  • We got an opportunity to work with Melora Creager's Rasputina when they made their way through North Carolina for a show at the Cat's Cradle. With impressive cello work and a juxtaposition of modern sound and classical garb, the former fringe Nirvana member has showcased her incredible ability to adapt over a lengthy career in music.

The fact that only fifty thousand people have enjoyed this beautiful recording is a teavesty

That you and I watch it a month apart is a blessing. Pleased to make your acquaintance!
Also, teavesty is my new favourite word

I can't explain exactly why this song is so inspiring, but it is.

    Melora as beautiful as ever.
Her playing in a band that expresses the infinite emotional range that is the cello yet being under-appreciated for so long at times makes me weep. I've been loving her and her music for so many years now that I am astounded how she has not been properly recognized. If you are a history geek, as I am, or if you know one....do yourself a favor and pay attention or at the very least make others aware of the true talent that lies not only within the music but the writing.
Rasputina, throughout the years, has seemed to always have a history lesson to tell via the music...
The true lesson to be learned is perseverance!
    Endeavor to persevere Melora.
Know you are loved and appreciated by at least one other wandering/wondering soul...

@DrZook Truthfully? Those pop stars just get more exposure due to backing by large record companies, and most people are too lazy to search for hidden gems in the indie world. That's what it really comes down to. It's very risky to go against the grain, which is what makes Melora and Rasputina so unique and wonderful - but, also not very well known.
Personally, I respect Melora so much for "having the courage to go a different way." ;) ♥♥♥

Love so much, I’m old and my Mom was a professional cello player in the Chicago Symphony and loved mostly classical . I think she would love Rasputina if Mom was alive. She reminds me of Mom playing for us and it brings good memories. OK off to listen to more of my talented singer/songwriter/cellist and her band.
    Seriously needs accolades by critics.

I've followed her since around the time Rasputina toured with Manson in 96ish or so - she is a hidden gem full of unending creativity. She's too good for this pop country world. You're right though. The concept of a classic instrument paired with a rock sensibility brings the old world and evolving world together.

@DrZook ಠ_ಠ I appreciate the effort, but carpel parvo is a real person in the same way the Bensonhoist Lesbian Choir is a real choir. The unfortunate difference being that the BLC was only ever one group of name known individuals.
