GÜLNUŞ EMETULLAH GOVERNOR SULTAN TOMB

Hello everyone from Zagor TV RUclips channel. The tomb of Gülnuş Emetullah Valide Sultan stands at the present stop of our tomb visits in Istanbul.
Gülnûş Emetullah Valide Sultan is a member of the Verzizzi family of Venice and is believed to have been born in Crete in the 1640s. It is also known as Râbia Emetullah Gülnûş and Emetullah Gülnûş. During the conquest of Rethymno by the Cretan resident Deli Hüseyin Pasha, he was taken prisoner to Istanbul and presented to the palace, and was named Gülnûş for his beauty.

His body was brought to Istanbul and he was buried in the tomb in front of Yeni Vâlide Mosque that he had built in Üsküdar.
Despite his robust position, Gülnûş Vâlide Sultan, who was generally away from politics and relatively far from the intrigues of the palace, was not given much activity in the Ottoman chronicles, probably because of his attitude. During the reign of Hasekiye, the fountain and wells on the pilgrimage road built by an old church that had been burned in Galata during the reign of his eldest son Mustafa Mustafa, and the fountain of Sultan Ahmed, Üsküdar during the reign of Sultan Ahmed. The mosque, sebil, fountain, imaret, medical school and madrasah built on the right side of the pier can be considered as a complex.
The tomb was built in 1713 during Gülnuş Sultan's health. The octagonal tomb is enclosed in metal circles and covered with a dome. The dome carries eight round columns connected to each other by pointed arches. The columns are surrounded by metal networks. On the skirt of the dome that covers the tomb, it is written with sülüs inscription “İnnehu min Süleymane and İnnehu Bismillahirrahmanirrahim and Ayet’el Kürsi. On the north side of the tomb there is a bronze gate. In the middle of the tomb is the tomb of Gülnuş Sultan. The head and foot stones of the grave are quite large and decorated with oyster shells, mihrablets, stalactites and reliefs. One of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman tombstones, spring roses, footsteps, carnations, tulips coming out of the vase on the footstone were embossed. In the headstone, an Arabic inscription with talic writing was used.

Hello Mirjana. There is a poem on the fountain. This poem belongs to Poet Taib. Unfortunately it is in old Turkish language. Cause of this i can not understand and translate to u. But in general they are talking about she was helpful. She had it done fountains and mosques. She was not active in palace intrigue cause of that historians says she was the happiest woman in Ottoman palace. Best Regards from Turkey!
