As a new plant parent, this is one of my dream plants. I ordered one yesterday, and this is going to be super helpful - thank you for posting this, and all of your other videos. You’re fun to watch and you teach me new things!
I rescued one a month ago, she had 4 yellow leaves. Yesterday I saw a leaf had appeared and it's lots bigger already. I saw the places where three others are going to appear soon on the other leaves too. 🎉
i found a monstera on a abandoned resort near our house so obviously i took a couple(?) snips and propagated them and not know how to take care of it and this helped me so much
@@JunoBug427 in my experience, you can just put a small container full of water in your pot, and tuck an areal root in it (you can do more than one) and let the root soak up the water. I just leave it there until all the water is gone, and then fill it back up. (You do still need to water the soil)
Those roots are not for nutrient uptake. They will absorb water but you can actually damage your plant in the long run because it can become dependent on them for water and won’t use it’s real roots and therefor will not get nutrients from the soil it needs. I’ve been told by a botanist that it is better, if you want to do something that is, to mist your air roots 1-2 time a week and it will supplement but not replace the real roots. They are mostly for climbing and making sure the plant can hold itself upright to the sun and climb.
I just got my first monstera today after pining for one for weeks, I was super nervous at first but this video has given me a lot of confidence I can handle it. Tysm :)
I just picked up my very first monstera deliciosa today from Home Depot and she’s looking gorgeous. I’ve been wanting one for soooooo long! I hope she thrives with me🥺💚
"Aerial roots" Ah, yes. I have experience with those. Thanks to orchids. This video makes me feel better about the monstera cutting I bought. Thank you!! I don't feel like I'll murder it now 💙
perfect timing for this video! i just got my first monstera a week ago. its a baby and had no idea it was a montera when i bought it and felt a bit overwhelmed, but now i feel ready to watch her grow. thanks for all the lovely info.
I have a huge one under palm trees in chook pen it is about 6m+ wide and fruits regularly. ( came with house when bought 11 years ago and has grown heaps) We live at foot of mountains in ( Healesville, Yarra valley, Victoria Australia) and get a lot of frost but it still thrives. Thanks for letting me know how to propagate
Recently I learned there is a different type of monstera called monstera borsigiana. which can also be known as a branch off the deliciosa i think. But I was wondering why my leaves don’t grow as big or as many splits as my roommate’s plant and it’s bc mine is a borsigiana. As they grow it becomes easier to tell and apparently the only way you can be sure of which one you have is if you get a cutting from a true deliciosa or a borsigiana. there are a few minor differences between the two but i hope this might help anyone wondering why their plant looks different from a true deliciosa :)
I love my 🪴. It has a humidifier because it is spoiled. It was about 2 ft. In 2 months it is now 4ft. I do clean the leaves once a month with water and olive oil. Henry is beautiful 😍. And doesn't like cold at all.
I was going to spend my time watching different monstera videos. But I feel satisfied after watching. Currently have semi moist soil, a plant light and a humidifier :)
First of all, your skin is GORGEOUS. Glowing and so pretty. Second, thank you so much for the informative video, can't wait to get my first monstera. Your vibes are so calming.
Thanks for this video! My Monstera is my fav fav fav plant-person so any tips for keeping it healthy is always appreciated!! This was SUCH A HELPFUL VIDEO!! Like, wow! Where have you been all my life !? I had no idea about the aerial root thing! My plant has those too & I thought it was a sign I needed to re-pot into something bigger. So glad I didn’t! my monstera has massively gorgeous leaves w/ a great slit+hole pattern on pretty much every single leaf. 👍🏻 I was noticing how dry my central a/c makes my apartment and was worried it was not gonna be great for my plant. Instead of doing the humidifier thing I just keep my windows open as much as possible and the plant loves it! I also like to rotate my plant almost daily. It sits in front of windows (no direct sun) so I rotate it & I swear its the reason my entire plant’s SUPER lush and full w/ a very even growth pattern. I have no idea if any of the stuff I shared is legit haha but I certainly think it helps! 🤸🏼♀️ Happy planting! 🪴🌱🪴🌱🪴
I love my Monstera, it just needs a lot of elbow room. I don't stake mine and have to cut it back every year. i was 4 feet for a small South facing window, but now it's 2 feet from a bigger West facing window. Happy days
Hi… great video… I over watered my plant initially but have got it under control now and it’s growing well now thank goodness … there are some damaged leaves remaining (one yellow And a few with crispy edges)… would you recommend cutting them off or just leave? Thanks Cat
Found out my boyfriend had one growing in his backyard and he didn’t even know it was there!! Gonna take a cutting when I visit next time and this is really gonna help
You just gave me confidence to finally get it. I always loved it but it intimidated me a lot. I'd be sad to mess such beauty up. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦 🇿🇦
Thank you for sharing, i love monstera. Right now i have 2 of them in a pot indoor.. i worry that they are having a slow growth, new leaf not coming out for quite long now..
Question… I have a couple of baby leaves with dark brown on their leaves and they are a bit droopy…. I’m thinking maybe root rot?? You mentioned not to repot, but I’m afraid it will rot if I don’t…. I think I need to add perlite and the orchid bard because the potting soil I used I think is too dense… Thoughts?
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ my mom just bought me one of these plants, I didn’t know anything about these until I watched your video. Your is so beautiful and big thanks for explaining it so well. Hopefully I can grow mine as healthy looking as yours. Oh and your 🐕 in the end is so cute looking out the window.
Very very helpful video..making this my bible for mostera. I got one today from home depot in 10inch nursery pot. I have put inside the house for now. what should i do next? Fertilize it? Repot it? The soil is moist and I have moisture meter so will wait for watering. I eventually want to move it to the shade in my patio, any suggestions on how and when to transition? Looking forward to learning about this beautiful plant.
if it's looking healthy, i would honestly just let it acclimate for 2ish weeks before doing anything. once it's adjusted to your home you can repot. if there's no fertilizer beads in the soil, you can then fertilize too! shaded outside is a great way to introduce the plant to outside light. good luck with your new baby!
@@GoodandPlanty quick question do you use fish emulsion or any other liquid fertilizer on your indoor plants? Just saw your video again and found the fertilizer you use :) Whats your take on FE?

