Well done - thst was a hard slog! It would have been parts or a boat anchor by now if that were mine. Hat's off to you.

Great to see some correct functionality from the old beast! That range selector switch is rather annoying - I'd put it at the top of my to do list if I were you, but that's probably a touch of OCD on my part!

I would use heatsink compound. It's fine at HV. Get there mate!

Simon Spiers - yes I did end up putting some on, I was worried about the transistors getting hot and the heatsink feeling too cool, seems to be fine.

Is heatsink compound on that style of transistor a relatively new thing? It's just that I can remember my Dad working on a number of old televisions back in the eighties and they never seemed to have any heatsink compound on that style of transistor either.

The lighting is OK, this is my temporary lab until my house is fixed.

It's been an uphill fight with every stage, at last it's showing promise :-D.
That front panel switch is a pain, perhaps thats the next thing to do.
Some power resistors can stink if they are not really clean, possibly a scrub with metholated spirits of better could help.
Your a better man than me, i would have shown it the skip lol.

I think all the switches are dirty. I remember about 5 vids back it wasn't working, then there was rapid movement of the freq switch and it suddenly started working. From the vid Mr Def wasn't looking at the DMM and missed the actual point it happened, but he did notice it 1min latter..
