    Loved being immersed in the green of that trail with you.....and seeing the beautiful toll bridge. The amount of rain we had while you were away was shocking! Oooh, bursting brassicas and beetroots, yay. Oh so sad and a shock to see so many plots under water......I hope, at least, that folk had done most of their harvesting by now. And, oh, those poor boat owners. 😢 Ooops, pepper surprise it is then. 😉 Mmmm...gotta lovely a sorted seed box. Yay for letting go of the committee work.....I'm sure you'll be missed in the role....but better for you and getting on with your gardening undisturbed (here's hoping!). Gosh, is it garlic time already??!! Happy growing. 😊

      I so enjoyed being chair and on the committee (mostly...), though now time to have 'me time'. 😊 The flooding was bad, worst in living memory, and some have said it needs addressing... though how do you address a raging river with so little Dosh? 😬 Yay for garlic time... it may go in this week, or next... 🤞😊🤞

    I'm glad no one lost their shed in the flooding. I would have called the mixed pepper seed, a suprise pepper mix 😊. I'm still working on fall garden cleanup. This year I am adding mulch layered under more soil to some of the raised beds and I hope to try a method of overwintering potatoes for growing. You dig a trench and have mulch on top and bottom of the potatoes and soil on top of that... the mulch is supposed to keep it warm enough as it breaks down that the potatoes don't freeze.

      I am INTRIGUED by the over-wintering potatoes!! 🤔 Let us know how you get on. 👍😊👍

    Mixing up the pepper seeds is okay. Don't feel so bad. Once they grow and produce fruit, you'll easily be able to identify which is which. Then start saving seeds and don't let them mix up again. The varieties you've got are all so different from one another.
    I mix up the tomato starts all the time. The only plants I know for sure what they are the Pink Brandywines because they have potato leaves.
    One heck of a floody rain you had there but some plants look like they love all the rain. Too bad there's no desire to create an overflow pond further up to prevent all of this flooding. We've got one near here to mitigate some flood damage. It has helped to reduce or even stop erosion damage. We've had the wettest July and August on record. The weeds love it best of all.

      The flooding was (we believe) down to gates not being opened further up the river where there are acres of over flooding areas, the issue is gates need to be opened for it to happen... and when they're not... 🙄

      Skanky frog jumped out of the pond today, looked at me, then jumped back in the pond and sat on his brick. 👍 I got my camera quickly and got back to he pond, and he/she looked at me and said "No you don't!" and dived under the brick... and stayed there!! 😅🤣😅

    Well I don't envy you the flooding, but I still wish we could get some decent rain here. I mean we've only had 20mm in September. We've been watering 2 or 3 times a week since last Christmas. It's been cold this winter but so dry.

    • @paulsavident
      @paulsavident День назад +1

      I feel for you... 😬 I said to Richard today that I think we will have a colder, drier winter this year... so maybe a 'normal' winter compared to the mild, wet winter of '23/'24. 🤞😊🤞

    How could you forget 💠forget-me-nots 💠 Paul 😂
    The flooding must've been devastating for the plotters, I can't imagine facing the ghastly things that might be in that water. My allotments are also on the banks of a river, The Tyne.
    I'm looking forward to the surprise pepper growing it'll be fun. What is precosum garlic? I've heard you talk about it before but I don't know what it means.

    • @paulsavident
      @paulsavident День назад

      My brain really does leave me sometimes... 😁 Precosum garlic is just a variety of garlic, not a specific type. 👍👍👍
