  • The current incarnation of "The Price is Right" celebrates its 52nd birthday on 9/4/2024 (two days from me posting this score), but this year is also the 30th anniversary of the primetime version hosted by Doug Davidson (of "The Young and the Restless" fame). This piano solo is my attempt at a cue from that show; this plays during the redesigned Range Game used for the Showcase Round, since the show was only a 30-minute show. (The redesigned format, plus employing Doug as host, was an attempt at appeal to the younger generations; the show got the younger viewers it wanted when Bob Barker made his famous cameo in "Happy Gilmore," where he won the fight with Happy.)
In this format, the contestant would pick a range at random during the commercial break, which would be any $1,000 increment from $4,000 to $10,000. The whole range was labeled from $10,000 to $70,000. The contestant would pull a lever to stop the range finder when he/she felt the actual price of the whole Showcase was within the range. If it did, he/she won the Showcase.
