I went to the Philippines for 2 months and stayed in several hotels during that time. I also ate out most nights except when friends invited me to eat with them. I spent less than half what you said Bill including my plane ticket.
I dont even make 12k a year. I dont understand how people need so much to survive. People have lost their ability to make due. Ive never understood the need to adorn yourself or flex your ego with fancy things. Living off of the land is a blessing.
Have you ever stopped to think that for you to have your life style, others have to work to ensure you get to life it?. I did not feel like he was being boastfull rather trying to inform. Granted I would never be able to afford such a thing my self, good for him to be able to afford such things.
If you make it on 12 grand a year your mortgage is paid off or you live in a cave.

I went to Bogota, Colombia; rented the penthouse of a very nice hotel for one week, and the total bill was $525.00. There are many sights to see, the food is fabulous, the people are friendly, and the weather is good. No beaches there, but unlike Bill, I don't have the body for it. LOL.

A last minute flight economy from CLE to Ft. Lauderdale was posted at $1000.00 . Normally its $250 to maybe $ 450. Instead I booked two one way flights CLE to Ft. Lauderdale was $132.00 & a returned flight of $147.00. A good tip I saw recently was to put an Apple air tag in your bag
( luggage) & before checking your bag with the tags on your bag take a picture with your phone.
I’m in the Caribbean right now. For 16k I can stay 42 days in an all inclusive luxurious property on the beach and want for absolutely nothing…Bill you are doing it wrong.

Yep, same thing happened to me a couple of years ago in Ontario, California. I got stuck with a parking fee, I had no car, it was nuts. But I was registered at a quilt conference, so I paid their fee and stayed there. But never again.

🤔 it’s a long list. Probably best to say stay away from big cities ran by far left democrats.
What about a Vrbo and have some groceries brought in . We always stay in a private home in Aruba . They have no extra sneaky costs . Only fee if you want is housekeeping . We opt not to get it for one week . Washer machine , dryer . Cleaning products are there if needed . Loading a dishwasher no big deal . And at home we change bedding once per week . So again that’s done when we exit by the person who maintains the property . If you do like some alcohol to make a drink I recommend duty free as you exit the airport . We rent a car . At dollar you can get a mid size to a small suv for 500 .00 for the week. So many great restaurants an all inclusive is not the way to go . And many great local places to eat that don’t break the bank . Plenty of great snorkeling bill 😊

Regarding the HOTEL costs, we found a better Caribbean solution 10 or more years ago... weekly rent a high-end Oceanside Island Home with a pool, cater-in and/or dine-out. Take your family and friends. FYI, Only. Fred (Farmingdale Fred)

Take a cruise and forget about it!
airbnb for me- the only thinng I don't like with them is the scam "cleaning fee". Unnecessary in my opinion. Most airbnb people are not slobs and keep the units clean when using.

Recently spent a week in Maui at a resort in the Waialua area paid for by my wife's employer. Stayed in an all suites hotel. Had a "partial ocean view". Asked about the same room for next year and was told $1,400 to $1,600 per night PLUS taxes and fees (which we estimated would bring the per night charge to about $2,000 / night). So that's about 25% on top with all the taxes and fees.
"We Hotel Puerto Morelos," Nice hotel, simple, 2 blocks from the Carribean Sea, easy beach access, French Patisserie right across the street, 1 block to Matilda's really cool coffee and pastry shop, 2 blocks to an incredible grocery store, (Chedraui), that serves affordable and expensive wine from a computerized kiosk to you while you shop, beautiful town square one block away, nice Catholic church right next to it, rooftop bar/restaurant and pool at the hotel with a beautiful ocean view, excellent swimming beach, all of that and more in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, (16 miles south of Cancun airport). $100.00 or less per night! Too expensive? Stay in Las Colonias across the main highway for $50.00 or less per night.
I'd love to travel, but, no. Staying put.

book a AirB&B in Bath, Maine. Coolest little fishing village. Its a mega home with views of the inlet and a coffee shop across the road. Very secluded, you can see the lobster and crab traps and boats. It’s amazing. Regular on season for 450/night, we stayed off season less than 250/night. Check it out. Anywhere in Bath is similar pricing.
We stayed at the RC Dorado Beach last January. FANTASTIC!!! You get a level of luxury unparalleled anywhere we’ve ever stayed.

