Totally agree with you but I preferred Beijing lol. I lived in China for 15 years and loved every minute of it. I hope to visit again as soon as China opens up after this pandemic is over. I read on another vlog that you can walk on the sidewalks in some US cities carrying a gun, but you can't have an open container of beer! I am second generation Australian chinese, when I was young I thought china was a evil county to live in. The news, all the Media telling me people in China are living in hell. My father then said why do you find yourself the answers, oneday when you are ready? So during past ten years I visited China as much as I could, I am so falling love with China. People are so kind even I am a banana. There's so many conflicts based on our news, real chinese are so happy, they been living on higher standard than our OZ does They teach me from the scratch. So many wonderful memories and experiences. Especially during the COVID-19 outbreak, Chinese people believe all the humans' live are matters. I did receive loads of helps from local communities, now I am finally back to Australia, but I felt safer when I was in China, I don't know why, can't explain it. I will be definitely go back to China after settling my parents' businesses.
People are so kind even I am a banana😂👍 But when you go back to Australia, people don't care if you're a banana or not, you look like Chinese, some hatred will come at you😡
How can you be a second-generation Australian, but not a native speaker of English? From your syntax, you are obviously not a native speaker. (Ex: "Why don't you. . . " "lives are matters (n)," vs. "lives matter (v)" "even I am," instead of "even though I am." I wholeheartedly agree with the point the video makes that Chinese people are kind and friendly; this has been my experience both in China and in the U.S. No matter what someone's political beliefs are, I think they'd have similar experiences interacting with Chinese. I just don't understand why the internet is full of Chinese posters who jump to defend China by writing as overseas 2nd gen Chinese or foreigners, when they clearly aren't. There just isn't any need to be anything less than genuine to defend such an easy-to-agree-with topic like this. (I'd never criticize a non-native speaker for some small syntax issues like these. I just mention them as tell-tale signs that someone was not born and raised in Australia.)
Same. I'm a Brit who moved to Hong Kong and have been travelling and working in China. Makes you realise there are alot of false narratives being drummed into people back in the UK, especially since the UK tried to strike stronger ties with the US.
@@tomjwjss lot better than they make out....if you believed everything that western media tells you ....then you would think that China is like a Stalinist totalitarian dystopia with secret police everywhere ready to arrest you for even the slightest insult to China and that you are followed and spied on everywhere you go and the Chinese people have no say in everything .... Fortunately the truth is more nuanced , if you go to China to create mayhem , start an insurrection against the government and create riots and general disorder or rumour monger then yes the Chinese government will drop on you very hard , if your intention is to sight see , enjoy Chinese rich culture , live a decent ordinary life then the Chinese government will not even bother you they have better things to do than bother ordinary people like making sure the country runs smoothly for the majority....
so not surprised! the british empire has done so much harm to china and the rest of the world (and is now acting through the us neo cons)... because of the language barrier and the propaganda so many people are totally confused and don't see that the bogeyman is our own govts here in the west. i pray for peace and understanding and justice as well!

I have 100 reasons to love China. I love the foods, the culture, the heritage buildings, the development, the peace, the people and the Government - they are superb.
I loved China when I went for 3 weeks tour of the country. Then I said I wanted to return. I still do. I even thought about living there but it is too late for me - I am an old age pensioner on my own, lost my husband. If he is here with me that will be our dream place to live. I particularly like the exercises and dancing in the parks! I even joined them. And they loved it. Yes, very friendly people. Lots of interesting and lovely places to visit, not to forget the food. I shall think about another holiday to China after this virus. Thank you for your video, brings back memories.
Hi Wendy, Thank you so much for your comment. I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to make (one of) your dream(s) come true. The dancing in the park is amazing! I love it too.
I only spent 6 weeks in China, but even I experienced a lot of these points for myself. We met so many helpful Chinese people when we were lost or unsure about certain situations. Totally agree about the safety and they definitely have an app for everything! I had no idea you can get so many services straight to your house though. Interesting to hear about the cost of living. Oh man, the food. So good!
Being able to get all of those services to my house is kind of crazy, I'd say. I've only used it for facials and a manicure once. I'd like to get out of the house too for those things.

