Thanks for a really great how to video. AutoZone is not selling the same analog gauge you have, but they did have an A/C Pro recharge kit with a digital gauge and a 20 ounce bottle of R134a. With that kit and your excellent instructions, my 2006 Highlander is now blowing like a frozen hurricane. Thanks again.
This AC Pro kit comes with a 20oz can of refrigerant but that doesn't mean you need to add the whole can.. Look for the sticker under your hood that will tell you the maximum refrigerant capacity for your car's AC system.. Great video. I have yet to try this but the car I just purchased (07 Highlander) the previous owner told me they have to charge it every year before summer. So obviously it has a leak somewhere in the system. Do you know of a good video or have a video on how to chase down a leak?
Great video, thanks. I guess to be on the safe side, I'll just stop when I get to 43f or so if I can get it there, instead of going for that second can. Being a non-mechanic, I'd be happy to just get 'good' air compared to what my RX300 is blowing now, I will buy that gauge, and check what is actually coming out to start with, it's cool air but doesn't seem like its all that cold, I think it should be much colder. The face/legs/ vent makes noise when switching, and only half the vents on top seem to be blowing air, and not very strongly. Another issue I'll need to address, or look into later.
Jist did this today on my 2006 HL using EZ chill 18oz bottle, comes with mechanical gauge. Was pretty easy with this video. I put the gauge on and it was at 15psi. Hooked up the can and went to work. Ended at 35psi and inside was around 38f using infrared temp gun. Actually one vent was 52f, while other 3 were between 38-41f. It was weird doing the refill because the ezchill container, when i would release the nozzle, it made a hissing sound, almost like some refrigerant was coming out. It took about half the container from feel, and i couldnt get anymore than 35psi. If i did it would go back to 35. Weird. But glad temp is good now
I was told by a mechanic that the vents on the right side (closer to the compressor) are cooler than those on the left. The greater the difference, the more it indicates a lack of Freon. After watching this video, I can confirm that. My left vent was warmer than the one on the right, but after adding the Freon, the vents on the left are now cooler.
I usually have to recharge once a year so there's definitely a small leak somewhere.. If/when it reaches the point where recharging doesn't work I'll look for the leak..

Yes.. Don't get greedy.. Too much pressure in system is what you want to avoid..

Note to me;
Gauge will show higher-pressure when compressor is
OFF. than while compressor is running.

there was no pressure when you started...aren't you concerned why. Is there a major leak?
