The tower is vintage, the car is a current model.

I got one of these when I turned 4. My first memory was seeing this set up in my house, with cars all over it. It was my favorite playset for years.
The first playset I remember loving and being afraid of was 1999's Hot Wheels Shark Park playset. It was a roller coaster with a chomping shark.
I just found mine at my mom's house. I remember it, but I thought it was gone forever. It's in great shape, but the Dyno-Meter sign is missing, taken off for storage.
Nice overview of the tune-up tower, now that you've got them fixed up. I wish you had used an old car though! D:
Great video once again. And very helpful to see the Tune Up Tower up close in a video as I embark on a restoration of one that I recently acquired.
awesome video
Thank you.
Great production as always sir. Awesome tunes too!
I wonder, could you still straighten out axles of modern Hot Wheels cars that roll to the left or right with the axle straightening tool that came with the tower? That Pontiac didn't seem like it was rolling straight?
Good question. The answer is no. Current Hot Wheels cars use a much thicker axle than the early redline cars had. Consequently, it is very difficult to bend or straighten a modern Hot Wheels car's axles and the 1970 Tune-Up Wrench does not fit. I plan to show all this 4 videos from now.
Awesome! Just got one out the basement of my aunts house. My nephew and I love it. Any tips on how to get the elevator belt to grab? Motor works but the belt seems to slip
Check out my video on how to repair the elevator.
Can you guide me to sources for missing parts?
how does that dyno mechanism work?
Another fine review! this was the set that you refurbished, isn't it? If so, consider puttung an end slate at the end of the video to link back to that video too!
Thanks Mark. Good idea.
Please tell me exactly what oil to use on the axles. You mentioned plastic compatible but i couldnt read the brand of oil.
The stuff I am using is called "white oil", which means it is mineral oil. Mineral oil is light and may very well have been what Mattel used in their factories during the redline era. As far as I can tell, Mattel does not use any oil on current production cars.
lol - good fun...are you going to incorporate it into a race??
Yes, for the next video in fact. That beat up '68 Custom Corvette that couldn't run the entire drag strip (about 6 videos ago) will get a full tune up in the Tune-Up Tower and we'll see how it fares against the black Corvette. Stay tuned!
sounds like loads of fun. cannot wait for it :) :)
