My son got stung at a playground. I could see the panic and pain hit him. I read to chew Plantain and put it on and it kicked in, I felt like a supermom. I chewed up some Plantain and it was almost instant relief. We won't forget that day. Thank you Rosalee for all you do, your amazing podcast, Herb Mentor monographs and books! So much amazing information. 💚
Thanks for sharing!! So sorry about the sting but love hearing about supermom powers! Yay you! Yay plantain! And yay your son for being up for a spit poultice. :)
One day as I was wandering on a forest trail a nasty bug dines on my flesh. I immediately searched for some plantain because I had heard of its drawing properties. I am allergic to certain biting insects and my throat swells to the point of closing up. Within a few steps I found plantain, chewed it and applied it to my arm. Not only did my throat not swell, but my arm had no swelling and the pain eased within a few minutes. I learned all of this from a dear woman named Rosalee. Thank you dear lady for sharing your knowledge. God Bless!
My first introduction to working with herbs was Plantain. I have a comfrey root out back and combined them successfully with a little home grown cannabis into a salve for my arthritic hands. I cannot smoke the stuff but my experimental salve is giving me relief. Now I am thinking, it may just be the comfrey and plantain as the major healing agents. Your interviews and information is very thorough.. I'm glad i signed up...plus have both books. A course on inflammation would be great. Cheers T
I put plantain, purple dead nettle, dandelion leaves, and cleavers in my blender with a couple cups of water and blend. Then strain and drink. I really like the flavor (the cleavers is tasty). I’m freezing them into ice cubes for later.
Purchased some plantain seeds from Mountain Rose Herbs to start growing this plant but then I also found it at the local park when I took my son there. I gathered my seeds from plants that were on the edge of the woods so they'd be away from any possible spraying. Purslane was another one I purchased but in hind sight probably should have just saved my $$$.
I especially enjoyed this episode as this is the first year I am working with plantain that I started from seed in the winter. I find it incredibly beautiful! After watching this episode, I am super pumped about incorporating plantain into my mom's life. I believe she could soooo benefit!
I love eating 1-3 Plantain leafs a day! Before they go to flower seems best but if they're not to dried out I can find them delicious! I also hear the flowers with their seeds can be ground up and used in foods!
Fascinating information and interview thank you. I knew of Plantain but didn't KNOW Plantain. And please ladies, don't forget the mama's that have concrete playgrounds - no plants or grass! They're city dwellers interested in herbs too. Just found an alcohol free tincture at Nature's Answer. No plants available living in a major city ... what about a poultice adding plantain oil on a bee sting? Thinking of you and your dad 🙏
Hey Rosalee, I struggle with anxiety issues that I don't know where they are coming from. I now drink lemon balm. Can I ask you a question about this? How could I use this the best way? Is there a "too much" ? I watched your video on Lemon Balm and I now drink 1.5 big teaspoon a day with a little amount of cooked water
Thank you so much! I am a newbie. You are so sweet and informative. Sadly I don't have plantain in my yard. I do know a place to ask may I dig some up.
Wow, plantain tincture…..I’ve never made it. I have always just chewed up the plant. But, that is So easy and handy. I wonder if works that way for bug bites also? I know for eating it’s best young and the plant is flowering right now but I wonder if I tincture some if it will be beneficial. Thoughts?
Definitely! I make a plantain tincture for my beekeeping friend and she swears by it. I agree that having the fresh plantain leaf is best, but the tincture also really helps.
When using herbs like plantain in a tea form, can I add spearmint or peppermint to make them taste better? Is there a rule or opinion on how many herbs I can blend to make a tea? Like a tablespoon or two per 8 oz. of water? Is there a book that you can recommend that tells us what herbs can not be used together? Thank you both so very much for your time and knowledge.
Adding a bit of a mint to plantain is fine. You have great questions about teas! I do have an entire course on making teas. You can find it on my site: herbswithrosalee.com
I am currently working my way through your videos and learning so much about the plants and herbs I have in my garden. You mentioned using Plantain for relief after a Colonoscopy, this is something I really need. Should I make tea from the leaves ? Thank you so much, I have subscribed to your newsletter xx

Once you start noticing certain plants they do suddenly pop out of the landscape.

I definitely prefer them when they're young
I add plantain to my daily green smoothie. Also nasturtium...yum
