I just wanted to say that your channel brings me a lot of joy and comfort. I love drawing , and your videos have such a zen mindset about it that it helps in reminding me to not be so hard on myself when doing it! (Also about how it can better my mental health!) Thank you, please keep up these lovely videos!
I love your 'Dad Joke' email titles - don't ever change! 😂 I'm drawing while I listen to this! Well, I'm actually refining some sketches I did outdoors. I don't do en plein anywhere near as much as I should and I've really enjoyed it. 😊 I'm currently using a tiny square sketchbook (4" x 4") and I find it perfect when the idea of being creative overwhelms me, even though I want to. 😊
Danny, you are a great incentive to draw. My new way to draw is the scrapbook/ sketchbook. You buy a sketchbook and stick pictures that inspirer you on the left hand side of the book, then on the right hand side you draw or paint. Also add words of wisdom to motivate yourself.
Danny ❤ I love your channel so much. Both as a creative person and a small business owner, your content resonates so much with me. I joined Draw with me twice and really enjoyed it. I have to set a reminder so I do it every week. Thank you for talking openly about the fears that so many of us experience when starting our artist journey. Your videos inspire me and give me courage, in Art and in life. 😊 thank you
You are a gem. I’m am truly grateful to have found you here through your Thursday Come Draw With Me. The experience of using different materials and drawing things would never attempted or even thought of drawing is so much fun. Your personality and humour shine in your essays and on the screen. Many blessings to you and JJ. Thank you.
@@brigetteself1827 they were both sick according to Danny’s Essay that he sent out early Friday. So there wasn’t a Come Draw with Me live video. Let’s hope they both recover quickly and are back next week. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are giving me a completely different view of drawing and crafts, generally. I hate schedules but heck, you are right. Maybe I need a bit more organization in my days? I wish someone had said some of this to me when i was 30!! No, how about 12? I wouldn't try something and then give up because I don't think I have the talent/gift.
Someone once gave me great advice for the all or nothing mindset, 'Everything in moderation, including moderation.' Love to hear an essay read by the author, you've quite talent in writing!
What an inspiring essay!!! I really enjoyed listening to it while I make some doodles in my sketchbook... Sometimes I do not have the time to read, but, being able to learn from others through audio is just fantastic. What a great channel you have!
Love your podcast. Thank you for such enlightening tidbits of information and helping one accept ourselves when we falter and stray away from artmaking 😊
The drawing habit is bested piggy backed on to another habit, so I go walking to new places and draw a map and notes. I go birdwatching I draw a map. Both types of maps have little illustrations.
Speaking of HABITS: My aunt, sister Mary Elaine, was showing her colleagues her new wardrobe that seemed to spontaneously and regularly appear, without effort or expense. When questioned about it, Sister matter-of-factly replied: Haven't you heard? When you _do something_ for 21 days, it becomes a *habit!* Note: In Jimmy Carter's case, it becomes a *habitat*
I was quite "lazy" with my sketchbook... It seems to be a giant task to fill it up. As a content creator, I got this mentality of I must record every time I draw or paint or sketch. I should settle down with just draw or paint or sketch without any recording. Just do it as a habit. The more I don't do art, the lazy I become. Later I have to be doing art again. Do it for passion for art, not rather just for RUclips.
You don’t necessarily have to record all of your paintings and drawings. You can always take a break from recording your art. If you are ready, go back to it.
Drawing a subject you like, a present learning about new species of dinosaurs, so each day draw a dinosaur. Living near a natural history museum helps too.
Black and white and a nun's habit? I went to a Catholic college, and Sister Mary Thomas the math professor, with her 4 chins and the wooden yardstick that she brandished at all times, stomping around the lecture hall, is still a recurring nightmare 40 years later!

You've got a lovely voice, my friend. Listening to your words and your voice is a joy.
Thank you!
You're a real jewel, Danny boy... thank you for the peace, sanity & drawing you bring me. ❤ 🎉 ❤

Immediately finished a sketch of something that was out of my comfort zone

You really got me drawing and painting again. Thanks so much!
I'm so glad!
Thank you for reading these out to us. So often I can only get myself to actually try while drawing when I have one of these videos in the background
Thank you, I needed to hear this today. Love your podcast and videos.
Yaaaay 😄 I love these essays👏🏾
You're a gem, Danny. Thanks for the encouragement.
My pleasure!
Love this. I will continue implementing these ideas!

Black and white habits. . . Bad joke? That was a great joke! 😂
❤❤❤❤
More fun to hear your essay than read it in an email.
I say draw for like an hour

I can imagine! She’s sounds like a terror.
This essay sounded like poetry. Where would I join for your emails?

I’m sure I heard you say “collection of mug shots”?
