My personal opinion is when a cop uses Walmart as an example to make his point, it should be immediately be grounds for dismissal. Because it proves they lack the basic understanding of the law and the difference between public and private property.

The difference between the UK and the US. The UK has a central gov. office that sends letters out to all the police stations in the country. After enough of lawsuits over the violating the citizens rights, the head office sent out memos to ALL the police stations. Here in the U.S you still have all these police stations throught the country operating independently without these officers getting updated about citizen's rights and lawsuits happening. Wild West indeed.

I will be calling and politely register my disdain at all officers actions. I am not anti police. My father was multi term county sheriff, my father in law was chief of police after retiring as an assistant warden in a federal penitentiary. Another relative was head game warden in a state my aunt retired as a county dispatcher. I have met many good officers, these are not good officers. All need complete retraining or dismissal. From their actions dismissal is appropriate. I heard they are hiring French fry salters. Lol

I like your timing when asking for names and IDs. When you wait until mid-conversation to ask for ID, they usually seem more willing to give it. When cops are asked for ID right away they tend to get defensive and feel as if the auditor is being unfriendly (which they aren't but this is just how cops think).

They are hung up on rules that apply to them, the sign he points to doesn't have a criminal code cited below it, if it did, it would be valid. The cops don't know anything either, aggressive cop admitted that, then speaks again on the topic he already admitted he didn't know anything about. The old axiom often attributed to Samuel Clemons aka Mark Twain applies for these cops and prison guards( except for unranked prison guard) "It's better to remain silent and be presumed a fool, than to continue speaking and remove all doubt." The usual copsplaining while not understanding the difference between public and private property, is all too common. The gaslighting about understanding your confusion, is ridiculous, when it's all of them who are perplexed, and confused. These tyrants need to understand how much easier it is to just comply with the citizens rights, and get your business done, and watch you be happy, and leave, without conflict. By not respecting your rights, they created this clusterfornication, that's taking up all this time. The police sergeant keeps going back to comparing private property with state property. Then the sergeant thinks promising a lawsuit, if they violate your rights, is a threat. While threatening arrest for trespassing, how many times. The guard captain recited a bunch of stuff that doesn't apply to official business. Mount Pleasant police department could save a lot of money on patrol cars, and just put all the cops that showed up , on one short little bus, because they're quite the collection of crayon eating, window lickers! And since they all decided to show up to the same call , they might as well. The way the lieutenant didn't even want to come out to take your complaint, shows the problem is coming from the leadership on down.
Problem is, he was in fact in a restricted area and was definitely trespassing. Although hard to read, the sign does have a statute at the bottom. You need to look closely. This auditor tries to come off like he knows what he’s doing but he’s an amateur at best. He was trespassing and had no right to that side of the facility. Public access is on the other side of the prison and should have left immediately upon being asked to leave. I’m surprised the cops didn’t arrest him right away.

Great audit again TTA. It's truly frustrating how no one understands the difference between public and private property, and restricted and publicly accessible areas. Not to mention that the FOIA (or equivalent) laws of every state I know of and the federal laws on this too allow for anyone to file their public information request at any agency and it is the public agencies *responsibility* to then forward that to the appropriate office or person to handle it, whether or not it is handled at the facility you put the request in at.

We should start trying to file FOIA requests with cops and let them "take it up with the state".

The older LEO who first pulled up still has remnants of a prejudicial mentality. That's why he started to escalate when you questioned him, but then he checked himself and stepped back. But there seems to be hope for the LEO with the ball cap. At least he's open for dialog. And the DOC LEOs are just hanging with the inmates too much. 😀

Americans are ruled by rules and in most every rule the constitution is ignored. This is every state, America is ruled by rulers when in fact the constitution was written in a way that was never supposed to happen. If law makers passed a law that’s unconstitutional then if the Supreme Court got the case from public Joe they would always rule in favor of the people knocking the law back as void til rewritten or abolished. Thank God we’ve got a Supreme Court today that’s conservative dominated. If the court ever becomes dominated by socialist democrats appointed judges then what little freedoms Americans have will vanish and the rulers and the enforcers they hire will be in happy, happy land. The constitution is the law of the land but it gets in the way of the power hungry rulers and they hate this. These cops have no idea, they are followers of the rulers. We the people are their enemy, average people are comfortable in the corner of comfort therefore they don’t care. They just keep on allowing the government to restrict them without any thought because the tyrant rulers know as long as it’s done slowly over time the public doesn’t get all worked up. I applaud these audits, I applaud this man for showing how freedom is restricted today.