Thank you for such great information I just bought one yesterday and I am hoping it stays alive and healthy. Would it be ok to us the UV lights? If so for how long?
My mom has one and she always told me that when it needed water it would like cry kinda by dropping water from the tip of the leaf also I heard misting the plant every once a week is what they like too? Is that true 🥲🥲🥲
So informative! You’re monstera are gorgeous. There’s another video on here about monstera from a girl called planterina and you guys are really spot on. Almost like I was watching the same video twice. You should check her out.

Hope you can help, my husband got me a monstera deliciosa yesterday & it is very small but some leaves have black on them. Should I repot in new soil or leave it be for a few days? 🥺
I just received my Monstera today. It is in a 10 inch pot. I am completely and totally new with us but I am willing to put in the time and effort for this kind of plant. As far as the soil is concerned, when should I change it? Also, you put The percentage for the soil, that part I’m not getting entirely. I don’t know exactly how much I’m going to use.
So, I have a question. My Monstera has some dry brown spots. Just like dead plant. It's mostly in one leaf, but also at some other parts. Does anyone know, where that's from? Also, what can I do to stop that? Thank you for your help in advance.
I just got a couple, I knew they will get big, and I already put them on their new pots, but, the pots don't have the holes for drain at the bottom, any special recommendation based on that, I don't want to repot them, should I just try to dig a hole at the bottom?
This really helped me with my new baby

As far as the soil is concerned, when should I change it? Also, you put The percentage for the soil, that part I’m not getting entirely. I don’t know exactly how much I’m going to use.
Should I wait until repotting to add the soil mixture?
So, I have a question.
My Monstera has some dry brown spots. Just like dead plant. It's mostly in one leaf, but also at some other parts. Does anyone know, where that's from? Also, what can I do to stop that?
Thank you for your help in advance.
I just got a couple, I knew they will get big, and I already put them on their new pots, but, the pots don't have the holes for drain at the bottom, any special recommendation based on that, I don't want to repot them, should I just try to dig a hole at the bottom?
