This is actually is my favourite song in the entire musical. While You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch is the most memorable song in the Grinch that basically is about the physical description of the Grinch based on his features but One of a Kind perfectly sums up what the Grinch is like as a person and describes to us (the audience) what the Grinch’s personality is like hence the reason why he sees himself as “one of a kind”. But that’s just my honest analysis.
I'm 95% sure that Matthew Morrison was robotripping this whole show. His erratically flamboyant mannerisms, his slurred voice, the constant inhaling through his teeth, the fact robotussin exploded in popularity during the pandemic. Truly the funniest bad performance I've ever seen.
I’m not gonna lie and this may be a very unpopular opinion but I do think it’s more fun than You’re a Mean One, Mister Grinch. Don’t get me wrong I like the classic song too. It’s just that these songs are very different. What do I mean by that? Well, You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch perfectly describes the Grinch’s physical description whereas One of a Kind perfectly describes the Grinch’s personality, lifestyle and his lack of social interaction because let’s face it, we ALL known someone like the Grinch, met someone like the Grinch and even at times have been someone like the Grinch to a certain degree when it comes to not just during Christmas but pretty much everyday.
@disneyfab9134 dang didn't you already write a paragraph in the comments, btw it's a song it's not that deep 😭. (Sorry to look rude I just share my opinion 😅)
I can see why people didn't like. Onstage, One of a Kind is a real showstopper! Here, Morrison lacks the fun Patrick Page and Karl Stefan, (who is actually the best in my opinion) put into it
I actually like the way he sang this song particularly during the end at 2:21-2:29 where his voice flows nicely with the music. Yes. I know. He may not be as great as Stefan Karl or Patrick Page but he does have his moments and I really don’t think he deserves all the hate that he gets nor this musical itself. That’s just my honest opinion on it. Plus given the fact that this all took place during the first year of Covid, I can at least give all those who have worked on it some credit that they all try to make this musical just to bring smiles to people’s faces even though the execution of the story and some of the songs can be weird and awkward at times. Let’s just all at least cut them some slack for this. They all did what they had to do during Covid and I think it was a very brave thing they did to try to bring some happiness and good cheer into the world when we were in desperate need of it during that time or masking, isolation, quarantine, etc. 😊😊
Thank you!!! This is what I’ve been saying! Despite its flaws, it’s fun to watch this iconic story brought to life during the time when we needed it! 💚❤️🤍
@@dcemerald70 I don’t really understand why this gets SO MUCH hate that it got. Yes it’s awkwardly acted. Yes it was a bit clunky in certain scenes but despite its flaws, it’s still enjoyable to watch and the music itself still fits the whimsical nature of Dr Seuss. We DESPERATELY REALLY needed this after what we were all going through during the pandemic-physically, emotionally, mentally and socially. We NEEDED stories of hope like this to help us get through those hard times and bring us all into the light and without it, there would BE NO HOPE FOR MANKIND AT ALL. Give those people and the actors who were very involved in it soooo much credit for putting this all together even if it was super awkward and super risky for them to work around at the time.

I mean, I have fun laughing at it.
Which is why I'm here to do just that 2 years after this hysterical catastrophe was unleashed upon the world.
Reed Sigmund's Grinch (CTC)
