Thank you Dr. Tobias! I so glad that you addressed this issue. I've had this problem for 4 years now. I can't wait to incorporate the exercise into my routine. They make so much sense. Have a great week.
Thank you so much Dr Tara Tobias, I'm having the same problem with my left leg due to ischemic brain stroke which I had 16 months ago. Having issues of ankle dorsiflexion, knee hyper extension, clonus and peripheral neuropathy. Your videos are so specific and very helpful. I'm following you since last year. Thanks again for providing informative exercises and kindly keep motivating me
Hi Michelle! I am so happy! You are part of the reason why I love doing this. No better feeling than to know someone is finding these videos useful. Oh, and btw, great to see you this week! Have a great week!
Heĺlo Dr Tara thank you for these explenations. I have this problem from a long time and i will use these training to help me in walking many thanks to you
This is my main problem I watch your videos 2.5 years 1 big stroke 2 small. I probably could walk but my knee won't bend, I can't drive or work, best topic ever thank you Tara
Thank you Dr. Tobias. For these exercises. My issue is that I tore my meniscus and damaged my ACL. I have had issues with fully extending my right leg, so it has caused problems for my gait when walking, putting extra pressure on both my lower back and hips. I have found that when I become too sore. I am dragging my leg behind me. People tend to ask me if I suffered a stroke. No, that isn't the issue. What can you recommend for stimulation of the calve muscle. I find when I walk a lot it tends to start spasming. I put all of my focus in walking because I have almost fell a couple of times. It is really quite embarrassing.
Thank you for this video. This is exactly what I need right now. Spasticity and knee hyperextension are great learning tools in patience and kindness. ;-)
Quality info as always, DR. Tobias. Q: what if there is no activity in the knee flexors? Even if not against gravity, knee wont bend. Any tips on that one? Thanks
From your experience, do you expect noticeable progress with balance and gait from patients who had strokes years ago? I understand that majority of motor function and coordination rehab tends to happen several months post-CVA but what about after that? Of course it's variable but I'm wondering if in general you've seen patients improve long afterwards. I recently began working with patients who had strokes years ago and I'm a bit unsure what their potential is. They seem very set in their current gait patterns via negative neuroplasticity (I think that's what you called it) and I'm currently working on their quality movement and increasing their reliance on their affected side. Thanks in advance.
I'm thinking because of the heterotrophic ossification in my left knee.i I will probably need a knee replacement somewhere down the line.along with movement returning to my left arm (stroke 3yrs.ago).
Thank you great advice. When in my wheelchair I have to keep my left leg (stroke side) slightly extended because I can’t bend it at the correct angle I am only able to be in my wheelchair for about an hour due to excruciating pain in my left buttock that runs into the back of the knee. How can I reduce the pain so I can stay in my wheelchair longer

Great exercises for early stages of recovery. These won't help me much. But thanks for doing this for others.
