Beauitlyfuly sean-nós singing by those young ladies, to me, Sean-nós has a deep sadness, yet sheer beauty about it, it sends your mind and thought way back in time to long ago and to present times

Speaking as an Irishman that's traveled and worked abroad, I've always shared our history and songs and stories with many peoples that I made friends with from many distant lands. It's great to see that many of them who love their own music and can appreciate the fine intricacy in our ould Seán nós music unites

For many years the Irish language and Irish music were outlawed by the Brits. Sean nos was sung in secret to preserve both.

Inspectors visited house to check if the law was upheld.
Spoke to the parents in English, then asked a quick question to the children in the native Gaelic. If the children answered, the family got evicted. Another fact, anyone giving shelter to the evicted family faced the same fate.🙏🏻🇮🇪💖

@@norawhite6612 Same thing with attending Mass. it had to be done in secret. Priests were trained in France. The Irish could not hold land, could not vote, could not attend school or universities. Ireland had medical and law schools dating badly well before Christianity arrived. The songs are Amhrán na Trá Báine, Contae Mhaigh Eo, Neainsín Bhán & Caisleán Uí Néill
That's good Irish, but people would usually shorten 'Cad é an' to 'Cén', a bit like 'it is' -> 'it's', so you get 'Cén t-amhrán é seo?'
