4:22 just one thing I think actually the show does make it clear at the beginning that Harmony Cobel is not a severed worker. In the first ep, she tells innie Mark that her mother was an atheist who said that "whatever humans imagine they can create" in reference to humans creating the idea of hell, and Lumon essentially creating an artificial hell for the innies. At the end of the ep she then tells outtie Mark that her mother was a catholic who used to say "it takes the saints 8 hours to bless a sleeping child". The outties' subconscious goes to sleep for 8 hours (9am-5pm) while the innies work. She's basically subconsciously justifying to outtie Mark that Lumon are saints who let him sleep like a child while his innie does the work, meanwhile inside she is tormenting innie Mark with this idea of him being stuck in Lumon's artificial hell. And neither innie or outtie Mark are able to understand her subconscious manipulation. Very sinister and cool little detail in the dialogue.
I wholeheartedly agree with you 100 percent. We're getting close to season 2! I love how you ended this video with Cobel singing Kier's song. Sometimes, when I need a quick Severance fix, I'll sing that song 😂
Man my heart almost dropped you said 10 episodes and thought I missed a new episode. The show has such a good premise as well as a good mystery that they drip feed you constantly throughout the season.
I watched your Poor Things review and OF COURSE the first video on your channel pops up is a review of Severence. Which is my favourite show probably, ever. Masterpiece.
In one of my first jobs induction my boss made me spend 30 minutes in front of a mirror smiling. She said I needed to cultivate my “work persona” and practice on my smiling. I remember smiling at myself in the mirror and thinking 2 things. 1)I’m not paid enough for this crap 2)So I’m supposed to become someone else… creepy Watching the characters in Severance really bought back that chilling memory of me smiling like an idiot, trying to be someone else at work.
I started watching this show because I read that the some of the inspiration came from one of my favourite games, the Stanley parable, and I definitely see it in the way they use the office spaces. There’s just something completely unsettling about these big, empty office spaces. I’m really glad I took the plunge and watched it, easily one of the best new shows of recent years.
I love this show! Nice video, I watch too many video essays and I think yours are very enthralling. Some unsolicited advice, I think investing in a good quality mic will really elevate your channel :) Thanks for making this
Well thank you! Enthralling is such a great compliment. Yes, trying to fix my microphone for future videos, I had one but it only produced audio for the right earphone. Thank you for the comment!!
@@steveskonntentthe reason a mic would do that is because your editing software is expecting stereo but your mic is (correctly) giving a mono signal. You should easily be able to convert it to mono audio with a simple right click or dropdown menu in audacity, premiere, or whatever software you are using :)
Great video dude. What a start to a series. I am in awe of how staggeringly rich and fully drawn it is for an opening season. I would always hesitate to build up expectations to high in this world we live in though...! We've all suffered through True Detective follow up seasons and the final seasons of game of thrones (and Heroes and Lost and on and on)....
Outstanding video. Although the audio quality of your voiceover is a little grating. Looking forward to the day you upgrade your microphone haha. Keep up the great work!
Only found out about the show by sheer luck because one of my favourite content creators on yt made his own cover of the intro music which in itself made me interested in what this series has to offer. Now I can say without a doubt Severance is in my top 3 shows I ever watched, sharing this spot with masterpieces such as Attack on Titan.
By far the best most original show created in the past decade maybe longer. The only show I would put above it is the first season of true detective. Which in my opinion is the greatest single season of a show ever created but severance comes very close.
@@RabbiRabbit87 true detective S1 is so, so spectacular. I don’t know if I’d lean that or severance. I think severance is much more original, but True Detective s1 probably more gripping and dramatic for me
Thanks for the great video! Really felt like you got everything you wanted to across without it dragging at all! Can’t wait for season 2! Nice editing as well. What did you use to edit if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you for this comment!!♥️ I use a program called 4k video downloaded (it’s free) and then adobe premiere pro to edit. I pull background music from artist.io
There's only 9 episodes in Season 1, 10 in Season 2. Adam Scott has been in a lot more movies where he doesn't play a douchebag, go check those out, he's an incredible actor.
The production of season 2 had to be paused because of the strike with the writer's and actor's guilds. Apple TV and Ben Stiller both made a post on social media on January 29th teasing that they're back to work on the series, but nothing more precise than that has come out.
Please watch better call saul if you have not The dialogues the mannerisms the interaction it feels so natural All the actors are goated Better call saul is like a fine wine If you love story telling please do watch better call saul It has the perfect ending to any fictional tv show I have ever watched
I have some longer ones (12-14 minutes range) but I definitely hear you. As I improve at analysis and have more to say I think I’ll go longer sometimes. But with severance being one season I didn’t want to overdo it just yet. Thank you though!♥️
I rewatched the entire season twice. Can't wait for the next season
Rewatching now myself!

I worked on season two, it was an incredible experience. Excited to see it unfold, myself.

It‘s similar to LOST in that it presents mystery after mystery and keeps you watching trying to make sense of it… very clever concept
Don't compare that crap to this

One of my favorite things is when someone has very similar taste in art as me. Nice to meet you Katie!
Severance was created by Dan Erickson? I thought it was Kier Eagan

One question: Where is the 10th episode? My Netflix only lists 9...
Take a second look - it might be a different show you found on Netflix. As far as I know, Severance is an Apple TV+ exclusive.
I don’t know that we will ever see season 2.
Why isn’t it out yet. When was it due?