Find a travel agent that specializes in the Caribbean - they'll sometimes have access to specials and may be able to throw in some perks. Some hotels have gone berserk with fees - Orlando, Miami & Vegas. Just like with the airlines charging for bags & seat assignments - they do it because they can & some people will pay it.
Maybe we will see you snorkeling some day in the Caribbean. Try VRBO.
I love to go to all-inclusives and have been to Mexico 44 times, but I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori five times and had to do two weeks of 4000 mg of antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor each diagnosis. The Caribbean is full of H. pylori. It’s horrible. Some people have to do three or four rounds of antibiotics and it still won’t go away. If you go, don’t eat anything uncooked and drink everything that is in a bottle, nothing with ice in it or from the tap. Also, go to a newer hotels because the old hotel pipes are full of H. pylori. Look it up. I won’t go there anymore. Long-term H. Pylori causes gastric cancer.

heading to Dominican republic in a couple weeks to Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana staying 7 nights for around $4500 flight included only 95 rooms all inclusive very laid back spa resort
Only All inclusive I went to was Caneel Bay in St. Johns, was beautiful, Quiet mature crowd. What I liked is you can go. off property and rent your own boat, snorkel off it, visit other islands , I didn't , you get into international waters , but did get a boat, liked it. Good restaurants. They give you your snorkel gear and most rooms are on the beach , so your can just wake up, swim snorkel off your back door. If it's still there, it was beautiful.
You are so funny Mr. O.....and for sure you will need a vacation after this big event. Way too much $$$ for lodging. Vacation in the US and do car camping....you can go anywhere and just rest in your own vehicle as comfortable as you can. Good to save money and get to eat big at any fancy restaurant. This advice is coming from a smart girl....me !!

You should charter a catamaran in the Caribbean. Many couples charter their boats, or someone else’s boat, with themselves as crew plus sometimes a cook. You have earned a break after this year my friend.
Bill, just checked they got a 3 nite stay in a Caribbean Airbnb for $75 a night. Yea it's in Haiti, and the nightly barbecue costs an arm and a leg, but the entertainment is free.

Head to Aruba Bill. No hurricanes, no crime, best drinking water in the world, best beaches, rent a car and explore the island, perfect weather always. We are going there November 4th. The day before the Election so we will be in a safe place when the election results come in and the US goes through another george floyd event.
OK, Bill...come on down to southeast Kansas at our place...3 acres in a 6-house subdivision outside of town...quiet, real quiet...4,000 sq. ft. home, pool in the backyard, lake 50 feet away...we'll smoke some barbecue, listen to the music of your choice, and "spin" some tall tales...I'm 75, the Mrs. is 72...the best part?...no charge.
Maybe String can play you out.
For me $100.00 a night is a lot of money so count me out. I never eat out except maybe a few times a year. I am very frugal but my house is beautiful and I do all my own landscaping. I am happy with my lot and feel I am so blessed.

I go to the Philippines on long vacations. I love Boracray White beach (rated in the top 10 beaches in the world). I stay at a 5 star hotel with my GF on the beach, with buffet breakfast included $90 a night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Philippines is not a safe country, & why it is cheap.
Anguilla. Cap Juluca. Expensive but not that much. Breakfast included. Other places there may not be as expensive. Some all exclusives ok but I never want to go again to one. Is November high season as well? Good luck. I remember the old days when there was a holiday inn on 7 Mike beach on grand cayman. Gone forever
Hey Bill. Your mind will blow up when you look at your car rental invoice and see that the $35 a day car rental turns into $150 day in fees.

Words and terms are tested to see which is more palatable to the human psyche. The word "Fee" sits better in the mind of people, as opposed to say " Tax" or "Additional costs". Think of it this way. Ask anyone how much they make, and they will tell you how much they take home. Funny how that works.

When life forced me to travel, I stayed at 4-star hotels, Grand Hyatt, Waldorf, similar places in many major cities. I cut out all travel in1995. I once had 3 Pakistani soldiers on leave as fellow first-class passengers on a Delta flight I believe, well before 9-11.01. (Maybe Pakastani soldiers always travel in 3's while on leave-I don't care) I wouldn't get on a plane for any reason other than to go to Heaven and in no way do I fear death.

Bill, skip PR and head east to St. Croix, USVI. Stay at the Buccaneer, a very nice resort. Their golf course is where Biden played when he came to the island. “Not a joke.” Great island with great diving and snorkeling. St. Croix is a laid back island that St. Thomas isn’t, IMO. Enjoy your time not working. You deserve a good break.