I totally agree with your ten reasons! China is a wonderful place, so far from western media's lies. I hope one day I'll be able to come back to this amazing Country.
Of course, Chinese people are wonderful. But criticisms are not about Chinese individuals. Don’t be naive and watch your back, in China. If you are mistakenly accused of a crime, there is no trial, no enquiry. I met Chinese judges. They told me they were fed up with that job. Fed up of giving death sentences.

From what I watched about China here on You Tube, I am growing to love it more and more. I have always been unsure about how American media portrays different countries, so I would rather hear from the people themselves that live there. 😀
Yes, China is huge and if you were to visit every part of it, it will take you many years. Thanks Yvonne...this was refreshing. I have been so dissatisfied with the way China has been ganged up on by blame-seekers over the Covid situation. I am way more empathetic to China now than before the pandemic.
My reasons 1) my kid and my wife can go out at midnight..any street any place.. very safe 2) people.. no bullies, no gangsters, no robbers, no guns, no racists, no drugs,
I have been to China. I have met a few rude people, but that is expected no matter where you go. There are bullies in China, I've seen a couple (also helps that I can speak the language). I did not experience any robberies, but I was pick pocketed, so there is crime. Racists: Well, there are prejudices, especially to those who do not speak Mandarin (I speak Cantonese primarily, but am able to speak Mandarin). If a person does not speak Mandarin, but speak another dialect, to some, you are not considered "real" Chinese. One of my Chinese friends had told me that Mandarin from Taiwan is not real Chinese. They don't speak real Chinese. Go figure. As for drugs, it depends on where you are. Jackie Chan's son was charged for drug possession. You have to know where to look. As a whole, most of the people are good. I found it wasn't as bad at night, but I still was on the cautious side. It was probably due to being brought up to be aware of my surroundings because anything can happen in an instant.

