  • I'm presuming that this was intended to be a cheerfully themed film, and may have seemed so in 1934. Now it just serves as another poignant reminder of the human cost of war, even 20 years after the event when this was filmed. It begins at a London railway station as veterans with varying levels of disability embark on a trip to Thanet. There they meet the Mayor (who clearly had a much more comfortable war experience) and have drinks and cigarettes by the sea in Cliftonville. It is silent due to previous uploads having the public domain Erik Satie piano music cut by RUclips.

Interesting film, I would love to be able to speak to those involved although it did look grim, everybody dressed in their best but glum faces. To think that five years later it all kicked off again.
