I told my perspective of these opinions and It’s quite normal to think this way, sometimes some stuff are really confusing. I have a comment somewhere If you would like to read, and no worries it’s just telling your opinion.
From Y to Y gave me good practise early on to learn that they exist and to look out for them. It was one of the first songs I've played that had them (Yes, many other songs existed before that but I wasn't good enough back then to play most of them, so when Y to Y was released, Lv 26 was the highest I could do)
I also hate flicks with a burning passion, but something I hate more is just really long songs. (the longer it lasts the more I'm prone to mess up) Edit: Woah this really popped off... Anyways thx for the replies. I like a challenge, so I did a few of the ones you guys discussed, and geez some of them are hard on expert mode.

The fat notes right next to the small ones thing has been given a name in the Japanese community and it’s called “ninshikinan” or “difficult to perceive/process” because they mess with your brain so much and I hate them with a passion too
My personal most hated note is two small purple notes stuck together with no space between. Sometimes I can't see the line in the middle and I miss the two-finger tap.
I hate thin slide notes with a burning passion and slide notes with sharp turns even MORE. I will literally get all perfects on the note spams and then get 10 misses from nothing but slide notes. I’m truly suffering from success
my personal additions: - when two notes are right next to each other to look like a single note - hold notes that slide across the entire screen - lots of tiny notes all at once - super fast trills

Double notes that disguise themselves as fat notes by being directly beside each other are the only type of notes that actively piss me off. Especially if they’re alternating between mini notes. Like there’s other patterns that trip me up but they come down to skill issue so I don’t get mad at them. These double notes on the other hand are asking “hey can you see this tiny line between these double notes that are barely different from the notes’ fill color so you know to double tap, and then also tap mini notes between all of these, thx” and I think that may be a tad bullshit. Though I’m fine with it if they use a gold note and normal note to give visual indication that it’s a double, but then that becomes a problem for those who with colorblindness who may not be able to differentiate the colors that well.
For flicks it helps to go under the note. It’s just a guess but I think because the arrow moves so our eyes and fingers move to it and flick that instead of the actual note. Hope this helps anyone :)
This is a very unpopular opinion, but holds are worse than flicks. Most of the time what ruins an FC attempt is a hold. The ones that are shaped like ε are extra annoying, and every single hold in Bug is annoying. Flicks don't usually break me as often anymore unless it's an AP attempt, but anything can ruin an AP attempt.
Tbh I love flicks sometimes because it really breaks up the song and makes it more fun for me. BUT I REALLY HATE LONG SKINNY AND CURVY NOTES. Seriously no matter what I do somehow it’ll register my finger off the note when I’m CLEARLY on it.
as a beginner (only been playing for one month) i always get confused when my thumbs have to do different things at the same time (hold in left, flick in right, etc) bc i get so used to doing the same thing at the same time so i tend to mess up there haha
The funny shaped notes are nice and fun UNTIL the damn fish in airhead master. I swear I can almost never get it right and I don't even know what I'm doing wrong...

As a thumb player I have no issue besides the normal notes with flat notes next to them- thank you for finally putting them into wordssss- especially stack ones with multiple sets
The judgment on those holds in that song is not on the entire curve. If you tap and hold where the starting note of the hold is and don't move your finger to follow it, you can cheese them. This is because hold notes follow the BPM of the song. So as long as you hit the note (or in this case, hold) on-beat, you'll be fine.
i hate the fucking. Notes where like you have to spam them but they're all in a straight row (kinda like in machine gun poem doll expert) because for some reason my brain just Cannot Handle that and the spam tapping always goes off rhythm
One of the most intresting things imo is how the lenght of the note makes things harder too Like when facing multiple entire chart width blue notes you find it much harder to press than the same notes but smaller Idk if itsjust me

Tips for hard hold notes (skinny holds / overly curvy holds) : You can press multiple fingers where the hold will go, basically cheesing it. Example : With a skinny hold, hold 2 fingers on the 2 lines the hold follows.
I think the only reason as why I'm still unable to finish or do difficulty above hard bc notes such as short/small and long notes being next to each other the whole time. And flick notes--even in lower difficulty it's still hard to not mess up
I used to be really thrown off if there was a pair of notes and one of them was a flick note and the other was normal... Until I found out that I can just flick them both and it still counts.
