What a great place to bring your friend, a true paradise. Oh that just squeezes my heart when I see you mixing with the locals and joining in. Absolutely fantastic. Ahahahahaha with the black make-up, hope it comes off lol. Wow, that's amazing about the roof palms. What a great hike, fun times. :)
I love watching you guys boom furling your mainsail. Almost nobody has a boom furling mainsail today. I don't know why. Because way back in 1975 I bought a used 1969 Cal 29 in mint condition and she came with a roller furling reefable Genoa headsail that we could sail controllably in any amount of wing to 50 mph. We could reef her down to the size of a handkerchief. We also had a wonderful boom furling mainsail, that worked perfectly every time. It also reefed way down 3 to 4 times the original size. She was called "Clow Around", named by my 2 boys 7 & 11 years old. Neither of which had ever been on a boat of any kind before moving onto Clown Around for the April to November time on Lake Ontario in NY and Ontario Canada. she was agile as a cat in almost any wind.
Hey Gene! It is interesting, we do not meet many other boats with a boom furling mainsail. We actually did not like it at first, it took us two years to tune it in! Now we really enjoy having the in-boom main furling system. Like you mentioned, we can reef it easily to 3-4 times its original size which helps keeps the boat balanced nicely in bad weather. Hope you have a very happy new year! Cheers~
I have been meaning to write a note to thank you for writing the name of the creatures in the sea. Not everybody is as familiar with the type of fish that are swimming in the ocean and I just love the water and I appreciate you guys telling us the name of those creatures in the ocean. Great job and I wish you guys the best and safe journey forever. I love Brooke for her sensitivity and see her cry many times which are real and not a show for video taping. Gary, you are awesome and a cool guy and I don't think you ever get upset. Good for you. I wanted to do the same thing as you guys are doing but I was scammed millions of dollars and now I have to work until I die and cannot retire like I wanted to this year.
Thank you so much for all the positive words! Happy to hear you enjoy the fish identification. So sorry to hear that you were scammed. That is so awful.
The San Blas Islands and it's people are nothing short of incredible. What a gorgeous place, on land and under the sea. The locals are such a joy. I'm not sure who is luckier, use with all the modern conveniences or them with just what nature has to offer. I'm pretty sure, they win out. So cool to be able to have your friend onboard. She looked like she was having a super time. Stay groovy and stay safe.
It really is amazing to see their perspective on life! Fully aware of the outside world and all the "conveniences' of modern society, yet they prefer to live peacefully on their beautiful islands. Such an incredibly friendly and welcoming people. We learned a lot in our time there.
Goood afternoon One Life. Great episode. Cool to get to witness your interaction with the locals. Glad you include those fine folks. I’m certain it’s a high point in their lives too. Nice to see your friend Addie enjoying One Life with you. Nice post visit interview 👍. We got 8” of snow two days ago in the southern Ohio area and now the all day rain is washing it away. Nice coverage of your waterfall experience. We recently repurposed some concrete slabs and built a waterfall feature in the small creek that runs through our farm. Hoping to create a relaxing area with picnic table and park style bench next to the falls. We’ll see how it turns out. Best wishes for relaxation and fun times at your next “screen saver” stop over...Cheers & blessings 👍🇺🇸😎... Trent
Hi Trent! Wow snow! Yikes. Addy had snow when she got back as well. To be honest I'd like a little snow for a couple days! Your waterfall feature sounds awesome! I miss farm life some days out here. I grew up riding horses. Hope you have a good week and enjoy a little of the snow for us! Cheers! Brooke
That was cool. But no plucky, i thought he almost owned these islands lol. I love the sandblast islands & the people on them. That's another place that I would love to visit. Keep up the good work 💪 Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
So happy for y’all! Keep living the One Life and enjoy every single second of the day! Even if it’s not Sunshine and Beer! We love following y’all’s journey! Love how y’all keep it real! 🏝🍍❤️
Thank you so much! You motivate us to keep going even on the bad days! Sunshine and beer are sure nice but we've learned to appreciate the not so good days as well......a bad day out here is still better than a bad day at the office!
Thanks for my daily dose of One Life .. and I appreciate you always share the unfiltered daily life as well… Questions: - Do you ever get “tired” of fresh seafood? - Does your toilet have a bilge, that is emptied in deep water, or at a marina? I can’t image you empty anything at anchor!
Hey Arthur! Thank you for the comment! You know some days we'd trade a lobster for a nice steak no doubt! We love fresh seafood but we at times get a little tired of it. Only so many ways to prepare fish! As for our toilet, we do have a holding tank that we use in areas where we are not allowed to pump over board. Depending where we are and what the rules are dictate if we pump into tank or directly overboard.
I agree with Gary! I love girls with coconuts! lol What goes well with that? Rum? Love your comment about the screen saver. I was thinking the same thing and hoping to have it be our "somewhere else" in a few years. Thanks for the videos! Cheers!
I love the interaction with the locals! In all my travels I always tried to learn about the lifestyle of the locals. All of you visitors to these islands (at least the ones I can see) have enriched the Gunas (sp) lives. They are dependent on your visits and your purchase of items. P.S. you can chew on sugar cane in the U.S. Excellent video!! You have just become one of my favorite videos.
Thanks, Rodney! Meeting the people is always our favorite part of visiting a place. We've learned so much and hope they enjoy our visits as much as we do! Ah good to know about the sugar cane! Maybe next time we are in the states we will find some to try for comparison!

WOW. Another great video! Do you ever think about doing 1 week paying charters for single ride along guests? That trip for Addie sounds cool. You guys have the best videos.
We have considered it, but the logistics and legalities of running paid charters in foreign countries are pretty challenging. We were so happy to be able to share our experience in the San Blas with her, even if just for one short week!
Sure is, but it's fun! We've run into quite a few RUclipsrs here in Panama. With the closure of the South Pacific for the last two years, seems to be everyone is piling up here waiting to go through the canal.
Nope, we did ask about this. They said they don't get sick from the water. There is virtually no human activity upstream in these rivers all the way up to the mountains, so the water is quite possibly clean and free of viruses and bacteria.
Time stamp 4:22 why is the American flag upsidedown? Next shot it was right side up. Just curious? Great vid glad you had fun with your friend. Sucks your other couldn't come.
It's right-side up in both, just a tricky looking perspective in the first one. Fooled me too when I just looked back at it! We had a blast with Addy and hopefully Spence will be able to join us again somewhere else. Thanks for watching!
In the US it's pretty simple yes, but as a foreigner in other countries it's not always possible to run a business, or even just get a job. Work visas, residency requirements, business licenses, insurance, etc....

It was so much fun having Addy with us! The black make-up or should I say, paint? did take a bit of scrubbing and a day or two before it wore off!
San Blas added to bucket list
It's a lovely place!

@Sailing One Life The sour fruit that you got and didn't know the English name for is the Cacao Fruit processed to make Cocoa and Chocolate.
Thanks Terrence! That was the first time we've actually seen and eaten one. Very cool! I think I prefer it in chocolate form though 😁
It did look familiar - at first it looked a bit like Durian on the inside, but it was too small and the wrong outside. Did not think of cocoa fruit 🙂

Hey Gloria! Thank you! Yes, a couple others mentioned in the comments as well. We should have known it was cacao as he said it was 'snickers'.
