Brave Woman! I am from Davao City and I had encountered a lot on the road, even worst than this. However, when in doubt, ask the locals and please do not hesitate to ask from them, we Filipinos are always ready to help.Just a Tip: Plan your trip well, Check weather updates, and most importantly if your are still going to your destination, make sure to travel during the day. Visibility during night time is challenging especially if there's flood. When your nervous or afraid, just sing, it helps..especially Gospel Songs. Ingat always!
Wow you're such a strong willed woman. However, as a safety precaution check the weather condition first before travelling and resume only if the weather is fine. I guess the lesson you've learned is to check the weather first before going to a long drive at the same time you also found out that you are strong enough to deal with the challenges that presented through your travel. You have to be careful when driving in the rural areas of Mindanao. It is a mountainous area and is prone to a landslide if it rains.
Do some research before you go.
Ask the locals first where to go and if it is safe.
Always check the weather first before heading out.

Just a word of advice Jelena...make sure to check the weather before getting on the road. You may want to ask the locals for information about the place you are heading to.

These are just common road challenges you must face in the Philippine especially during rainy season. most important is you always monitor weather advisories, always make plans on your travels/trips, be sure to check the condition of your car, and always have a strong determination while travelling dangerous roads. Besides, you can do it because you are a strong woman.

Jelena you have a lot of guts, driving through that kind of weather and the roads lots of blockade and rocks due to landslide, mudslide some parts are also flooded good thing you did not get a flat tire, also some advice while driving on that weather and road condition turn off the aircon windows down it will lessen the the power the engine requires you have a very small engine displacement take care always.
Please be mindful of the weather when you travel specially to remote areas and long travels , I'm glad you and your children makes it back home safely 🙏

Get use to it , that's life in the Philippines during the rainy day season just be careful when driving in the flooded areas be sure the flood water isn't that high to snag your vehicle. We love the rainy season cause of a much cool weather and those rain necessary for the Philippines to maintain its greenery. It's God's way of watering his plants and trees in this country

I guess, plan your next destination to Bukidnon, the road in more wider and beautidul, and you can you to Cagayan de Oro city.
Because it's currently rainy season in the Philippines, and it can rain at anytime in the mountains in the Philippines. In the Philippines, it's better to travel during dry season.
Jelena when its raining land sometimes slide, but not all the time...that mountain is out of tree that's why it slide.

still an amazing view and very challenging drive, I had this experience before with my first drive, we went to baguio then suddenly very heavy rain and visibility goes to ZERO coz of fog as we go down, then something explode behind us, I think it was a transformer, after 10 mins the rain stopped, thank God...Be careful also Jel and kids

Next time you go to black sand beach, bring magnet and piece of paper, put sand on top, magnet below paper and sand will move with magnet. The sand will stick to magnet also without the paper because the sand is iron. When I was a little girl, our elders would make us eat a little bit of sand to have iron minerals in our body. Hopefully, it is still clean enough to do that!

The Philippines' rainy season has already started. The rainy season is until February. So plan your travels carefully and always check the weather.
It depends on the part of the philippines. Here in northern luzon rainy season are just 5 months june to october. The rest of the year is very drought.