I really like your list! I have lived in Beijing for almost 3 years and I am I glad I picked it over Shanghai and Hong Kong. The convenience is definitely something unique, especially since that convenience does not come at a cost, like in the west. And I love the public bikes! Cost of living in Beijing is much lower than you'd expect from a major city, which makes paying that higher rent a bit of a shock. From what I've seen, the rents are on par with those in EU capital - Brussels, Belgium- and the quality is almost as bad. If you move outside the city, you can find amazingly cheap apartments that are sparkling and brand new, but then you are subjected to a time-draining daily commute to work in the city. Food, culture, language, and travel are my top 4 reasons, so we practically agree there. Great list, Yvon. Keep up the great work!
Like yourself and others sharing on this post, I can to China for six months. I am also in my 10th year. I married a Chinese lady and my experience is pretty much the same as yours. I am in the south in Zhuhai which is also an amazing place to live,
Safe is a very relative term, covering many things. Food safety and hygiene, China can be unsafe. Honest prices from vendors, China is unsafe with the unsuspecting being cheated often. On the road, China is unsafe. Reckless driving, unqualified and uninsured drivers are common. Ever heard of children being snatched and disappearing in China? Parents are nervous to let kids out of their sight for this reason. Ever read the stories about weird mental dudes attacking kids with knives in kindergartens? Buying things and shopping online for branded products is unsafe with fake and counterfeit products everywhere. Protection with law and legal issues? Wildly unpredictable and so unsafe. Health issues ranging from respiratory illness to silly things like sunburn during scorching hot summers, China is again unsafe. Pickpockets in busy streets, wandering hands swiping things in Internet cafes, yep ... common in unsafe China. However, if you are a foreigner who walks around drunk at 1am frequently, you will encounter less aggressive drunks and street crime than at home. But on all the other issues mentioned, I 100% believe my UK hometown is far safer .... based on my many years in China from 2006 to 2019 in Hainan, Yangshuo and Beijing. "China is safe" is a common and untrue sentence. Which is why Chinese buy milk powder from foreign countries, warn people to avoid street food places who reuse oil, are nervous of buses and travel during Spring Festival and panic about kids being snatched.
There's another reason that people often take for granted and can't see it through without some serious brainstorming: Hope. Hope makes living in China much much more attractive. See, we humans live on hope, which makes life so much easier and frankly so much happier as a result. Since China is one of the very few, if not the only, major countries that advance in leaps and bounds, most people living in China have hopes , realisticly believing that tomorrow will be even better than today. In the streets you constantly witness that hope by the sheer energy and speed of the society advancement, BIG smiles (literally) in in so many faces, and optimistic spirits from all walks of life 24X7, every day, and every year... This is not so in many other countries, even in Europe, where uncertainty about tomorrow or the day after tomorrow is almost always in the air for many people. This makes life more dulling, more tendency towards violence, and sometimes less bearable.
If you can't provide your fellow men/women real hope, give them fake hope. 1967 When the US was loosing VN war, 4-star gen. William Westmoreland: "We can see the light at the tunnel now". Few months later, when the US embassy in Saigon was infiltrated & under brutal attack, Walter Cronkite: "We were told that we've won the war" on CBS News. Early April, Covid 19 blew up in USA, Trump tweeted again: Light at the end of the tunnel. then US recorded 3,331 deaths and 81,740 cases when Trump light shinned at the tunnel. Now 10th Sept, the total death was 191,000 & 6.38 Million total case Is the light still shinning at the end of the tunnel.
I love China. I visited China for business three times and would love to live there for 3 months to learn the culture, language and travel. Love your channel too.
China looks like a fascinating country. I agree that people are such an important part of our experience in places. Sounds much more convenient than my house. I'm so in the middle of nowhere that not a single restaurant does Deliveroo (or similar service) to my door. I have to go out and collect takeaways! I can't get past how diverse the Chinese landscape is. No way do I think of grasslands in China. It really does have a lot to offer. I think Chinese food looks amazing. I am absolutely dying to try traditional Chinese food.
It is a fascinating country, on so many levels. That doesn't sound too fun, having to go out and get takeaway. That takes away of the convenience. But on the other hand, it must be nice too to live somewhere rural and quiet? Chinese food is delicious! There's so much! It wasn't easy to select only 10 things for my list, haha.
I’ve lived there and didn’t want to go back home actually as its laid back there and it is a good place generally speaking but it is very polluted and overcrowded. Standards of living are relatively low. People there are very nice and non americanised. Put it this way, cars get right of way there, not pedestrians. Beware of that one.
Top 2 pros of China are convenient and safety. When I went to China, I realized it was unhealthy to have to worried about safety issues in the States at night. In China, I didn't need to stay alert and it was so common for people to hangout at night in parks. There were many activities going on at night apart from drinking and parties. Online shopping could be delivered the same day. No extra membership fee like Amazon Prime, which still takes 2-3 days to deliver in most cities. And the delivery fees for restaurants are nothing in China, compared to a fixed fee plus 15% tips. Of course I'm willing to pay more to delivery guys.
I will be moving to China in a few months and greatly look forward to this move. I have already been to Chengdu, Beijing and Nanjing as well as Hong Kong during previous trips. But this time I might move to and ultimately retire in China. For all the reasons you mention!

