I'm riding a fairly green but super sweet horse of a friend's. I've just been hopping on in a halter and reins bc I'm way out of practice myself and don't want to hurt her mouth being nervous. Is there a brand of bitless bridle you recommend?

Glad you're trying bitless.
A halter is a good start. A sidepull is the easiest one to start with. If you need more leverage try a hackamore noseband. Here's videos about types of bitless to help you choose.
