Space Hopper is one of my favorite Spacesyth tracks of all time. For the longest time I've been wanting to do a cover version, so I finally gave it a go. I was trying to recreate all the sounds exactly as in the original, but sadly I had difficulty achieving that. So for some of the melodies I ended up using different sounds while throwing a Laserdance style vocoder in there.

Thanks for your comment S U. The tutorial video is something I've thought about for a while but never really tried to do it. It's something that's on the back of my head and I just gotta make some time for it. Hopefully later this year I'll do one.

DUDE! This sounds in my opinion better than the original and that's no disrespect towards Michiel Van Der Kuy, but rather as a massive compliment to you.
Even the mixdown sounds amazing. The synth leads sound fuller whereas I felt in the original pressing the kick vastly overpowered the rest of the elements of the song (but I'm sure that had to do with side-chaining not being invented at the time ;-] )
Your mix vastly blows the rest out of the water. Incredible job! I would love to hear you rework more M. Van Der Kuy productions but I know your originals and remixes are killer too!
Thank you very much for your kind words. I still prefer Michiel's version better. I love those analog sounds he uses and the overall analog sound of the mix. Even though I was able to somewhat replicate a few of the patches in the digital realm, it's still not the same.
The one thing I'll say about Michiel's mix that I found a bit distracting, is the fact that he panned the bass hard left. When listening on headphones it feels a bit weird for me. When I decided to do this cover I knew I wanted to keep the bass in the center. I did put quite a bit of stereo width on it but made sure to keep lower frequencies monoed out. I also decided to add the Humanoid Invasion bass line to it to give the track a bit more drive and make it more energetic.
