Thank you for this introduction, very helpful! I was wondering, I'm basically only looking into this to make our on premise non-domain joined Linux VM's be able to leverage Entra ID authentication. Only that and nothing more, well at least initially. We already use this with SSH sessions on our Azure Linux VM's and it works flawlessly. Is it possible to use Azure Arc to integrate our on prem Linux VM's in Azure and use Entra ID to authenticate SSH sessions like we already do with our Azure VM's? If yes, do you think that's a good use case for Azure Arc? Or is that overkill?

You can and it's not overkill! At least not in my opinion.
When your Linux VMs are Arc-enabled you can install an extension on them via Azure called "Entra ID based SSH login" (or something similar), that will enable the usage of Entra ID based authentication on them.
I also don't think that kind of usage should trigger any costs either, so it's a great starting point :)

@@PetterTech Thank you for your reply. Good to know there's probably no costs involved. I'm gonna test it out. Cheers! 👍

So is Azure Arc something that will add value long term or just another junk cloud service from MS that will be deprecated in 2 years, then you need to migrate to some other cloud service...?????

I think that as long as there is a need for hybrid or multi-cloud a service like Arc will have its place. And that is the foreseeable future.
While I can’t make any promises on behalf of Microsoft, I can say that with the amount of investment they are putting in Arc and the adoption they are seeing it’s highly unlikely that Arc is going away in the next years

@@PetterTech That is the problem with MS they just rollout out so many half baked junk cloud services.....they you use them....then magically you need to migrate what a bunch of scum bags....

I think that's pretty much the nature of the cloud. Things change so rapidly. But as far as the deprecation of Azure services goes, even though they do get deprecated from time to time you do usually get close to a 3-year heads up before support ends for a service. They can get better at communicating those notifications, but things are improving

@@PetterTech All this change....does it really add value.....or just head ache for the consumer of some junk cloud service...and just added cost.....I would rather they just offer a more mature product...than some junk POS WIP.....as a product....its shameful sometimes....as providers have little to NO consideration for customers...shameful.....