The Chinese way of life seems different, when I was there I ate in a cafeteria often and ate street food. The travel interesting but things are even more modern now. In Dalian, where I lived 2009, the city was modern but less modern than Beijing. The housing was abundant and improving. The people were helpful and less outgoing than now. Biking was difficult although was possible. The trains were slower and people were flying a lot. The beaches were crowded but the parks were easily accessed and comfortable. The sights there are unique and the experience incredible. Lots of food in the shops could be found at good prices. Your life in the city seems more distinctive than life in smaller cities. Ten years is a long to spend in the country. I spent seven months there. I know Holland., I have family there. You must like living in China to live there so long.
Excellent report. Over the past few years, I've heard plenty about how attractive China is, and how so many westerners find life there so pleasant and enjoyable. This report just adds to the attraction.

I did receive loads of helps from local communities, now I am finally back to Australia, but I felt safer when I was in China, I don't know why, can't explain it. People are so kind even I am a banana😂👍
But when you go back to Australia, people don't care if you're a banana or not, you look like Chinese, some hatred will come at you😡
How can you be a second-generation Australian, but not a native speaker of English?

My reasons
1) my kid and my wife can go out at midnight..any street any place.. very safe
2) people.. no bullies, no gangsters, no robbers, no guns, no racists, no drugs,
2) is not fully true, it depend on where you live, in big city like Shanghai or some inner area. In general, the public security in China is very good

There's another reason that people often take for granted and can't see it through without some serious brainstorming:
Hope.
Now 10th Sept, the total death was 191,000 & 6.38 Million total case
Is the light still shinning at the end of the tunnel.

That doesn't sound too fun, having to go out and get takeaway. That takes away of the convenience. But on the other hand, it must be nice too to live somewhere rural and quiet?

For me, The Food, the Culture, The People of China, the Economy, and its Beautiful Landscape would Bring me to CHINA for Sure.
Such a wonderful clip introducing Beijing. It brings me a thought of moving to China in near future as well. I currently live in Canada.
Love your straight to the point and unbiased opinion, subscribed.
CHINA IS AMAZING! I haven't been back to China due to illness but I've been doing better lately so here's hoping for a reunion!
Let's hope for a speedy recovery!
Excellent report. Over the past few years, I've heard plenty about how attractive China is, and how so many westerners find life there so pleasant and enjoyable. This report just adds to the attraction.
Yes.
People are nice, kind, pretty harmless, and not crazy there 😝
This shows that the truth is out there. For those haters out there, you can either believe everything you hear from the media, or to seek out the truth yourself. Less hate, more love please. Peace to all. And thanks lady for being a mediator. God bless
I'm glad you enjoy your life here. 😉😉seems like you've had a lot of fun!
I have had a lot of fun in the past. Still having a lot of fun here in general.
I lived in Beijing for 10 years too!
Really miss it, cannot agree more everything you mentioned!
Hi, GoYvon, Great video. I think, It's important to know the reasons why people live in where they are living. Thanks for sharing.
We visited China couple times and we would love to go again! so many things to see!
We also just visited Rotterdam a month ago, will make that to a video as well later, surprise to see that in your video about China. :)
I also have been to more than 20. Cities in China. And won't get tired of that

@@GoYvon last year so not bad. Planning go back next year again.
I so wish I was 20 years younger. I’d be right there with you!
The safety factor is actually quite important for me, you can't appreciate a holiday if you're constantly fearing for your life or hanging onto your luggage for dear life. Even pick pockets are rare now, with the Many CCTVs around I really do feel safe.
I am glad you are happy in Beijing. I was in Beijing several times and it is beautiful. The food in China is cheap and super delicious. Plus there is almost no new coronavirus cases now in China. Definitely worth to move in
In China, there are many places you must go, places you must see and things you must do.... Happy living...
Beautiful ❤️ China.
I love China from nepal.
Excellent video. While I've just awakened to today's China, I have been doing so much research. "Consider the source" Such an honest viewpoint from the ground is a real treat. I have been observing China as a protagonist all my 72 years. I suppose it were old black and whites of them building a great canal by hand. Such good hard working people, and many positive great projects, everywhere. And a leadership working for the country as a whole. There must be a Chinese saying about working with water. I'm in reverence to the people of China, big hug..
