@@demsareunamerican6800 Ever been on a condo board? It’s like that. The board is made up of owners but that doesn’t mean that everyone is happy about every decision. There is constant bitching.
The PGA tour was set up as a non profit BY THE PLAYERS. There is no corporate ownership. Corporations sponsor events and the Tour runs those events. Everyone who works for the tour is on salary including the commissioner and these people DO NOT OWN THE TOUR.
This basic lack of understanding is why so many fools come on here talking crap about things they know nothing about. The Tour has never ever screwed the players over. After expenses and charity the Players get all the revenue. There are no owners taking any profit whatsoever. If you think there are then name these owners. You can’t because they don’t exist.
And LIV is a government entity that is making these ridiculous payments from oil revenue. If they were an actual competitor that had to pay players from golf revenue they would have gone bankrupt immediately. They will probably be paying off employees of the Tour like Monahan and board members to get what they want, but those deals have not been disclosed yet as far as I know.

Because this is golf. Golf is a small niche sport with a small fan base, which isn’t large enough to support 2 organizations here in the US. Look at how popular the NFL is, but football has always struggled to maintain a second league ie the USFL! Just look at the current viewership numbers. The PGA take the 2 tour championships. LIV averaged 300,000 viewers where PGA Tour championship average close to 5 million. The PIF isn’t going to keep LIV going forever with that kind of loss. Plus traditional golf fans, those 5 million, HATE the golfers that have left and have turned their backs on them hence the poor ratings! I’ll be honest with you it’s hard to find and the broadcast is pretty poor. They haven’t invest in their broadcast enough and marketed enough to lure any of those 5 million fans. Those people are too loyal, most being local PGA members, to switch!

Gregg Norman tried to work within the PGA to improve the game and make it a true world wide sport which would promote golf world wide. They pretended to hold a meeting to openly discuss his proposal but orchestrated a a few influential golfers to kill the proposal. Then a couple of years later implemented a watered down version of his propsal. They did not want Gregg Norman to have anything to do with the implementation of improvements. He was not blue blood enough to be a member of their diets group. And he was not even an American. LIV is a great improvement to golf and will only get better.

The PGA is an elite group of boring, OLD TIME GOLF turds who refused to improve the game for the 2/3's of the tour card, non-big name - sponsor attracting ($$$$). they took way too long to make badly needed rules changes and made pay-out changes only because of the LIV tour. There are still some ridiculous rules that need to go and others better enforced.
The PGA also kept the game in the "don't do anything out of the ordinary" mentality. Every once in while an interesting, out of the box (you can't play like that) player would turn up and they were forced to give in to their greed and let them play because they were such popular, money making machines.

Look, the PGA and LIV are both great golf organizations, but again, if someone is going to pay you $60 million to play golf for one year, you’re not going to say no. A lot of the players who don’t win on the PGA or who don’t make cuts, it’s a blessing, cause they still get to play golf but also make an income for themselves and their family.

somebody tell Jack that the PGA ruined itself by failing to grow and expand when the sport became so popular! The number of PGA tour cards vs. the number of players trying to be pro is the problem, so LIV golf solved that, no restrictions. Instead of learning from their failures, PGA threatened players and then they realized that wouldn't work, so they are trying to merge them under PGA control so they can restore their good old boys club.

Nicklaus, or any other PGA TOUR advocate, supporter, or loyalist has no right to criticize LIV players in any way. All professional golfers play for MONEY! Almost any professional in any career would take higher pay for the same work. Jon Rahm accepted 600m to play golf for LIV. Anyone who would reject that deal is a tremendous fool. Also, pro golfers are independent agents. They should be able to play golf when and where they want to without any negative criticism from Nicklaus, Woods, Mcilroy, or anyone else. This is all about money, and pro golfers will go where the most money is. I'm sure more PGAT stars will go to LIV soon. The money is too good to turn down. If the Saudis want to put billions of dollars into golf, that isn't buying the game, that's expanding the game. The truth is, the PGAT wants to keep on monopolizing and controlling pro golf for selfish reasons. That won't happen any longer. LOL

Anyone who really thinks LIV is good for golf is naive as well as ignorant. Criticizing the opinion of Jack Nicklaus can only be done by die hard fools.
