Sir, you are my hero. Doing a 2019 frontier. Slightly different but also behind the a pillar trim. You saved me an entire morning of B.S. work. Have a great day
Thanks for saving me from doing it the hard way, brother! I assumed a dash removal would be in order too. Props to designers for putting an easier to access connector midway. Though they don't usually get to do anything helpful to the end customer or tech unless there are cost or process savings from it :)
I just want to say I wish I had found your video before I replaced mine. I to started from the radio and worked way towards engine and the antennae cable broke so I stopped .Then I came and found your video you saved me from tearing the crap out of my truck you would have thought they installed a full wiring harness. It took me only 3 hours it was crazy! But thanks again so much you help a lot!
i am doing a 2012 Nissan pathfinder tomorrow. i have done many antenna over the last 26 years ( i am a professional), and most of the vehicle have the antenna in 2 parts that run up the pillar on the passenger side, just like you showed. so i am assuming from the length of the antenna base cable that it will be the same as this one. Another thing to look out for, since you used the OEM antenna base, an adapter would have to be used in most Nissan's vehicle to an aftermarket stereo. your OEM base has a female end, which will also tell you that it doesn't go all the way to the stereo. This is great information that you put on here ( the mistakes ) that you are telling everyone not to make. thank you. excellent job. Also we usually cut the cable where it get hard to remove, and just run the other cable next to it without removing that hard section.
I have a 16 Frontier, been thinking about putting on a power antenna just so I can go through car washes without removing the antenna. After seeing this informative video, I may start carrying a small wrench to remove the antenna instead.
Thank you for the info, that help me out to get mine done in about an hour or lest just because your video, And I did not took my wheel off and I have a 35” tires 👍🏼
Just wanna let you guys know there’s an easier way to do this. I took everything off like you said the windshield wipers, the Cowell, and then instead of sneaking it down into the truck I spliced it to the original antenna assembly soldered a couple of pieces tucked it back underneath the metal in the corner and everything worked great took one hour and a half in total I have pictures, but I don’t know how to get them on
I broke mine off today on my '15. My little shortie antenna broke off when i was trying to straighten it. I was f*ck that territory until you said we didn't have to take the whole dash apart... I may still just say F it and not do it because I only listen to XM and podcasts anyway... Great video. Thanks
So I think I got from your video, that were replacing the broken antenna.. we only need to follow it from the exterior to the a pillar? Was the replacement OEM assembly able to separate into 2 parts as well ? (The part from the antenna base to the a-pillar then wire from a-pillar to head unit? Thanks much
well i just attempted this replacement... and it was fucking impossible!!!! what a stupid GD design. 2 hours of sweating ans swearing, and all i managed to do was rip the original antenna cable 3 times. I dont see any physical way to fish a wire through, let alone getting the new cable installed.. so i opted to take advantage of a little body panel gap and routed the replacement antenna up through the gap between the a-pillar and the fender, then around the door sill and up into the glove box area where it met up with the midway connector (thanks for that btw, im sure you saved me even more hassle with that tidbit of info. I made sure the cable wouldnt get crimped or pinched anywhere, and bobs your uncle. worked a treat. had i done that to begin with, the job would have taken 30 min max..
thx for sharing I really didn't want to see how much was involved in the antenna replacement all mine does is works randomly I already checked the radio end but seems to work when I jiggle the wire around
So my antenna just broke today in the car wash but looking at the part has anyone thought about just drilling through it and tapping it once you drilled straight through it looks like the wire comes out the side and universal ones come with different sizes and size it up
Ok...so I cheated. I wasn't able to locate the little plastic tie down that runs below the right pillar. My cable disappeared back inside and I couldn't discover its path to save my life. So, rather than subject the neighbors to my extensive expletive vocabulary...I cheated. I got a nice long rod - about 16" - and shoved it through the opening in the wheel well. On the inside, i was able to locate where the rod came through - and peeled back some carpeting/insulation stuff to see it better. Back in the wheel well - I cut the old antenna wire and pushed it back inside. I removed the rod and pushed the female connector through the firewall metal hole - and also through the hole in the carpeting/insulation stuff (hole was already cut). Back inside - I pulled the cable all the way in...then began manually routing it up the right side - among the other wires/cables - until I could get it to be in the gap between the metal pillar and the plastic vent assembly. I slipped the cable up through as far as it would go - then took the mail end - bent it around - and plugged it in. If i would have gone this route to begin with - it would have shaved a least a couple hours from messing with the original cable. My truck is 15 years old....244k miles. Routing that antenna wire a different way isn't gonna make a hill of beans difference.

Nice job. My base just cracked on my 2019. Thanks for saving me a few hours of needless work!
A royal pain of a job! Made a whole lot easier! Thank You for your video!
Lol I work for Nissan and even I found this helpful. They don't show that connection in the service manuals.

Thanks for the video it made it pretty easy. Also love the humor. Good luck on your future videos

thanks for the video, it helped me with finding the connections for the antenna, saving me a bunch of time!
Great video. Really shed light on what is involved. I am going to be doing this as well. Thank you.
Thanks for the info. I have a 2016 SV Crew Cab, and I was wondering how much trouble it would be. Now I know. Again thank you.

Great video.
Thanks
Really nice explaination and saver of time 😅😅😅!
Next time, I promise to do it in Horizontal (landscape) mode.
Chris A wow great video. I have to do my wife's mount, can I splice the wire under the inner fender or rain tray?
What if I were to just cut the wires at the base and splice them into a new base? Avoid taking anything apart minus the wipers and cowling.
That’s my thoughts exactly
Just splice the wires, saved a lot of time

Does the dash need to be remove? Like the glove compartment and radio?
Where does the antenna plug in at the A-Pillar?
Question, could you just splice the wires near the mount??
Yes, working fine.
Thanx!
So basically, youre gonna need to drop your transmission in order to replace a turn signal bulb.
Lots of narration
I tried to take it off, it snapped off because it was siezed. Garbage Nissan
