The VW Transporter T6 is that vehicle that can pretty much go through the rest of time just being facelifted and tweaked. It's just that perfect as an appliance.
nice to see Ed back, but as a van driver, I would have liked to have known about Payload, visability, stability under load, turning circle, electric windows, AC, and MPG and cost.
Sad to see Edd China’s reviewing instead of fixing, up rating and just using his genius hands work on every type of of vehicle! :( Edd needs to revive pimp your ride uk!! :)

Edd is a genius. He was the lynchpin of Wheelers & Dealers and I was really sorry to see him go. If you bought a 2nd hand car from Edd you knew it would be perfect. Hope this channel is a big success Edd.
Hi Ed, great to see you back. A talent like you and your huge popularity seems to me that u need your own channel doing what you do best. You would have no problem amassing 000’s of subscribers. Get repairing/tinkering its what we want😬
If you want to buy one, please do your research. The lower spec engines seem to be good. The high power engines are completely worn in 60.000 miles. If you understand German, I recommend Redhead Zylinderkopftechnik on RUclips. They unfortunately (for the customers) have to rebuild a lot of the VW T6 engines. They even contemplate to develop an oil cooler for it themselves. Last but not least, change oil and fluids twice as frequently as VW indicates. That may also help a little. Here downsizing went wrong and you are better off with the low power versions.
Yeah, T5 and soon out-of-warranty T6 biturbos are a sweet deal with blown engines! :D
I just picked up a really nice T5.1 4Motion BiTurbo for €5k, dropping in a factory new engine for a further 5k plus external oil cooler, new Dpf and new turbos, will be changing the oil every 10kkm, should last me for years to come.

The front styling is horrible. Prefer the t6. But nothing looks better than the transit van. Coming to a transporter soon🤔

My 04 t5 1.9 tdi is still going strong it's the AXC engine very economical. Also I'd prefer a closed glove box with a lock. But the t6 is a good looking van. But they have made them smaller width and length

Mr China, brilliant as usual! Great review! The only problem I see with T6.1 is the design doesn't allow a tall bloke fit nicely on the driver's seat.

Best in class, no doubt. It is more expensive, but you get what you pay for, it is massively better to drive and better made compared to the Ford Transit. It’s just better in every way, the Ford is so unreliable and bouncy to drive. This is a sophisticated van, and for a long term investment this will save you money.

I had a T5 174PS. Preferred my transit tourneo for comfort and front seat space. much cheaper than the VW and lasted a lot longer!

You recommend the DSG. High mileage drivers won’t appreciate the 40k service intervals for this gearbox.
Or when it totally fucks up just after warranty has expired.
Super helpful. I now know to avoid the 6.1 and look for a 6.
Edd is the best presenter and has had more experience than most jokers from RUclips.

My T5 works perfect after 13 years and I love it . I like the new Vans but way to expensive for ....just a Van.
Same here Steven, except my t5, needed some ECU repairs this month £1300, BUT I can't complain, she's a workhorse and it owes me diddly. Considering its 17 yrs old and little work over its long life ..(just gearbox/flywheel replacement...wear & tear to be expected)
2:50 Digital instruments cannot be added to the T6.1 panel van. They're only available for the Caravelle.

I think I can deal with Edd reviewing cars, but a VW minivan? And not even a passenger minivan, but a utility minivan??? No style whatsoever. I mean, the man has revived Porsches, Lamborghinis and Corvettes - among many other cool vehicles. But still, it's great to see Edd, and I hope this leads to better things than "Built By Many," or "Edd China's Garage Revival." We are the faithful after all! Hoping that this works for the Big Man!

Be warned - Android Auto DOES NOT WORK correctly in the T6.1. Regardless of phone, Android version etc., when connected via Android Auto, the T6.1 will not let you listen to music/podcasts from your phone. It's a software issue with the vehicle and it's driving me insane. VW have acknowledged that there's a problem but refuse to do anything about it.
Don't worry, there are other good apps that do the same and more!
@@thefreedomguyuk No, there aren't. The problem is with the T6.1, not the apps on the phone.
@@joenest2122 and it isn't wireless like several dealers told me when I was ordering. Wish they'd train dealers up better to know what they're selling. Hopefully the app connect problems will be sorted by the time I get mine

That BiTDi engine makes 240 bhp in the Passat so there's plenty of potential for tuning there.
Dunno I'm pretty sure the boys at Darkside Developments said the 2L BiTDI was one of the worst engines to tune... (Edit, that might have been the last gen Passat BiTDI)
They just put a video up on one today, got 274 bhp and about 430 lb/ft
@@thelivingdodo2 Keep in mind that the transporter is way heavier then a passat, so the same engine wouldn't automatically mean it has the same specs. I mean same back with the Clio 3.0 V6 from the Espace. Smaller car thus getting more kick from that engine.

These vans are awesome. You pay for things like galvanized dipped body. Also a lot of high tensile steel. ETC ETC. Only criticisms are the stupid gearbox is in 2nd gear at 4kph doing a U turn. Use mauual mode in 1st gear instead. Also tyres wear out in 30.000 km. I put some Cooper Discoverer AT3 on it but it's fuel economy is screwed. I brought the T6 because my petrol and diesel T5 were awesome.

How many miles have you done in your pug and how have you liked it? I'm considering it for its slightly smaller size compared to the transits or transporters

Let us opt out of the Adaptive Curse control, Assist Breaking, Connected Vehicle, (Don't want a big Brother Van spying on me), Crosswind Assist, Steeling Assist, Stop/Start Offer us a cheaper Van option with out these devices?.....This is the 1st VW Transporter i will NOT want to buy after driving and owning them for 25 years....

Don't know where you got the specs from Edd but wireless charging and load through bulkhead options aren't available in the UK ☹️.
The marketing department at VW for sure. You know the place where they tell you oil consumption problems with the BiTurbo engines on VW vans are the customers fault XD
