I played P790’s and PXG 0211’s so was astonished when I was fitted for the T100 / T150 combo set. But there was little carry difference between what I played and the T100’s (but there was in total distance), with far more height, spin and stopping power from Titleist. Still getting used to them but it was a real eye opener at the fitting session and love the feel and look of my new irons.

Awesome comparison of the new T series! Best on YT I've seen so far. Earlier this year i was custom fit at 2ndSwing Delaware for 2021 T100S 48 wedge to 6 iron in Red AMT TENSEI graphite shafts -1/2 in. short 1 degree flat. By far the best irons I've played and I've been playing nearly 30 years! Recently I went for a custom fit for my TSR3 driver and decided to add a 5 iron to my bag. Custom ordered a T150 5 iron with same specs as my T100S irons. Played a round with it last weekend and it didn't disappoint! Feel and forgiveness is great. I can feel the extra forgiveness in the head. Titleist is by far the best.

First off great video as always guys! Secondly… I am really surprised to see how similar the 150 and 200 numbers are. Would have expected more separation. Would you say the 200 have more forgiveness or what separates them? Are hollow bodies more forgiving than fast faced CBs? I moved from p790 to JPX forged, and I do feel that on off days that the p790 may have helped more but just wondering if that’s just in my head. Just wondering if that’s same comparison for the 150 and 200? Thanks again.

Thanks Brian, really appreciate you taking the time to say so. Yes, you're spot on. The thinner walls of a hollow head allow more mass to be positioned to aid with MOI.
      Hope that helps.

T200 is not a true hollow iron. It's more of a sealed cavity back while I think has a higher MOI vs a true hollow iron like P790. P790 does have the speed slot for more forgiveness on thinned shots. T150 is the least forgiving of all those.

I am going in the other direction. I was playing the JPX 921 Tour...which are a lot like the T100. When I hit them in the middle it was excellent, when I didn't catch them in the middle I paid a big price in distance...I also found even with the weak lofts that I wasn't getting the optimal trajectory, peak height or landing angle. I was fit for the T200 and they are much more forgiving on off centre hits, the distance losses are much less. I also saw improvements in my launch data and ball flight. I am hitting them higher and having a better descent angle...on top of hitting them about 1 club further.
The short answer to your question about T150 - T200....I. would say it would be similar results.

Thanks for the review. What would the numbers look like if the loft was the same for each 7 iron?
It seems like they will go further with less loft.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  11 месяцев назад +1

Loft is very important to distance for sure. We're currently looking into a same loft iron test, which is not quite as simple as it sounds.

I just do t understand the player improvement clubs. Who on earth wants their 7 iron to play 190+ yards? I just don’t get why they are going so strong on those lofts. Basically taking a 6 iron and stamping it a 7. I understand lofts have changed over the years, but for me personally I see 7 iron and I immediately think 33-34 loft 175yds. Unless you’re looking at an iron used by pros, you’re lucky to find a 30 degree 7 and most are 28. Im about to turn 44 and first started when I was 12. Until recently I hadn’t hit balls in a decade, as I was consumed with raising my kids. Now they are getting older and my youngest is interested in golf, so I broke out the bag. Still have the same TaylorMade RAC irons from 2003 and while I haven’t gotten to the course yet, I’ve been going to the range. Been having zero issues carrying 165+ with a 33 degree 7 iron. Biggest issue is I’m also sending them to the moon cause the shafts are 95s. If they had a 115-120 in them, to bring them down a bit, I’m easily 175 carry. Anyway I guess what I’m getting at is these manufacturers can still make a player improvement club without such obnoxiously strong lofts that will greatly help players. I think right now it’s just too much and has to screw with gapping and the rest of the bag transitioning into woods and the wedges. Sorry for the novel, I’m just confused with their logic and as someone that obviously wants to update I’m not exactly sure where to start. I know I’m no T100 player, but I’m also not a T350 player. The T200 kinda seems pointless since the 350 is basically the same idea, but better performing. I realize this is exactly why you should get fitted, but some people don’t have the time or a place nearby to do so. I think I may order a 6 or 7 iron in the T150 and see how it does for me. Probably a 6, cause I know If I have no issues with that club, I’m good to go since I would likely only run 5-PW and the 4 iron was always the iron for me where I started noticing a drop in performance and I’d rather just hit 7W since it can do everything a 4iron does and more imo

To be fair it's exactly why lots of brands are trending towards High Launch irons (with more loft) for their most game improver models.

Hi guys great Video 👍, great distance progression through the New T series (except for T200) looking at your Data why did it perform so poorly in the review, it was shorter than the T150 “it’s not possible looking at the specs” Simon glad you went for the T350s, thinking of updating my T300s (but don’t think I could justify the extra cost) 🤔Thanks Dickey 9hcp 76year senior golfer

Thanks for the feedback Dick, really appreciate you taking the time.
Data doesn't always support common thinking, this is certainly one of those occasions.
Possibly and it's only conjecture, perhaps Neil's impact location isn't quite where the T200 face has been optimised for maximum ball speed etc.
Possibly on another day with a different impact location we could see slightly different results. We'll see how the model does in our 'Best of 2024' test sessions which are only just around the corner.

Hi Neil & Simon “Update” tested my mates new T350s against my T300s, the performance was so much better with the T350s👍, booked a Titleist fitting did the fitting which confirmed I hit the T350s better😁, And ordered a set 7,8,9,PW,AW, with graphite shafts, Simon tried T200s didn’t perform as well as the T350s (as you found) Thanks Dickey 9hcp 76year senior golfer
