Man. The timing of this episode is on point. Nothing prepares you for how to be a child to aging parents. My parents are 74 and 71. They’ve had their health issues. But for the most part, they’re in good health. My brother and I had a conversation with our dad a couple weeks ago about where all of their stuff was, insurance policies, bank accounts, etc…… I went over their house on Sunday, and saw on a book on the table called “When I’m Gone” which is for just that. It was nice knowing that they took our concern about that seriously, but also it was kind of a jarring realizing like “Oh, yeah. That’s where we’re at now”.
I had the opposite, but that's awesome. I would love to do that one day but I'm like 3 minutes in.

My only tip is to introduce the life alert early if there are any signs of dementia. She’d have the necklace on, take a fall, a forget she had it on. But the family stepped up and became the at home care we couldn’t afford

My heart goes out to Adam. It’s scary when people you love get to a point where they can’t take care of themselves/they’re constantly falling. I’m a caregiver to my aunt and the anxiety is insane, but distractions with work and realizing there’s only so much one can do gives a *small* bit of relief.

I’m 41, my son just graduated high school and my daughter is 14. I’m so glad now that I had kids when I did while I was still young and had the energy to keep up with them. I couldn’t imagine having kids at 41! 🤣

Oh my god. The same thing happened to my dad - 4 days alone stuck on the floor. We called the police to do a wellness check, which saved his life. He'd been hallucinating and was permanently handicapped from the incident. He lived a few more years after that. Miss him so much.

Actually got to catch Adam while he was in Eugene at the Olsen, such a great comedian, tragic to hear about his dad in such a bad place while he is sharing such great times with people I can’t imagine that feeling. But holy hell, Adam is such an experience to be around, will go out of my way to see him any chance I get. Sickle cell it’s your turn!!!

This happened to my mother in law last year she fell she didn't have her dang life alert on she refused to wear it most of the time she couldn't get to the phone she was only there about 18 hours my partner showed up found her she was embarrassed because she had an accident obviously stuck but emergency services came and she ended up having a UTI idk if she had one already or it was being stuck on the floor but she broke her hip which she had done two years before and recovered with no issues but this time she wasn't so lucky she was in the hospital like ten days she woke up asked if she was dying it was terrible but she passed away peacefully she was 90... Now I know why older people are petrified of falling

My grandpa is my best friend and happens to be his 81st birthday. There are days I dont get to visit him and I imagined myself walking in on him with wheat thins in his mouth 😂 death is crazy, but hes going to get a kick from this when i show him.
