians in nice Swedish clothing. Glad you enjoyed it.

Such a good looking bike! Great review, man.
