SOOOO glad someone saw what I saw in Trey, THE KID CAN FLAT OUT BALL.
Bama fan here. I don't like Texas. But, they looked really good yesterday. Manning looked great, no obvious red flags in his game. To me, there's no reason yet NOT to believe he is very good. But, we will have to see him in competition. Texas looks like they may have 3 really good quarterbacks which is a huge advantage.

As a sooner I hate Texas but I love they are coming back to the top of the nation. Red River just got a whole lot better and i it is the best Rivalry in Football History
And like wise my red river brother… I’ve had the pleasure of attending twice in the last 3yrs and it is a game and atmosphere that can never be replicated. I live in Ohio and have been to THE GAME and it is good but hails in comparison to the atmosphere at the Shootout! Hook Em!! 🤘
Arch’s release is lightning quick. Absolutely love his mobility.
In regards to the DB's, there's a reason why Terry Joseph and Blake Gideon were the only coaches that weren't extended with their contracts. If the passing defense is still sucking going forward, goodbye to them.
Texas is now back to when talent, coaching, and culture are all in sync. This is the result. An elite program that will develop and reload the talent.
I'll give Arch respect in this manner he could've easily went to a school
where he would've started as a freshman, he could've easily hit the portal
and been a starter this year. He's earning his stripes, he'll sit again this year
likely be a 2year starter at Texas and in the long run building character the good
ole fashion way, will serve him well down the road.
If they're going to make him the backup for a second season in a row, I'm thinking he's not going to stay at Texas. If he does, it will be either because they didn't tell him he'd be the backup before it was too late to transfer or because he's isn't actually as good as he's been hyped up to be (and/or he, personally, doesn't think he is)
I figured Arch has grown so I was as surprised as I was by Owen’s. This is still his senior year in hs and he walked in the door slinging it.
Just get ready for Texas to be in the CFP for the foreseeable future.

At Texas (perhaps everywhere) there is a long standing "tradition" or tendency that the most popular "big man on campus" is the 2nd string quarterback. Seems we are right in there again if Quinn misses just 1 pass.

People are so terrified of TEXAS being good again. The only thing we've been missing is an elite QB. Now we have 3 and folks are pulling their hair out trying to find ways to hate, inject controversy or drama and belittle their abilities.

Saying “all we’ve been missing is an elite qb” really devalues how far we’ve actually come in the eyes of every non-TEXAS fan that sees that, and knows, like I know, just how bad we were in all 3 phases of the game for a large portion of the decade long rebuild required to get here.
I’m convinced sam ehlinger gave us national championship level qb play if he had the team we have now, would you not consider that elite qb play at the college level? I mean he never will be in that next tier of qbs but saying all we needed is a qb is selling ourselves short.

Bama fan here. I think Texas is the team to win it all this year. Much respect to Sark and the crazy talent he has gathered around him. Arch will be a force when he’s ready but I think he sits again this year.

@@Rumblecat56 have you taken a second to think they aren’t going full speed so they don’t hurt themselves or their teammates in a glorified scrimmage. I mean a perfect example is Arch’s second touchdown of the day to Blue. The safety easily could’ve blown up the play with a hit but dropped down cause it’s not a game where you’re meant to go full speed and take the heads off your offense.
@@Rumblecat56 not to mention we had at least 3 defensive starters who didn’t participate in this game and limited time from the 1s. Sark limited playing time for a lot of the starters. He wanted to showcase the younger talent he’s brought into the program
@@daltonpalmer3897 it’s perfectly fine that they don’t want to hit each other. It’s also perfectly fine for me to downplay anyone’s performance if they aren’t. Arch is a great football player regardless of whether it’s tackle or Texas Spring Scrimmage/Flag football.

I get what you're saying but as a Texas fan, most of us don't care about the horns down. I personally find it amusing. Most of that was from the University and the Big 12.

@@DK-hg7wj Sark has Texas in a good spot. I wanted sark to stay and replace Saban when he retired. We all knew how good of a coach he was. But Saban wasn't ready to leave so he moved on. Great coach

@@DK-hg7wj good luck this season, we have many years of rivalry a head. Hell as long as someone in the SEC knocks ohio state and Michigan off i ll be happy . Ohio state is going to be the biggest challenge. They got two of our best players when Saban retired. They went around cherry picking players everywhere. Seems like they broke the bank this year in nil money. I think they went all in and didn't spare any expense. it's championship or bust for them.
The college football world better hope Texas doesn’t figure it out because they’ll be the next Georgia and Alabama combined with their resources and beautiful booming location/city. Bad news for the rest of college is that it seems they have figured it out.

It's hard to say. The Backfield is relatively young and the Texas offense is very explosive with a ton of talent at WR and talent/experience at every other offensive position. In the spring game they call very basic plays for the defense so they can learn, whereas the offense was complex to really test players as they compete for starting positions. I think some of it is also set up to impress recruits and fans. I wonder how much of it is framed. Regardless, you can still see the skills and abilities for a lot of these skill players in spring games and Texas is clearly loaded on offense. Secondary probably isnt as bad as it looked but is a concern.

The HC noticed it. DLine isn’t so hot either. Funny everyone is so high on them. Having Ewers back is good, but that defense needs work. Michigan showed capable throwing, the same rushing mentality, and a scary defense that loves to attack the football. This game is in the Big House. Texas fans better cool their jets.

Michigan D is gonna be up against one of the best and experienced Olines. Those Running backs are legit and Michigan won't be able to pull off the upset. You did get one thing right....it will be won in the TRENCHES and the Texas Oline is better than Michigan's. Also an experienced QB helps.....and Texas has the edge there

They literally played Missouri, LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, Bama the recent half decade. If youre talented and deep, youre going to be fine no matter what conference youre in. Texas will do just fine, and they dont have to play down to their competition anymore so I expect better effort week in and week out which could really show their true typical talent.

After watching the Texas Spring game highlights, I would be more concerned about the DBs than excited about Archie Manning if I was one of these so-called fans of Texas...

I dont think he will. He knows what hes walking into with Arch there and the complexity of Sarks offense. He knows if hes patient he will develop. We will see after two years like Arch where the QB room sits and at that point we'll have a clearer picture if he will stay or go. It certainly wont be by the end of the season.

Could be, but his mechanics and decision making are still on point.
As a Texas fan who follows the team very closely, I think there is certainly a concern about the defense, but thats in relativity to the hopes of competing for a natty. Generally I still think the defense will be good and possibly top 25 again with some weaknesses and strengths. We held out some DB starters, we also held out our top pass rushers. On top of that the defense was running basics and the offense was playing complex and fast to really test the new WRs competing for starting roles. Clearly the spring game setup was a huge advantage for the offense. It's easy to play QB when you know nobody is going to hit you. That being said, you can also clearly see how good the skill position players are because they are still running faster and you can still see QB mechanics and how they go through their reads and make accurate passes. The QBs were impressive, consistently great on deep balls and really threating the needle in small windows. A great pass always beats great coverage and most of the game they were just making great passes to great WRs.

If anyone thinks Swede is half the QB that Manning is they’re crazy. Sewers was the worst QB on the field Saturday and as an OU fan I pray to god they play ewers all year.
