  • I recently spent a week aboard the P&O Azura cruising the Canary Islands and Madeira. And this is a tour of the ship... Ship tour videos can be a bit dull, so I format mine as "A Day In The Life..."

    Lovely Video of Azura have sailed on her 3 times including her maiden maiden season also her sister ship Ventura sever all times we no longer do long haul from Sydney just cruises in our area.

      Thanks so much! I used to live in Sydney and have thought the options for cruises are going to be limited living there - but I could go to New Caledonia and Vanuatu a lot of times before I got bored of either!

    Celebrity used to do a daily newspaper in 3-4 languages and IIRC a couple in English with news aimed at those from the different countries - think it's been dropped now, haven't seen it in about 4 years

      Thanks Paul... Quite alarming how reading seems to have stopped being a thing for a lot of people on holiday!

    Thanks Matt. Just booked my first ever cruise and as it happens it's the Azura, flying to Malta then up and down the Croatian coast so your video has been most appreciated 👍

      Thanks Rob - exciting! A strong itinerary too - that's a lovely part of the world. Enjoy!

      We just booked this cruise for 24 August. How was yours?

    Well captured Matt. I had the benefit of being on her in December when there were only 1600 passengers so no pressure on facilities. The retreat was available for a daily fee subject to space but was fairly shaded... bargain holiday at £795 solo use balcony cabin... including flights transfers and tips...

    Great video. I'm looking at the Azura from Malta this summer, having previously travelled extensively with Marella. The ship looks fine, but I'm a bit apprehensive about the size of the buffet. Also not sure about having to wear a suit in a mediterranean evening just to be able to enter a restaurant or lounge, but maybe it won't be so stuffy.

      Thanks Paul. The buffet's not brilliant... If you don't fancy dressing up in the evening, there's always the.... Er.... Buffet???

    Peninsula Room and Oriental Room - I see what they did there.
    Joking aside, your cruise videos often leave me confused (not in a bad way). Never having taken to the open seas, unless Dover-Calais counts, a bit of me really likes the idea of visiting 5 or more countries in a two week period. Then I see members of the crew waving arms to We Are The World and I’m thinking “nope, oh hell no” I can’t deal with that. Afternoon dance lessons YES! Communal dining nooooo. There’s too many pros and cons for me to spaff £2-3k on a cruise just to see if I like it. It’s a conundrum.
    Anyway, another great work filled with humour, always an enjoyable watch and on this occasion - rather you than me 😊 Lyny x

      Thanks Lyny. The "We are the world" act was a little teeth curdling, I will admit... My advice is to find a short, 2-3 day taster cruise and see how it goes. Needn't be a big investment and you'll get to see all aspects of the experience in a controlled environment!

    If you think that library was good you really should try Cunard - their libraries are enormous (on QE & QV they are even on two levels).
    And I'd certainly recommend ordering the omelettes in the breakfast buffet - in my experience that is something all the cruise lines do, although I suspect it might be ditched in these straitened times to save a few pennies.
    keep up the good work...

      @MattsOceans  Год назад

      Thanks Tony. Nearly booked a Cunard cruise but wasn't quite ready!! I'd imagine on a transatlantic a good library is important as you can't get off!!!

    • @TonyLon
      @TonyLon Год назад +1

      Yes - you’ll need to overcome your aversion to sea days before tackling the transatlantic!

      @MattsOceans  Год назад

      @@TonyLon I'm softening to the idea but I still feel I'd need to have a couple of hefty videos to edit to fill the days...

    Hi Matt, did you notice if smoking was still allowed on the starboard side of the Terrace bar?

    • @MattsOceans
      @MattsOceans  Год назад

      It certainly was. And it was one of the busiest areas on the entire ship...

    Which travel agent do you book your cruises though ?
    I use iglu, but is there a better alternative?

      @MattsOceans  Год назад

      I've always booked myself... But I know I shouldn't... And I have a plan which I should reveal in the next few weeks... Sorry to be cryptic but there's a little bit of work to do before I can announce anything

    If you think the Casino is small on this ship, you should see the one on the Cunard Queen Elizabeth. Tiny and pathetic. The library though on the QE is larger than the one you've shown here.

    • @MattsOceans
      @MattsOceans  Год назад

      Thanks - looking at Cunard again so it'll be fun to see for myself! Never used a ship's casino myself but I do enjoy watching others boost the company's profits!

    It is quite staggering a ship of some 13/14 years old can look so dated.
