Thank you for explaining this poem! You cover the extended metaphors clearly. The explanations of key terms are really helpful too. Great for students who are struggling to understand globalisation. Looking forward to the next video. It will be interesting to hear alternative interpretations! Thanks for sharing. :)
I personally did some really good (i think) analysis of some of the lines about how Dharker suggests all tissue (paper, skin and maps) are ultimately the same but i didnt have a way to link it to identity as that is the theme i struggle with the most. This is so helpful. Absolutely love this poem and this interpretation ❤❤
My exam is tomorrow and I was in a gcse exam when my English teacher decided to teach us tissue and off it’s been predicted. But what hung this video it’s act one of my fav poems now
@@prongs0611 no they won't. English isn't a tiered exam. This is the first year after covid era so they ain't gonna screw us up with this poem. Set 8 doing the same poem as Set 1.

What do u think will be 2023 poem?
Great video as always, funny how the 'hardest' poem has the least views....
Sir what do you predict the Poem will be this year for the aqa exam. my teacher predicts My last duchess, do you agree?
I don't make predictions, but if I were going to study only one poem I would pick a 19th century conflict one, so I would say this is a good bet.

We WILL compare to tissue.
😬
@@miaslego412 nvm remains on top
Even with this explanation there is still no chance I will be picking this poem to compare to, but better safe than sorry!
Benfefits of globalisation? it also leads to a loss of language, culture and tradition. If the poem is also ironic, it could also be interpreted thus.
dou think the exam boad will be so harsh and give this poem? has it ever came up before?
They definitely would.

Elthia Otaria yes

I thought you didn’t get marks on context?
That's unseen poetry
@@lamisamazumder5544 you don't get marks for context in the poetry comparison, this is true for the 2017 and 2018 mark schemes.
I wish that you did love and relationships.. love vids though
When was this poem written?
2006
1954
@@kxs1356 Dharker was born in 1954, she published Tissue in 2006 like the comment above said :)
