I think it's really common for beginners to take out their crochet frustrations on the pattern/the RUclipsr and you really don't deserve those comments because this is such an easy and well made video :) I am past being a beginner by far but it was still very simple to follow!!!
Just wanted to add I just finished all the pieces after about a week of working on them everyday & waiting on more yarn, it's definitely worth the work! :)

Just finished this project. I worked on it on and off but i think it took me about 25 hours to work on it. But totally worth it, it turns out so pretty and i was so shocked when i tried it on and it just didnt slip. Thank you for the tutorial ❤ love it
@@user-sh5mg2kr3kI ended up doing 27 rows across the front because it wasn't wide enough for my body! So the panel itself was about 12 inches long and 15 1/2 inches wide for my measurements

Just started learning how to crochet, luckily I have a mom that can crochet as well so she can help me too. Definitely going to be making this (trying to make it)
Thank you so much! This is beautiful and I’ll be making it next (once I’ve finished my current project 😁). Your explanations seem very clear and easy to follow, so I hope you’ll keep making more ❤️
This top is stunning! I was wondering how the off the shoulder part holds up for daily wear? I wanna make it but I'm worried about it falling down/off if I wear it out 😭
I've found that it holds up quite well! I've worn it out several times and had no issues (well, except when the weather got warmer so it was just too hot to wear, I'm so ready for fall weather!) If you are worried about it/ experiencing it slipping, I would recommend sewing in an elastic thread/ band around the off shoulder portion, I think that would help tremendously :)
Tysm ! Hmm I would suggest creating a chain probably closer to 30 - 35, but the best way to tell would be to measure the chain against your body and increase/ decrease whether you want that off shoulder panel to be longer/ shorter. Hope that helps !
Finished crocheting all the panels and I can't wait to finish this beautiful project! Thank you so much for you explanations!! But I'd just like to know more about the assembly part, like how do you sew the sleeves to the others parts? Do you leave a gap or do you sew the entire side? Thank you again for this amazing tutorial!!
For the sleeves, you'll lay it out like she did in the video with the sleeve width centered between the front and back panels. You'll seam straight across that, making sure that the sleeve is connected evenly between the front side and the back side with no gap between it and the front/back panels. Then, you attach your yarn at the end of the sleeve and seam up to the armpit, then down to the bottom of the sweater with no gaps. This forms the sleeve hole. I hope this helped, let me know how I can better explain anything if you need!
hi thank you sm for the tutorial !! im sorry if this question seems a bit silly, but is this like one size fits all or should we measure ourselves and then crochet accordingly?
Definitely according to your body, this stitch isn’t stretchy, so you should make it wider, more narrow, shorter or longer depending on how your body is. If you were to knit it, you could maybe get away with it if you did ribbed stitches.
I’ve been having trouble with the stitch in the third loop. What am I doing wrong if I turn to start my next row and there is no third loop? It’s driving me nuts
hi! I was just wondering, when you wear this sweater for the whole does the shoulder part slip off? I’ve never worn this kind of sweater before so I’m curious lol
Thanks so much! I'm starting this project soon. I'm not so sure how to attach the off shoulder part though, did you sew it onto the top of the regular assembled top? Great video, really wonderful!!♡
i have a question, shouldn't the fromt and back panel have the same number of rows?? because im doing exacrly how you did but the front has 36 rows and the back 30
For each HDC are you working into the 3rd, 3rd loop from your hook the entire time? Idk if that makes sense. Also for the decrease how many loops from your hook are you working into?
Correct ! The first 2 chains are considered turning chains so you wouldn't work into them. For the decrease I start by working into the third third loop from the hook and then the fourth third loop from the hook (so I hdc the third and fourth third loops together) I hope that makes sense !
hi!! quick question: i used a thinner yarn than you did so i had to alter the stitch count on all the panels, but i’m not sure how to do that with the front panel. would i just add stitches at the side?
Loved the tutorial. One suggestion, please use a lighter colored yarn it makes it easier for these old eyes to see the stitches. 😊 I look forward to more of ur totorials.
Question 🙋🏻♀️ what if i do the standard ribbing effect (i.e. hdc in the back loop instead of the third) will that make any major difference? thank you so much for the video btw
i’m working on this sweater right now myself!! i think it would alter the stretchiness of the fabric, but if you don’t wanna make the sweater tight-fitting i don’t think it would be a huge problem!
hey! i was wondering how you attached the off the shoulder part to the rest of the top later? in the video you turn it around so i assume that means you have it on as like a separate piece, but in the comments i noticed that you say to seam it? im just finishimg the off shoulder part now and i wanna know how long to make it (i prefer the top wo the ribbon but i like the idea of being able to move the ribbon part to the front or back depending on where i want it to be, but idk if itll slip off my shoulders? but then idk if seaming it on the front part will work cause youll be working perpendicular to the chains)
ok i made it like 1 week after posting this comment and my tips are: make the off the shoulder part slightly smaller so it doesnt move. mine doesnt slip off but it does slide up. you can always just frog it though and adjust which is prob best main one: for the front and back panels idk if she didnt make it clear or if im just stupid but you essentially measure from collarbone to collarbone for the number of rows NOT the under armpit area like i did. i did like 46 rows when in the video she said 30 and id been consistently sizing down l, which was genuinely stupid on my part, but i sewed it all together, realized it was too big then had to undo the seams, frog like 15 rows and reseam it 😔 and its still slightly too big bc i used cotton acrylic blend and it stretches quite a bit. also generally its not that warm bc of the holes in the half double crochet but is fine with something under it, i wear a cotton black strappy top and its not visible. other than that gorgeous pattern, ive gotten so many compliments while wearing my top im thinking of making a second beige/cream wool one. the front half double thing adds sooo much texture it really feels amazing. anyway! hope this helped someone
@@beee8720 im glad! i used alize cotton gold plus yarn which i think is 6 ply (not sure i kinda threw away the wrapper amd i think theyve discontinued the yarn) w a 5mm hook! also just adding to my other comments i hand washed it and it became even bigger and doesnt fit very well rn so im probably gonna have to remove the seams frog and reseam AGAIN 😭 i recommend making the front and back panels smaller than you think you need, idk if i just didnt listen to the measurements right but yeah 😭

It's at the beginning of the video but she used 4 skeins of yarn
is it possible to also use weight 6 yarn?
Sure ! The yarn I used was a bulky weight ~5 I think, so 6 should be totally fine, your # of chains/ rows just might be a little different. Make sure to try on as you crochet to ensure a good fit :)
@yaejiyea oh I see, thank you so much!
