basically that there was a child who disobeyed rules and ran into a demon, in exchange for his life he told the demon a location of the rest of the kids and Gyomei… that kid is Kaigaku. So Gyomei knew Kaigaku when he was still a child and Gyomei was taking care of them

Killing a lower moon is enough to be an hashira the point is that the demon slayer corps is dissolved after this arc so he won't be a an hashira
