It took SCMP 9 years to track down the designer who made Rihanna's dress from 2015. And we then learn that the dress actually debuted in 2009 and work on it started in 2007. That's 17 years ago! And here I thought fashion moved at lightning speed.
From my understanding, SCMP didn't track down the designer, it's a media interview for coverage and exposure for Guo Pei: Fashioning Imagination exhibition, presenting at the city of Hong Kong's M+ museum, from 21 Sept 2024 to 6 Apr 2025. 😊
That "vanity" has given rise to thousands of jobs, as shearers, weavers, seamstresses, embroiderers, tailors, designers, fashion brand retailers, fashion photographers, magazine columnists, fashion stylists, models, etc. Pretty amazing contribution to global economy tbh
